Bought this on Monday (thanks OP), just noticed whilst browsing warehouse deals on amazon that 2 units have appeared at £25.19 (£20.15 after 20% warehouse promotion). Will probably be snapped up rather quickly so get in whilst you can.
Thanks. I did alter the settings somewhat in xsplit camera controls, but shall install the logitech stuff too =)
edit: yeah installed the proper software and much better.

The software is vital. Unless camming in a constantly changing environment, untick all the auto settings (right light, auto white balance etc) and use the exposure, gain and white balance sliders to set the right values yourself. Also be aware, the higher the exposure value, the more motion blur you get. So better to set the gain high (at the risk of some image noise) and the exposure as low as you can get away with if that is important. OR, just improve/increase your lighting.

I talk on Skype a lot - it's a total PITA to have to use your phone for long video chats, no matter how good the camera is. Positioning it is tricky (who has a tripod for their phone? even cases with kickstands aren't that common), and it's not as though you're going to hold it in your hand for hours on end.

Anyone that owns one be kind enough to tell me what the width of the lip that hangs on the front of the monitor, the screen bezel on mines thin and don't want to much obstruction. Thanks

Any parents looking for this for their vlogging son/daughter then you cannot go wrong. This is one of the best webcams available for under £100 and has had many positive press reviews. It is superseeded by the C922 but you will be lucky to get that at anywhere near this price. Probably the best deal of Black Friday/Cyber Monday in my opinion.

It is very hard to find good camera in a tablet but most phones come with very good selfie camera these days.
Bigfootpete
28 Nov 16#57
It's a good price - but don't most people use a tablet these days?
HD is good if the broadband supports it - my connection to my sister in NZ is not always that great - signal keeps breaking up and we end up stopping the video.

My iPhone and Android camera work very well. I use Skype, facetime, viber and whatsapp Imo video conferencing. Another advantage of using mobile is it does not tie you down to one place. I use in car(when someone else driving) , and outdoors many times if I got good 4g signal.

If you want to use them for streaming you might as well by a dedicated camera. I have a Xperia Z5 but it's too much hassle to set it up for using as a webcam to stream especially as you might end up with msg or phone calls half way through!!

This webcam is excellent, I've got the C920-C (business version) - I prefer my version as it has a privacy slider.
I used to buy camera's like this 5 yrs ago. But just use mobile with inbuilt cameras which are better than this.

CampGareth to sam1970
28 Nov 16#40
The main argument is that most of those high resolution cameras aren't actually high quality. Case in point my tablet has a 5MP front facing camera and since it's an nvidia shield that camera is "optimised for twitch streaming" and other marketing junk. In practice the C920 beats it for quality easily, better in low light, higher framerate, better colours, microphone's clearer. Same story on my Dell XPS 13, the camera and microphone are usable but easily beaten by dedicated units.

Great price, but I bought one of these and if you read about it on the internet you will find plenty of people who say they vary in quality alot, the main problems are the accuracy of the colours and with mine it looks really washed out.
On the other hand, it does have a hardware h.264 encoder and you can see the detail in the HD, but it depends on what software you are using it with as to whether you will benefit from this. Last time I looked, when using Video messaging this ONLY worked in HD with skype.
I only use the webcam with Skype, and I have a logitech 9000 Pro webcam (non-HD 2MP) as well which in my experience seems to have much better colour depth, but it is definitely easier to see things further away with the HD c920. I would point out though that is you dont have the bandwidth or the skype network is overloaded, you may find the HD is downgraded a little anyway....
I paid £37.18 over a year ago and that was a great deal at the time
