It is a basic phone, or a backup phone. Sound is loud and great, battery is amazing. Really pure Android made a difference. It got FM radio as well.
However, it is not the most responsive phone, internal memory is 16GB.
I added 64GB external microSD and worked fine.
Phone doesn't come with headphone, only phone and UK charger were supplied.
Phone arrived with Android 5.1 however, through the software update menu on the phone it got updated to Android 6.0
I ran lots of Youtube videos on it and it works fine, no lagging etc.
Did not install yet the usuall suspects Facebook and Whatsup. However whatup will be very challenging as it does not transfer to external memory. I hope I will be able to transfer Facebook though (something I did not try yet).
Also there is no home button all are at the bottom of the screen.
Overall, solid built phone, capable of doing basic functions. Looks beutiful and really solid built.
Not sure when it comes to Calender, opening files etc, may be a big ask. But for what it is and being Motorolla or Lenovo it is amazing for the price.
I said again pure Android makes a huge difference and keeps the phone alive for longer. Mine is still on its first charge since my comment above, did not make calls on it though. (3days+)

Finally received it. Not the fastest delivery, but still a great deal and an excellent phone for the price.

As previously mentioned, the UK spec for the G4 Play is definitely 16GB storage and 1GB RAM, as confirmed on Motorola's UK site - the online review sites and other sources that state the phone has 2GB RAM are presumably reviewing or looking at non-UK models.

As for Argos, unless they've imported a non-UK model (highly unlikely), then the 2GB RAM mentioned in their spec list for this phone is incorrect - I expect they've done a cut-and-paste job from the G4 specs and forgot to change that entry !

Ordered 2 - one shipped a few days ago and i got order shipped email then some hours later invoice on email in pdf form. Second one shipped last night and again got order shipped email but not had invoice pdf email. Nope not opening it until I have definitely decided to keep it. I am still keeping my open for another deal. This is not my first choice given 1 GB of RAM but will keep it if nothing better comes up in the next week or so.

I watched Fedex deliver mine to a neighbour thanks to the joys of some IP cameras I have setup. So I'll have some answers later hopefully.

The order was completed on the 4th and the money was only taken from my account this morning so I doubt it will be dispatched this week.

Not sure there's any reason to buy it over the G3 which has a better camera I'd imagine if the pixel count is anything to go by and can be got around this cost. Only benefit seems to be possibly* (*qv Moto E update lifespan) better access to future Android versions.

Eh? There's 3-4 models, and this has been reviewed very well for a £79 phone. I use the normal G4's at work, every day and they are very capable phones, but as many have said not for gaming.

Still no confirmation mail, but used the Motorola live help and the assistant confirmed my order is placed and the confirmation will come when the order goes to Fulfilment dept.

Apparently it is on sale in the US for $35 and it is with 2GB RAM!

The moto G was talked up as the best budget phone going and it was a pretty **** phone with a few major problems... The memory was pathetic even with a huge SD card and the update to the next version of android absolutely crushed it's performance.

Great Phone for everyday use despite the memory limitation, it's basically stock android with no bloat and it's well made, supports Android Pay, Has a user removable battery with long battery life, it's slightly waterproof and will survive a dunk, however if your mobile gamer this is not the phone for you.

I just phoned PayPal and spoke to someone about it, guy I spoke to has just contacted Interplay's account manager, as he's getting a lot of calls about the same issue, sounds like it will be sorted out soon and as soon as I got off the phone, one of my pending transactions moved to completed on Paypal.

If you call Paypal, you'll get through to an automated service which seems a bit dead endy, but saying "let me speak to a human" worked for me.

It should have 2GB RAM. The 16GB one does supposedly.

KENSMOTO not working for me

If you do get a confirmation from the site, make sure you write down your number or print screen it. I've just lost mine after the page refreshed and am blatantly not getting an email confirmation.

First one for me went screwy altogether even though Paypal have authorised the monies... Second one, I had an order number on screen and was told to watch for an email confirmation which has not arrived yet!

Ordered ~10.30am and got an order number and "Your order was successful" message. Still no confirmation email though so I'm guessing I've missed out. Are the people managing to order now getting their confirmations straight away ?

Okay, so as best I can tell, the reason that the specifications seem all over the place on Google is because the UK has a slightly different variant of the G4 Play which adds NFC but subtracts 1Gb RAM. I assume they're trying to push Android Pay along since it arrived in the UK.

I suspect that is not a good trade-off for most people. That will hamper the performance of the phone quite a bit, whereas your main use of NFC is likely to be contactless cardless payments, which has an easy and necessary fall-back in debit cards anyway.

Don't think I've seen 3.3% Quidco for Motorola mentioned yet, you never know.

I've got both confirmation and TCB also so fingers crossed.

Confirmation was immediate for me when it went through properly. If you haven't had confirmation yet you'll almost certainly need to try again. I have to get 4 refunds from PayPal now, my 5th attempt finally worked.

EDIT - I'm wrong sorry, only confirmation I've had is on the website, I've not actually had a confirmation email. My first 4 attempts I didn't even get confirmation on the website, but the money came out my Paypal.

It wasn't my deal, and there are several pages of comments with people whining about Motorola Customer Services linked to this deal, or others failing to stack the codes as they wanted. For the sake of a few pence some might find it easier to order from CPW.

I think you are getting confused with the specs for the Moto G itself. The Play G4 has always been shown as having 1Gb RAM. I bought the 16Gb version from CPW when they had a 79.99 promotion which seemed to get far less heat than this complex deal (they are still available at CPW for 84.99 plus top up. It's a great phone, with an impressive display, slimline shape and more than fast enough for my needs.

Hello mate, haven't read the thread after this, don't know if you've already got a workable solution.

Here's one: Decline to accept the delivery on arrival at your door. Tell the courier that it is an ordering error and you can't accept it. It will be returned and your money returned in full. (This might take a few days, maybe a couple of weeks).

In the meantime have a friend order the phone at this price to a different address on your behalf.

Is this any better than an ageing and bloated samsung galaxy s4? mine is full.

As far as I knew the play sold in the UK online had 1gb that's been my knowledge since time of realease but if it's 2gb you'll be lucky! I would bite if it was 2gb

I've had the order confirmation email. With regards to the specifications, It states 16gb internal memory, which according to other sources would make it 2gb internal ram (1gb is 8gb). The camera's MP has nothing to do with image quality, only image size.

Order confirmation email has arrived. This will suit my wife perfectly, the only uses for her phone are web browsing, email, taking photos and SMS/calls. It's more than fine for all that lot!

What is means, is that you have to pay to return it, the cost of the postage to return it.

Click back onto your cart, then look to the bottom of the page and you'll see the price details. Look along from the price and, in blue writing, it says "enter promo code". Enter first code then it asks for another code. Just keep adding them until the price gets to 79.01

Enter the codes at the bottom ..its on the left hand side of check out " enter promo code" click on that

Stop spamming. The code spot is right at the bottom of the basket before you put any personal info in.

If this is 16GB Internal then it should have 2GB of RAM. But if that has only 1GB of RAM then internal might be only 8GB. Really confusing.
