Just a little heads-up. If, like me, the Lenovo Support Assistant (or whatever it is called) shows that your warranty has expired, you can fill out THIS FORM and attach the receipt BT shop sent you (it doesn't mention used or refurb). They will add the full 12 months warranty from date of invoice.

Definitely and the drive isn't as slow as I thought it would be coming from mostly SSD devices the last few years. No plans to replace it with an SSD. So many uses for this laptop

Hi all,
I also have this model notebook, and been using one for some time. I have noticed that the hinge on mine is slightly loose; its generally fine but there is a bit of play in it when it is open and not fully rock solid as you'd expect. It is quite evident when you give it a slight nudge/ push on the back of the screen when it's open.
Have anyone else found this on theirs? I would grateful to get your responses since I don't really see these in the shop to test whether it is normal as designed or if it needs repair!

I suppose I would agree with that, although as long as it is stable I'm not too fussed about that - certainly not the worst I've dealt with. It's not typical Thinkpad build quality - mostly plastic with an awful touchpad, but it is made for the education sector so I am not entirely surprised. I'm very happy with it.

When setting up it just keeps getting to the "one moment please screen" then restarts. The tech guy I spoke to said it is a common problem with some laptops that have accessories plugged i or connected. I switched off the wifi and made sure nothing was connected but still same loop. The guy said that the motherboard is probably faulty.

I tried to activate windows, it said they key us being used by another machine. Then it gives a massive string of numbers for an installation ID.
Went through a process on the mobile site, and it gave me another massive string to enter and then bingo. Active and updating to 10 on the accessibility upgrade.

Hi, I got one but can not get it to load windows 10. I did a clean install of windows 10 and am stuck in a loop during setup. Apparently it is due to a hardware issue. Looks like I am going to return.

Doing it now, but on original HDD so it's quite sloow.. If that won't worjk, I will install fresh copy on my ssd and ask microsoft for help.
Edit 2: English version doesn't activate I'll ask on their chat.
I also struggle to activate Win 10 Pro on this machine, any ideas? I did a clean install of Polish version of Win 10 Pro from the stick but it keeps asking me for a valid key at every stage, should I try again with english win10Pro?

I'd try again with an English version as it could be the Education license is language locked (not sure if that's a thing)
I downloaded an all-in-one ISO which covers all versions and it activated the bios license once it connected to the internet.

Mine has arrived. Original box. Taped up by someone with a tape fetish.
Inside. Loose charger. Device in one layer of bubblewrap. No packaging so rattling about.
Device is in immaculate condition.
Has clean install of windows 8.1 and now I'm having the license key battle to try and get windows 10 on it

Mine also had a fresh copy of WIndows 8.1 installed, from what I can see it's scratchless and in vgc condition :smiley: Below new one against my 5 yo thinkpad.

Just received in original box, previously opened. No visible marks, scratches or dead pixels.
Update
The Windows 8.1 key doesn't seem to be Pro, and doesn't match the bios license. I did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro, and the bios license activated with no problem. It is actually an Education license, which could be why the shipped license key didn't match because retailers are not allowed to sell this outside of MS Edu Vol agreements as far as I'm aware.

I don't think I've ever had a bad customer return from them. Looking at the amount of units they had it could either be a business that bought bulk, tried one and returned them for whatever reason - or bulk Lenovo repaired units. I've had used items from them straight from the manufacturer.

Tried on mobile, tried on desktop, tried on paypal mobile and desktop, tried credit card and desktop. Allows you to add it to basket but then after payment it says product no longer available check basket. You check the basket and it's still in the basket.
