Quidco are doing £10 cashback on a £25 spend atm so you could get the longer contract at the same price.

I have the mark 2 now tv box now, I just like the idea of not having to point to remote at the box. Apparently the snazzy new box doesn't need line of sight to the remote.

Can you use this box without it being plugged into an aerial? we don't have an aerial, we do have wifi and currently have now tv (normal box), but I just noticed that someone has commented that the remote doesn't need to see the box to work, and that would be really handy. Obviously I'd lose some of the free view functions without an aerial, but would it work as a 'normal' now tv box?

Yes you should be able to use it as a NowTV box only (via ethernet cable/WiFi) without having an aerial plugged in to it. I'd have thought though that if that's what you want to do, you can get a non-Smart Mark 2 box for around £15.

Just to say I saw these at the same price in Asda earlier today (Weymouth), I presume it's nationwide so if you've a Asda nearer than an Argos it may be worth a look!

I have the Plex Classic app working on one of these newer NOW TV Smart boxes. Having some problems with stuttering streaming though compared to my other devices. Still happy with my smart box overall

Does anyone know how much better than the 2nd gen NowTV this box is? other than the free view capabilities of course.

well you can stream 'Live' Sky Cinema in 720p rather than SD (as now) for a start. That'll do for me.

In theory you could by both variants of this (movies pack, and entertainment pack), then create a single account and apply both vouchers to give you the full set!
Depends. If your TV can pick up channels with an indoor aerial then the nowtv box should.
Ideally you'll want to be within a few miles of transmitter with near line of sight.
Btw there isn't such thing as a free view aerial or digital aerial, so if your current aerial is an old 'analogue' type it'll probably work, assuming it's pointing in right direction and not broken.

You do need an aerial.
Think of this as a NowTV box with built in Freeview tuner (or as a Freeview box with built in NowTV - same difference!)
The Freeview experience is not amazing - now/next EPG only, no 7 day guide for example.
Does this mean i dont need a freview aeriel? sorry if this is a dumb question...

Just spotted for a tenner more (£34.99) you can have a similar deal with either 5 months entertainment, or 4 months movies. Have updated the original post in case that is of interest to anyone.
