I had one of these but had to deactivate it because the alarm kept going off and the noise gave me a headache and made me feel sick.

products that have the potential to produce carbon monoxide should be forced to provide a free alarm as the product usually costs a bomb anyway so it should be chucked in free with it.

It's your responsibility to safeguard yourself, they need replacing every 5 - 7 years anyway, do you think the company you buy your appliance from should keep track of that too.

Every house with a gas burning device should have one. Personally prefer one with a digital read out but great price.

I had to bin this last week as it kept beeping three times even when resetting it and it's a piercing noise. Gave us a scare, but bought a replacement and no alarm went off and working correctly.

Worth getting one to take on holiday abroad as it's not always compulsory to have a carbon monoxide alarm fitted in a property you may be renting

Every house should have at least one of these if you have a gas feed.

no i believe they should provide one with the original purchase as good will gesture, as we have seen with companies such as hotpoint recently or even pretty much all samsung products that seem to be catching fire, companies have little regard for anyone's safety and its more about making money and blaming the victim when a problem goes wrong. I doubt you would be so snarky if a family member if yours died from carbon monoxide not long after buying a product that needs one. If anything it would safeguard the companies from lawsuits and considering it would cost them less than 1% of what it cost them to make the appliance in the first place, yes i do believe one should be included considering the profit made even if it is just a bare minimum version.

Agreed. I think these things should be cheaper in general.

I have CO detectors in the garage (where the boiler is), on the hallway and landing these are hardwired and I take a portable one similar to this when we go away.
Such a shame my flat is on electric heating. No gas unfortunately. :disappointed:

My mother has a gas hob that triggered the CO detector I fitted, upon checking it was faulty (the grill bit) and needed replacement, so bear in mind anything that burns gas is liable..
