I got the 58" hisense from John Lewis and it was terrible with the firmware it had preloaded. the offline version totally transformed the TV and it's now very good. Anyone looking to get hisense I suggest you check what the firmware is like before choosing over this tv

Thank you, that was extremely helpful and for the reasons you listed, this TV wouldn't be worthwhile for me. I have a PS4 so wouldn't be able to play 4k blu rays and could also do without spending additional money on Netflix upgrades etc.
Thanks again

Any Sky subscribers here? Can they give us their TV model number please? I believe the Sky model must be good and if this is one of them, it could be good!

How can this be bad for Xbox one, but be 4k with hdr, so confusing this TV buying marlarky
Harryisme to jack jumpin
30 Nov 16#53
Because the Xbox One S is primarily a Game console, and for gaming the display or input lag is more important than features likes 4K and HDR. If there is a noticeable delay between moving your character with your controller and it actually moving on screen, this will affect your gaming experience, specially in online games.
If you plan to watch 4K movies on your console, then the input lag doesn't matter, but if you buy a console for gaming, input lag can cause some serious problems.
This has a 10 bit panel vs 8 bit in 620, 620 has some picture enhancing stuff which are usually better turned off anyway...

LG PMI (Picture Mastering Index) 120Hz = 60Hz is the real refresh rate though
I think...
Nexusfifth to gstarblues
30 Nov 161#50
No, no it is 60Hz, PMI has nothing to do with it (it is simply a measure of how good it is in processing picture, it is similar to samsungs picture quality index and goes from 100 to 2100, with LG's oleds being in 2000s naturally)

Very strange, I still get: "The website is temporarily unavailable. Please try back later. We apologize for any inconvenience." after following your link...
Anyway, yes 8bit+FRC is not true 10 bit but is close and there was never gonna be true 10 bit at this price point (also probably the reason why I thought it is 8 bit, because LG says so...)
Anyway I am only intereted in specs I can see and this one is awesome and I am very happy with it.
Just to be clear, the sales people in most shops don't have any clue about tech they are selling, the tech has simply overtaken them. They know a few buzz words and can maybe sell stuff to people who do not know better.
What LG did extremely bad for sales of this tv is they did not include 4k sample on it, so what you have seen in store is this tv displaying sd (or at best fhd without hdr) content vs sony's and Samsung's with dedicated 4k hdr samples which show off their tvs.
When I bought this I cam to the store with a usb stick with some free 4k hdr clips and plugged them into each tv I was considering and this tv shines as much as others. (the salesman could not believe the difference)
This tv with proper 4k hdr content simply shines. With less good sources it is not as good but is still very good (it is struggling with blacks without hdr, but that is to be expected).
Also no bells and whistles such as magic remote, this tv is all about its picture quality at reasonable price point.
Simply said, it will look excellent, but will have some lag because it is not designed for gaming, if you only want to play fifa or other less dynamic games it should be ok. (Haven't had a chance to try it with xbox yet though so this is just a theory)

Out of stock now but you can get the next model up 620v from currys for £419 with their £30 off code (CE30)
I have this one at home and was deciding for a while between this and a similar tv like you have.
The Sony tv you have has a really good panel but lacks all the bells or whistles of the new technology coming in (HDR, 4k,...). that said at this point in time it takes a decent amount of other tech investment to get the full value out of these new features,
- say pay 9£ a month instead of 6£ for uhd Netflix
- or have Amazon prime (80£ a year) (and both Netflix and Amazon still have fairly limited amount of content in 4k)
- 4k Blu rays look breathtaking on this tv, but they cost about 20£ each and you need a special 4k blu ray player cheapest of which is probably xbox one S... (PS4 pro doesn't do it), there is also a problem if you have speakers or home cinema setup which does not support HDCP 2.2, but I think just a soundbar should be ok.
- 0 piracy in 4k atm (there is some, but it is not much better than an upscale of fhd content)
So the answer to the question is this better than a quality fhd screen is yes if you are willing to pay for it and probably no if you only ever watch regular tv or normal blu rays as quality fhd will probably give you a better picture than this at fhd.
Hope it helps...

Display spec is actually currently down  I bought this a week ago for less than this under impression it is 8 bit as the cost cut was more important to me and am happy with 8 bit pallette of colours. I can tell you it looks super nice regardless.
I bought this Sony earlier in the month from Argos for £349 along with a sound bar on offer with the TV (£419 overall). How does this TV stack up with it?

I second that. I looked at the "620" model the weekend ( same tv but few months newer) and the picture was pants despite all the online reviews. The curry's sales manager couldn't even tell me if it was HDR despite website asking it was but shop info didn't state it was.

I guess that answered my question, I wanted to know where I could find information about the input lag for this device as it would be connected directly to a Xbox One S, PS4 and a PC.
