Only downer is the battery life really.
And by a little more you mean almost £200 or basically 50% more.

To be honest, for everyday use this is brill. Every product will have its negatives, nothings perfect. You will never buy one if you go off hukd comments and reviews :stuck_out_tongue: . I'm not just saying it because I'm the OP, I only post a deal if I think it's good for the price.

Would this play GTA V well ? Does the i7 and 8gb make up for shared graphics ?
a kindly beast to DonkeyKonk
27 Nov 16#23
depends really. don't know if it will play gta5 certainly through cpu has the grunt. if the ram is upgradeable then that will help but Intel graphics is a big no no for aaa games...
Pondlife to DonkeyKonk
27 Nov 16#37
Well 8gb is minimum spec for GTA v anyway isn't it.
It plays, but wouldn't say well, the GPU is clearly what's holding it back.

The John Lewis version of this laptop for £449 has a dedicated nvidia 2gb graphics card, which might help those wanting to play games

Also comes with a 2TB hdd.... Which I would probably swap out for an SSD but it's not often you see laptops with a 2TB harddrive. I would be interested to see what model it is though. The only 2.5" 2tb harddrive I ever saw was something by Seagate, who are not very reliable. Maybe things have changed since I last checked though. Here's the link:
It's the same price as OP's so if you're going to take the plunge there's no reason not to get this one instead. That's if it comes back in stock.

considering this option from JL and getting the +3 yr warranty extension (one of my main requirements is to replace the device if it develops a physical fault). anyone know why I might choose this option from Argos? They don't seem to offer any warranty or service extension for their products so can I get the same directly from Lenovo?
androidavis to tidymonkey81
27 Nov 16#38
I think the 3 year warranty and 2gb Nvidia dedicated graphics card are worth the little extra at John Lewis. The benefit of buying the one at Argos, without those benefits of the JL deal, is pretty much that it costs less money

SSD solid state drive. They have no moving parts in them and thus can load programmes and boot up a pc up to 10 times faster then a conventional hard drive. They cost a lot more and tend have lesser capacity then normal hard drives

People falling hook, line and sinker for Intel's badge engineering. Don't just buy it because it's got an "i7" processor (because it's a lowly dual core) - you will find a lot of i5 processors will beat this.
