I have one of these. It is perfect for for picking up and starting straight away. Web browsing, emailing, word processing its ideal for.

Why are all the others I can see (other retailers) HDD or eMMC, this is the only one I can find that's SSD?
le_jaeger to claire7519
24 Nov 162#12
They sometimes refer to the MMC as an SSD since it's a type of flash storage. All these little netbooks will be eMMC
fishmaster to claire7519
25 Nov 161#42
It's eMMC which is solid state. eMMC and SSD's both use NAND flash chips, the IOPS, 4K and sequential read/write are all better on an SSD versus eMMC, but eMMC will still feel faster to use than a conventional hard drive due to the very low latency and better random read/write performance. It's essentially an SD card soldered to the motherboard.

its NOT an SSD , its a 32Gb eMMc module like all the other cheap laptops have

Do not buy these low power machines which lack RAM to run windows properly. The manufacturers are releasing 4GB versions of these machines for the same price, BE SMART and wait for those https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6WzpmtJ_f0

Windows 10 is runs quite well on 2gb it's not like 7 in that regard
The processor doesn't support more than 2GB of RAM, so cannot be upgraded.

Watch the video where he compares the performance of 2gb and 4gb. They have already released 4gb version of hp's stream 11 in Sept in USA, it will be here soon. They are probably wanting to get rid of the old 2GB stock here so withholding the 4GB model here until all the 2GB units are sold. Just wait a month or 2 for the new 4GB memory versions.

25 Nov 16#20
Whilst your point is valid it's only £99, you could have 2 months of use out of it and resell via eBay, Gumtree or on here for £75 and in that time you've actually had a product in your possession. Then combine that with the new models may be £150-200, so why not take the deal on the table now and forget about future specs.

Also available on Amazon at £99.99, obviously no £20 'first time buyer' discount as with Very, but have you ever dealt with Very customer support? Worth £20 extra all day from Amazon.
I don't think they shift all that well on ebay/gumtree, not when people can buy a new machine for £99, maybe get £50 in a few months more like. They are selling the 4GB models for the same price as they were selling the 2GB models in USA, so same will happen here once 2GB models have been shifted. Seems like poor value for money to invest in these in the circumstances.

cold, z37xx family which is 3 years old now. competent in it's time but you can get tablets with it on for £60, it'll run basic programmes and some indie games but will freeze if you multitask.
need a new budget chip, the atom z37xx and z8300's are essentially the same and suffer hugely in modern laptop use.

I was considering this or the Asus E200ha with Z8300 cpu but in my heart of hearts what I really want is a a i3 Skylake with a maximum screen size of 13" for under £250 but such a beast doesn't seem to exist :disappointed:
dheydl to pinchez
25 Nov 16#31
Also considered an E200HA as it looks the part, light and robust enough to chuck in a bag and has a very nice touchpad. Sadly, a very washed out screen with poor viewing angles and the processor does struggle doing the most basic of tasks - like opening folders. Not the best marriage with Windows 10 but may fare a bit better with Linux.
The 4GB versions exist in the US but are hard to get hold of and cost a fair bit more, especially if you want more than 32GB of storage. I doubt we shall be seeing those around the £100 mark any time soon especially after the Brexit price rises start to kick in next year.

I got the similarly specced Lenovo S21e in February, it runs Windows 10 fine and it's my sole computer. One limitation is of course the storage space, so I purchased a Samsung 64 GB Micro SD card from Amazon for £17, you can get 128gb for only £25 nowadays.

yes, I run it on a 1gb tab and one of these machines, it struggles on both. as long as people realize it's a tablet with a keyboard then it's OK, but that is what it is and they should expected similar performance

I have one of these; bought it from Amazon Warehouse recently when they were running the student 20% off Warehouse (needed it straight away for college).
It's fine - it's light, the battery life is good enough to last the day at college, and I can run Word plus a browser with no problems. Keyboard is okay for the price. Exactly what I need for a college laptop. Also it opens up flat, so I can use it lying in bed with my knees up and the laptop resting there
Problems:
- Windows borked itself like a day after I got it, and reinstalled itself. Fine now.
- Chipped very easily on the edge after a few days - I sling it naked in my school bag so that's to be expected.
- Some of my Pinball Arcade tables are slow so I'm stuck playing Big Shot at college :disappointed:
- One of the rubber feet came off because they're VERY grippy and I dragged the laptop across a table rather than lifting it. So now it drops off quite easily.
- Viewing angles are appalling.
- Most importantly: TOUCHPAD GESTURES DO NOT WORK. I didn't realise this would annoy me as much as it does - no zooming, no two-finger scrolling.
If it'll fit your needs, and you can't afford more, it's not bad. And mine's red. Who doesn't love a red laptop?
Thanks, I'll give it a go - if it doesn't work, I might try some other software fixes. I'd thought it was a hardware limitation.

Anyone that's ordered one will not be disappointed. I bought one in PC World (£140), needed a basic machine for running a specific car diagnostic program. It's light, looks good/well made for the price. Nice handy size, good battery life apparently. I also find the picture/screen to be excellent, in fact better than some of my more expensive laptops

This is a very low grade machine, unless you need ultimate portability, something like Lenovo X201 from ebay would be a much better choice for the price (and even being 2nd hand machine - it will last you much longer).

The processor is basic compared to those you'd find in a standard laptop (Intel i3/i5), which are currently around 3 times faster (a 909 CPU mark versus around 3000 for an i3):
