Just be aware if you buy this drill its a low budget diy grade tool so don't expect the usual Makita quality.
Also the batteries will not fit other 'proper' Makita powertools because they are not LXT.

personally don't buy less than 2.0ah batteries now. but for some who need a little drill for bits and bobs I would highly recommend this.

Does look like a good deal for casual use if you don't plan to get any other makita battery tools.

what do you look for in a good drill? I assume the voltage but other than that don't know

personally I make sure it's lithium ion battery, minimum 2ah. the make for me doesn't matter overall however fact in a cheap one not holding charge after a certain time. I rather like Parkside products (lidl) they are well made and someone told me they are a bosch brand. also come with a really good warrenty. for a quick start tool set you can't go wrong. hope that helps

Great bit of kit for the money. Its a 'combi' which means hammer function and comes with all the accessories you need for jobs around the house. I am self employed (shop fitting) and in the trade employing 15 people and it always makes me smile when I read comments on here concerning power tools. "It's not a proper Makita" ... so what is it then ?? if it's not then contact trading standards and report it. Much better to say that its from Makitas G series which is intended for lighter, not trade use but ideal for the home user, I think us in the trade know this. "Its not LXT and the batteries wont fit LXT" ... chances are if you have a THREE HUNDRED QUID LXT kit you won't be buying this for the batteries !! In fact a 4.0 ah LXT battery will cost you more than this whole kit. "battery will only last 30 minutes before needing a recharge" ... that depends on how much you use it, just like fuel in the tank of your car. The "Ah" rating means that a battery will last that long under NO load before recharge, ie : a 1.3Ah battery should last 1 hour 20 mins running the tool with NO load at minimum speed, drawing 1 amp, a 2.0 Ah runs for 2 hours etc etc. I have ordered 2 of these kits as Xmas presents for family members who might put up a shelf twice a year or a couple of self assembly furniture packs. If you think that you have to spend £300 on an LXT kit, without the accessories, to do the same, then fair enough. So, if you want a decent tool that will do 95% of jobs a DIYer would do around the house this is great. If you want to spend £600 - £1000+ on a kit where you can interchange batteries with different tools,have enough torque to launch the space shuttle, use it 8 hours a day, every day, for a week and rely on it for a living ... then buy LXT or DeWalt or Milwaukee or whatever.

Is this one comparable to the DX100 that was on Groupon a few days ago? I nearly pulled the trigger on that one but missed it by the time I made my mind up. This one is the same price, is it better/worse? Seems to be the same accessory kit.
