Right I don't want to seem daft but..wanting to leave Virgin because every damn year it increases. .so this Now TV, is it almost just like the tivo/a sky box itself? And there's no way around needing WiFi? Sorry if this is some stupid questions..
tomwatts to R1992
21 Nov 162#18
On these ones you can use Ethernet! See this more as a laptop that plugs into your TV. It can't show you "live" tv - everything is streamed from the Web. The 2016 box (more expensive than this!) allows you to plug an aerial in and integrate normal channels with sky's, much more like a tivo/sky box but you still need an internet connection for the sky channels.

So would the 2016 box require no broadband? Thank you for your reply btw

Does this box have 1080p and dolby digital? I think I remember reading there was an update since the previous Now TV boxes could only output 720p and stereo.
hcc27
21 Nov 16#41
Wow that's one hefty cable subscription. They're taking you for a ride. If you still want a subscriotion, insist you want to leave, they'll transfer you to retentions, hold firm until the last second when the 'CS Consultant' offers to pretty much halve your subscription on a new one year deal.
However, Now TV will be much better value even if you get both the Movie and Entertainment passes. Sky is on the way down and they know it which is why they are cannibalising their subscription offering with these cut price deals for the majority of the same channels via Now TV.
So much better value with Netflix and Amazon Prime (of course, depends on tastes).

You can only watch on two of them at a time though.
I find the four devices thing to be too restrictive even for one house. We have two TVs, two tablets, two smartphones and three computers. It's annoying not to just be able to log in on whichever device you want to use, and you can only make one change to the devices a month.
Another annoying thing is that you can only stream, you can't download to watch later. Which means if you want to watch stuff on a bus or a train you'll be using a lot of data.
I think the content on NowTV is better than the (legal) alternatives, but the way they've implemented it is far too restrictive.

Argos now price matched for the 6 months entertainment pass and box - add to checkout to see the price drop
I'm not sure, but maybe not. On the Tesco site it says "Voucher expires one year after date of purchase.". However I bought one of these boxes before and I think the voucher was actually valid for less than a year from the date I bought it. If I'm right it might have been valid from 1 year since the voucher was packed in the retail box. So if these boxes were packed 9 months ago, you may only have 3 months left to use the vouchers.
Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong or confirm if I'm right?
