it will play very old games and and new games on very low settings. so its not worthy of the title 'gaming laptop'. You need a GTX960m (a significant leap up) before performance is acceptable. End of.

Well they are built around the same chipset but issue with a lot of 950m cards, including this one, is that they get lumbered with DDR3 memory vs DDR5 on the 960m. In the real world this translates into 20% to 40% FPS increase which isn't to be sniffed at particularly when you're already investing £600 into a laptop so may as well stretch the budget and get nice things like IPS panels and maybe even SSD too if you catch the right deal.

The 960m is literally the same chip as the 950m, just with higher clocks, so it wouldn't make much of a difference, and none at all if you are willing to overclock.

I have the GTX 950 Graphics Card in my Desktop PC and can say that the Graphics Card is useless for Lightroom or sony Vegas V13. Lightroom infact runs FASTER if you turn off the GPU Acceleration with this card. As for using to speed up Sony Vegas from what I can tell the CUDA drivers provided in Sony Vegas 13 are hard coded to specific older models of Nividia Cards, so if you buy a newer model you don't get the benefits of CUDA and default to using the CPU even though you have use CUDA ticked in the options.

I ordered one a few months ago... when it was £50 less. They are good laptops for a budget price, however they are still good enough to player Overwatch at 60FPS on medium settings and use Unity/UE4. I think that if you expect to play GTAV on it the FPS would be lower but for mid range gaming its fine.

It does but feedback in the thread from people who've got it is its not that bad a screen and the keyboard is good which is rare on a laptop these days. if it had a 6700 instead of 6300 I'd probably have got one.

If it helps, I have an MSI 'gaming' laptop, and it runs games pretty well. Same GTX950M as this, slower CPU. Infinite Warfare runs at full HD with most of the eye candy turned on (but low textures, only a 2gb card in mine). Averages 42 fps on multiplayer. Yes, there are faster cards, but please don't criticise this unless you have experience of it.

Well I have a 950m , can run most things on 1080p , just not on ultra settings and you have 30+ fps , if you want 60 you lower a few more things, honestly its not the card thats the problem but the cooling in my opinion. I keep my tea/hot chocolate warm by putting it in the path of the fan (no, not close enough to block the normal air flow before some smart ass tries to be a smartass) and yea all the cooling peripherals in the summer.

Well, i'm pretty cool with it though I think there is many more amazing lapts out in the market. So far, I'm OK with it on playing Starcraft, Dota 2, Forza Horizon 3, even infinite warfare ~ But guys, thanks for comment :wink:
