Thought I saw a good deal for this universal remote at 11pm on Amazon Germany at 179 euros (£165 delivered) and ordered it, then had to cancel as it came up for £129.99 on Amazon UK at midnight!
RRP is £279.99 so this is less than half price. Cheapest on Amazon before this was £162.99 and mostly it has been £230+
No it comes with the latest XBOX bundle and a 50" quantum dot OLED TV.

Hmm, great price, but no number/letter keys means I'll be sticking with my trusty old Harmony One for a while yet methinks...

Which is better, this Harmony Elite or the Harmony Ultimate?
bat400
25 Nov 162#5
Harmony Elite by a long way!
qwerta369 to bat400
25 Nov 16#6
How so?
bat400
25 Nov 16#7
Check the reviews - all of them say that the Elite is what the Ultimate should have been. Lots of little things like the button placement for transport buttons (FF/REW), control for games consoles, all sorts of stuff got sorted between the Ultimate and the Elite.
jamhops to bat400
25 Nov 16#8
But I wouldnt say enough to justify the £50 difference as the ultimate will be on offer much like mine was £60/70 with blaster...
qwerta369
25 Nov 161#9
I have the Ultimate. Bought it just under a year ago for £79. I could return it and get this Elite for £129, but not convinced they'll be any difference.

25 Nov 16#22
how can you return a remote that has been used for almost a year?
bat400
25 Nov 161#10
Everyone has their own needs and preferences - this was the remote I wanted and had saved up for so I wasn't interested in any others. Like all these sort of deals, there's no point in spending more than you can afford or buying stuff you don't need. If you want this remote though, this is definitely a hot deal...
jamhops
25 Nov 161#11
Not denying it's hot only put it perspective for the original persons query as if they compare there current prices the contest isn't exactly comparable as the ultimate will almost certainly be on offer later (not that I checked its current price)
I would say ultimate without blaster is crap... well depending on what you want to use it with I have 2 1 with and 1 without and 2 with would have 1 minor benefit which would be nice

25 Nov 16#14
did they sort out the ridiculous clunky method of controlling Ps3 and ps4 yet?
can't justify a £130 remote personally as my harmony smart hub is working fine still, no charging or batteries replaced after several years. that's the major downside of the models with screens IMO.
jouster to Kyrt
25 Nov 16#24
Clunky? Its still not able to turn the Playstaion 4 ON...but that's the only issue, and that's down to Sony making the only way to turn the console on is via Bluetooth. So you use a controller to turn it on and then the remote will turn everything OFF. Works perfectly.
The remote is great, I was lucky enough to review one (Well the Elite Pro) and then got to keep it...an amazing remote and well worth the asking price and definitely an improvement over the Ultimate, especially if you have Hue Bulbs as there are now dedicated buttons too.

This is a genuine deal. It has popped up now and again for Prime customers and other deals, but never this cheap.
I've been waiting nearly a year for today knowing it would drop. I didn't think it would be this cheap though!

I wish they hadn't stopped including number pads on their remotes! Harmony One still going strong.

Agree. My Harmony One broke after being dropped. The screen was then unreadable. I wasnt able to find another so bought the Touch. I hate it. The touchscreen is awful and miss the hard keys for letters and numbers

The Touch was a horrible remote. incredibly slow UI that was plagued with issue and was fixed with the Ultimate except for badly placed buttons for some (it was never really an issue for me) The Ultimate was a much faster remote, especially for selecting Sky channels but at more than double the price of an Ultimate its always been a bit of a stretch.
Dont drop them and they wont break...if you drop anything it will break..

Button placement, buttons for home automation and (IMHO) the asthetics
The ultimate has strange button placement with buttons above the screen.
This is an amazing price. was going to post it myself so well done OP to get it on here.
I bought one 2nd hand on ebay for 120 a few weeks back and was really pleased with the price... now I am still happy, but this is a great deal!

25 Nov 161#38
I just looked up how much I paid for my 525, nine and half years ago: £30.51. It's getting a bit flaky now, but I'm not sure I can justify spending this much to replace it, on a whim.
Still, I've voted hot as it's a good price reduction if you're in the market for one of these.

I thought the point of Amazon Echo was it's all voice controlled?

Yes it does work. You can use Echo to activate Harmony activities with voice control. I think you might need to go via IFTTT like with the Google equivalent, but it might interact directly.

Was just thinking the same thing as just got ordered a Dot.
I bought it on Amazon too and selected no rush delivery (so they wouldn't despatch before the offer came through) just in case this happened and the price went up.
Luckily I got £115 and will cancel the Amazon one.

It's a version of the NEEO. Looks cool but I'm not going to read too much:

Definitely, can't understand why another manufacturer hasn't made something similar. As clever as they are the basic pointing remote control function is a couple of quid worth. The rest is just grouping those remote functions together and calling it an activity. Can't see they would be that complicated for a company out there to do one better.
I believe the Xbox One S has infra red on the controller and you can set up multiple devices and activities on that. Might give it a try when I get one.

As a backer of the NEEO, we're almost there. Tooling has been shipped to China for the final furlong, check the updates on Kickstarter.
I'm a long time fan of Logitech hardware, not just the remotes. For a long time the Harmony had the monopoly, but they took too long in adopting other technologies such as Zigbee, ZWave, PS3/PS4, IP etc... Now I appreciate they're there or there abouts now, but the NEEO is the killer IF (when) it's released.
There's been teasers along the way to suggest they have 'big' backers involved. It just needs to see the light of day and have a positive reception. Providing it doesn't disappoint, it will be huge.

26 Nov 16#71
What makes the NEEO so much better?
I saw this harmony deal - had added the hub to camelcamelcamel as want to do the connected home thing (got an Alexa, and just got the smartthings deal too), but didn't realise this came with the hub - which it obviously would thinking about it. Thought it was just a fancy remote.
Can you use the harmony hub with a phone/app? Is the remote that useful?
Vini to Shinoke
26 Nov 16#73
For me it was the zwave stuff (amongst other HA things) and the fact that the projected 'release date' for the NEEO, was before Logitech got with the times and supported all these technologies. The NEEO also looks better (imo).
As I have £££ invested in NEEO, I've not kept up with Logitech and I'm sure the harmony range now support things like IP, zwave and zigbee etc.

26 Nov 16#72
You can use the hub with iOS or android app.
The remote just brings you convenience, another IR sender, physical buttons and works for kids who don't have phone.

26 Nov 16#74
You need to buy a bridge for zwave and zigbee but the hub can talk to other ip/wifi bridges like hue, nest etc
Yes the neeo look lovely. Love that high res screen. Beautiful

anyone having niggling issues with theirs. mine could not find any devices connected via WiFi so I added them all individually. now I have odd issues like, I can turn on ps4, by PS button not recognised etc.
for WiFi issue could it be because some devices are on my Virginia media 2g, others on 5g and some hardwired?
