It says this is HDR pro? Is this the same as an HDR tv.

I want to be able to enjoy the ps4 pro, but need an HDR tv, but im not sure if HDR pro is the same thing?

You need to look out for a 4k tv! How can people be dumb as a rock in an age of google is beyond me!

They are rbgw panels. A cheap way of getting the amount of pixels but 3/4 aren't showing true colour

TVs used to be made with Cathode ray tube (the old box shaped ones) they had about 500 lines of picture info. With the advent of flat screen technology a 2 new standards appeared with 720 line (HD Ready) and 1080 lines (HD). Recently TVs with higher resolution were announced (4k) however the standards for this have only recently been agreed, and content is limited (e.g. some YouTube and Netflix content) This TV is 4k and supports some of the UHD features such as 10-bit.which it here HDPro term. This Samsung does not have the full UltraHD gamut or high nits, the default is that UHD is disabled on inputs and needs to be switched on in the set up menu (see AVS link above) its a 10 bit unit

Just ignore them, they don't know what they're talking about. The only issue with this TV is that it doesn't like fast movement on things like sports.

I think for general use this TV will be fine. Some points to clarify

- This is a full 4k resolution screen
- The HDR feature is arguably more important than the resolution of the TV
- The way the image is produced is also important in determining the picture quality (PQ)

So this TV has the 4k resolution and a reasonable extended colour gamut and a cheap price. LCD panels cannot ever produce the "best" image but in rooms that are no light controlled (e.g. where you view with natural light) etc they are fine. For the very best consumer grade TV you have to spend more, a lot more, on OLED screen with HRD.

Even if you purchase the most expensive OLED TV you will be unable to meet your requirement above. Why? The sound from ANY TV will be compromised, even using a PS3! To get the most from a AV set up you need 1) A TV 2) an AV processor 3) Speakers + Sub 4) AV room with controlled light (e.g. no daylight)

So if you want this unit just for gaming you might be better off with a computer monitor and gaming headphones or an AV setup as outlined above. It depends on where you plan to install the TV and use its.

This is a fine 4K TV for general use and provides an excellent picture.

No TV comes with a decent, speakers, Freeview of FreeSAT tuners as these are just cheap add on they add to the panels. If you want good terrestrial / FreeSAT get a Humax unit superb even SD looks superb, audio is also exceptional.

Thanks. Looks like you are correct this looks like the Terrestrial version and the Currys unit is the FreeSAT model.
I tend to purchase the cheapest TV from a range as I only want a good screen (panel) and the plug in a Humax Tuner, Media centre (e.g. RasPi with Kodi) as the Picture is so much better, so in this case I'd this one, save the pennies and buy a Humax (new or refurb direct from them)

I'm not impressed with any of the tuners built into TV, don't get me wrong the picture is fine for casual viewing (Kitchen in daylight etc)

This is a decent panel and a good price for 4K HDR. Heat. If you don't need the 4k the Tesco deal for the Sharp 49" @£199 is worth a look, just purchased one :smiley:

If you, like me are looking to purchase a TV that can be used for 4K and PS4 Pro gaming, then it's a good choice. Input lag is 33ms so is generally considered good for 4K gaming. Anything below 40ms is considered good, below 30 is very good and below 20 is excellent.

I went for the currys 620v one (linked above by thfc1882) in the end. (edit: it's rgbw too, goddamnit.)

While it is true that the hisense tv doesnt have an IPS panel it has a VA Panel off axis viewing is pretty washed out , however the comparison is wrong in the srnse that the hisense model has a 10bit (does not support frc ) panel instead of a 8 bit one , this i have been told in writing by hisense techtop man himself -all 2016 models in fact been told i can hold the email as proof , also so been told that they have currently been experiencing displaying 4k you tube videos and playing certain types encoded .mkv 4k files through usb playback, apparentlya further update will fix this issue.
However i must say i saw the tvs on display in jhon lewis and currys i must say there wasnt much difference between the hisense and other "bigger" brands , only better one that immediatly jumped at me was the sammsung quantum dot technology one it was clearly better other than that the Lg model seemed to be on par, i cannot comment on the hisense uled model as i didnt see this on display

There were a few in store at my local Tesco. 15 months ago I purchased a 43in LG 4K for £429 (£150 cash, £260 worth of doubled-up clubcard points, £20 promo code) that had developed a horizontal fault with lines across the screen, no problems getting a returns authorisation and taking it back to store to exchange. I replaced with this 49in model and even received a £30 refund!

I'm not too impressed with the HDR so far, in HDR mode the backlight/brightness seems rather dim and colours washed out in compared to the other picture modes. I've tried adjusting the picture settings but can't seem to improve the brightness. Does anyone have any recommended picture settings?

I can't really complain given that I've paid £120 overall. The menus seems a little sluggish compared to my LG 55UF850V. Perhaps I've become accustomed to the picture quality on Sky Q, but the quality and pixelation on Freeview HD channels is terrible, standard Freeview is even worse. The detail of the 4K videos on YouTube are exceptional however.

The gf has bought this tv but it's not upscaling anything like sky or blu ray player.
Any reason why? And do I need to change my hdmi leads?
I can't think of anything else. I turned something on on the hdmi ports.
