I bought LGG5 few months ago (I found Very deal here) and maybe I just don't have luck with LGs (before I had LGG3), but I have feeling they released once again untested product.
Some of the failures I have
1) the default charging module always give the signal to the phone as the charger is plugged in and the phone screen doesn't want to turn off. That affects the battery time.
2) I replaced the charging module with the camera grip I got with the phone and now it doesn't have these issues, but the phone is bulky and it has problems when it powers off. It just can't boot from the first try.
3) It's overheating again (like previous models) and this time after 10-15min of using it, I get ghosts on my screen (previous content) which disappear after I turn off the screen for a while
4) The battery life is bad. It can't handle full day of being on standby only. I always need to have extra-chargers with me.

As I said, maybe I just didn't have luck. The speed of the phone is amazing and camera lenses (normal and wide) are the best I've seen so far. But I'm definitely sure that my next phone won't be LG.

I liked my LG G5 mainly for its brilliant camera and camera with wide angle lens. my main reason for selling it was due to the GPS issue I was having with it (google it if your curious. common fault apparently but LG will repair it if you send it to them). anyway I ended up getting the HTC 10 and I'm so glad I did because it's a great phone (camera not as good as G5 though) I feel it's better in every way compared to the G5 and it has a built in DAC which by the way is the best DAC available on any phone apparently, so there's no need to have to switch out the bottom part of your phone(G5) to get great sounding audio.

cheers OP. my lg g2 died on me literally two days ago- screen started doing funny things and 'ghosting' display- still fully touch functional mind you, but cant really see anything due to the bleached screen. i had a lg g5 in the basket from a different site at £340, but after cashback it makes sense to take up on this offer. will probably keep it in the box for the week to see if black friday offers anything better, and then decide what ima gonna do. :-) cheers OP.

Usually tracks at a lower amount and then when they reconcile the purchase amount etc it'll update. I don't think you can even submit a claim for some time yet anyway (30 days?!) so just wait and see what happens

Quidco terms for the Argos deal specifically state that the cash back does not apply to Fast track or reserve and collect items unless mentioned otherwise, so I think people can forget this!
bigup to misterleoni
20 Nov 16 1 #30
This is what quidco says for me:

Cashback will only be paid on orders paid for online for either Fast Track collection or home delivery, unless stated otherwise
hollger to misterleoni
20 Nov 16 1 #31
Umm.. it says on the Quidco website "10% for all Fast Track and home delivery sales" - this is the actual headline for the 10% offer. Clicking on it, it says 'Cashback will only be paid on orders paid for online for either Fast Track collection or home delivery, unless stated otherwise' so as long as you actually do what it says, i.e. pay for the Fast Track option online OR use home delivery then you qualify for the offer. After all, it IS the offer...

This is a great price with the 10% Quidco added in. As with any phone manufacturer, these are going to end of line so you might, just might, get a better deal on this in the run up to Christmas (I reckon around £250 - but none of the B&O guff with it).

Great bit of kit though, superb camera.

Great deal. I called Vodafone and ordered the G5 for £19.80 a month. Unlimited texts calls and 5GB data. Should have been £32 but he offered me 40% off because its a clearence phone and also i said i was leaving. Vodafone outlet online automatically gives you 20% off. 20 Nov 16 2 #59
You have no clue do you? Look up the bootloop issue for LG devices. It's a hardware issue, not software.
misterleoni
20 Nov 16 #60
It's a fault with the G4 though. All manufacturers have issues with models from time to time - e.g. Samsung NAND failure on the original Note series. Doesn't mean this device will have the same problem - in fact it's arguably less likely than on other phones as they will likely have learned from any mistakes.

LG G4 and V10 are both plagued by bootloop and screen retention due to the Snapdragon 808 constantly overheating. No reported problems with Snapdragon 820 so far but that's all this phone got, good chip and camera setup. Shame on LG really.

20 Nov 16 #66
apart from the extra battery built in to the Cam unit, does this package come with only one battery?
misterleoni
20 Nov 16 2 #67
More like £50. This has some advantages over the Samsung depending on your use case, though the Edge is a nice device. This has USB C for one, so will play well with a Macbook or Chromebook Pixel if you travel a lot; it has a removable battery - which some people like - and the battery pack is cheap to buy. People who keep their phones for years won't have to worry about battery deterioration with the G5 as they will just be able to buy a new battery. Everything is glued in with the S7 E so you'd have to pay Samsung to do it, and ship the device off. This also has a wide angle lens, which is great for big group shots or scenic photos (I really missed the G5 for this when I took the S7 on holiday to Cornwall). The G5 has a much better loudspeaker than the S7 - so if you do a lot of hands free calls or like to wander around the house blasting podcasts out then this is another thing in the LG's favour.

No phone is for everyone but for those who want a G5 and are interested in the accessories then this is a good deal. I think some people forget that different people like different phones - not everyone wants a Samsung or an iPhone and the G5 will suit some people better. It's an underrated device in my opinion.

I've been pondering that question for the last week.

If you want a great camera and/or a smaller than 5.5" screen, go for the G5. If you prefer a good phone without any clear weaknesses (although the camera is just okay) or an active modding community, go for the OP3T.

If the 3T had the same back as the OPO, I'd go for that one. I consider it's design very generic and am not fond of the camera despite of added EIS as the sensor is just mediocre. Hence, I'm most likely going to opt for the G5 once I can get the phone without bundle for £300. Or go for this offer and try to sell the bundled stuff...
hindsight1
20 Nov 16 #76
a) good luck finding a refurb with a two-year warranty
b) an extra 30-40 does make a difference to some
c) The S7E is not a "much better" phone. Yes, the battery lasts longer (but is non-removable), but this is about the only advantage (and, to some, disadvantage) over the G5.

Better battery life, better camera..bigger sensor

better battery life is why i need to upgrade in the first place, no need to upgrade if your old phone has the same battery life as the new phone

also the exynos is way way more efficient than the snapdragon 820

it costs £30 for s6 edge battery replacement service...will probably be the same for the s7 edge

Wow! Super hot, I purchased this when it was just the B&O deal, the friend deal is brilliant.

Love the G5, it's a great phone.

With regards to the B&O accessories, the headphones are alright but nothing special, the hifi plus module actually does a good job shaping the sound and matches some dedicated music players.

Same for me.

Repaired 2, 6 months later back to bootlooping - a few weeks apart.

Just doesn't seem worth the hassle.

It's funny how one model can put you off a brand for life.

I remember buying a Samsung S4. The all new singing and dancing phone. It looked beautiful in action and I wanted one. An update a couple of months after buying, and it continued to lock up and switch on and off a few times a day. Three or four times back to Samsung over the next year or so, and I finally gave up. I'd never buy a Samsung again.

Hifi dac module £70
Bo headfones £130

21 Nov 16 #105
Yup, which makes the apparent upcoming deal at Argos on Friday probably a better option, if you can find a store with stock. If you don't need the add-on items then the bare phone will be easier than mucking about selling them on, obviously all down to availability of the phone on Friday.

I've bought this deal but haven't opened any of it yet, will see how it goes this week and may be returning.
hollger
21 Nov 16 #106
Absolutely!

I've had nothing but Samsung since the S2 and I've not had a single issue, but people I know who've had the same handsets as me have had issues that have required sending back to Samsung etc - I guess I must have been lucky?! I only know 1 person with a G5 and he's had no issues so I've taken the chance.
Pspvita
21 Nov 16 #107
Thos prices for modules are wrong the Bo headfones alone are worth 130 lol
hollger
21 Nov 16 #108
You're very unlikely to get that much for the headphones. Amazon are selling them brand new for £109, between £60-£80 seems to be more realistic. At current prices (giving a quick look on auction sites) I reckon you'd be looking at between £110-£140 all in, which is a small profit or loss vs the upcoming Argos deal - but of course, that all hinges on whether you can actually get one on Friday or not.
two8tone
21 Nov 16 #109

You'll hear a lot of negative talk about every phone/manufacturer on forums like this. Everyone has a story to tell about Samsung, HTC, LG etc and how great or crap they were. Best thing to do is go with what you want from a phone and the price point you're happy to go with. If anything goes wrong you're covered by warranty.

Which is the better phone LG G5, Moto G4 plus or Oneplus 3. Slightly different prices but narrowed it down to these 3.

Bought this today. Straight out of box, phone switches itself off when I try to take photos with the flash. Back to the shop I go...

I don't think they've been Goldstar for about 20 years!

G5 in most respects really - better camera, higher res screen, upgradable storage and user-replaceable batter, better loudspeaker, Oneplus has more RAM and is a really nice phone in the hand. Moto G4 is solid enough but bottom of the pile really.
