This is a Black Friday Deal of the Day offer on the tactical version of the LED Lenser M7, complete with a glass breaking ring round the button. LED Lenser aren't the cheapest of torches by far, but are rated by many people for their quality and engineering - this sort of price cut seems to happen for a day or two a year, so if you need one or want one now is the time to grab it.
Use good rechargeable i.e eneloop, fujitsu etc and a Technoline BC1000 charger myself

Yikes, has no one used an led lenser with rechargeables?
I thought you owned some?
Surely you don't use disposable batteries?
Newbold to Shinoke
30 Nov 16#53
Been using rechargeables with LED Lensers for years without any apparent problem. They vary - some models say they can't be used, but others are OK. Theoretically there may be a potential problem with some models, but so far there hasn't been, and I take the line that using non-rechargeables would cost so much it would be cheaper to replace a failed torch.
Ajibee to Shinoke
30 Nov 16#54
I usually use Costco's own brand Kirkland AAA batteries - convenient, cheap and recyclable.
Ajibee
29 Nov 16#51
I wouldn't make presumptions about the suitabiliy of rechargeables - rechargeable AAA batteries are 1.2v each, not 1.5v like alkaline batteries. Do some research first and perhapsmshare you find. HTH.

How well does this work as a bike light?
Seems a good deal, and need a new bike light too, and would like a torch. Seems silly to get both separately.

Can you provide a link to 3camels or similar to support your recollection about the 'normal' price being £25 or so? Certainly there were and are occasional discounts to that sort of price on Amazon, but it's not the everyday normal price.

The T7 is the 'tactical' version of the P7 to which I referred. As mccririck says, this, the T7M, is a different kettle of fish from the T7/P7 from two years ago. Further, if you want to show that it's the normal price you'd be better to use 3camels to back up what you're saying.

It's not so handy for EDC though!
I always rather liked Frankie Boyle's observation that if the SNP get their way and the nuclear subs leave Scotland we'll have to resort to the traditional Stanley knife and half brick for defence!

That wasnt the M version. the M version was always much more expensive - this is a constant current version which does not get dimmer as the batteries run down.

it was more or less the same model and it was like a tub of chocolate thats posted every other day. ie: it was the standard price.
Blimey square shadow, that will be cree T6 then, that is old tech for led torches. Have about 5 lensers, cpl Maglite, Fenix, olight, Nitecore, surefire, trust fire and a few other brands.
some of the Chinese direct to look at is Convoy, good quality, well built, and use latest cree and drivers. Manker and Klaus are very good as well. Lumintop have a good reputation as well. Astrolux is another one to look at.
what a lot of people fail to realise, is not just buying the torch, but the aftercare as well. 5 years no quibble guarantee, like to see the negative people get that on the feit or other cheap torch

Candlepower forum is the most knowledgeable site I use for research.
As for the square LED on the Feit torches, the only time this is really visible is when the the lens is fully focused - when it's fully focused with the 1000 lumen torch I can spot my dog across a field 300 yards away - I've not really found a need to use the full forcus as the light you get with the spread is adaquate for plenty distance for me.

I'm a bit of a torch geek and have two ledlensers and think they're overpriced and mediocre in terms of performance. I've previously posted deals for the Feit torches from Costco which are unbeatable in terms of performance for the price, and my 1000 lumens 3 D cell is still going well and is on its second winter for dog walking. Costco's current offer is a pack of two 750 lumen 3 C cell torches for something like £15.99 plus vat including the 6 batteries. They also have a newer version of the 1000 lumen torch which is now submersible for just over £20.
The following that the ledlenser has on here baffles me, I'm an engineer by trade and appreciate good design, but you're clearly paying a lot for the name and not for the performance.
Yes there are lots of rubbish Far East torches available, but a little bit of research will find the brands and retailers to trust.
The Feit torches are available from other outlets, just a bit more expensive than Costco, here's some on Amazon with prime delivery.
I have a number of Maglite, both models of the Costco FEIT Electric torches and a number of lensers. They're all well engineered, and the Costco torches are good value, though with either 3D or 3C cells are a good bit bigger and heftier than the torch I've posted. Am not keen on the 'square' chip of light shown by the FEIT torches, but maybe that's me. My own choice for EDC is a Lenser M7 on my belt, with a Maglite 4D for night time dogwalking, where its heft is comforting. In twilight the Lenser P14 size is a good choice. I suppose it's all down to personal preference - my own mantra is that it's better to have too many torches than too few when you happen to need one!
Perhaps you could post some of your research on far eastern torches and brands to trust - I won't be alone in wanting to find comparable quality torches for much less money!

24 Nov 161#22
I too use a Maglite 4D with an LED conversion module - great for walking the dog etc. after dark. I have an M7 on my belt for those everyday things where I need more light, looking underneath furniture, in cupboards, under bonnets, inside computers, etc., etc., which the Maglite would be a bit of a faff for!

24 Nov 16#12
Ordered the P7.2 model for around the same price which was supposed to be 320 lumens on boost and like this torch uses the 4 AAA batteries.
Felt let down compared to my 200 lumen Zebralight which runs on 1AA as the Led lender fogs up, is a pain to change the batteries in the dark and doesn't have a significant throw increase despite it's advantageous specks.
Hope this torch is better as it advertises 400 lumens but don't know how any torch that uses this battery format can take itself seriously by calling itself tactical. Do high capacity AAA batteries exist?
Ajibee to john184
24 Nov 16#21
This one is brighter than the P7.2. The M7, the non 'tactical' version of this has a microprocessor controller and is certainly brighter than the P7.2. The 'tactical' bit is simply marketing - it supposedly has a deeper ring round the light end to protect the lens and glass breaking ridges round the button in the tail. HTH.

Sometimes 3camels doesn't catch a price cut if it's only for a short period, a day or less, depends on how often they check prices and whether it hits at the right time or not.

Also, I hope this performs fine/well with rechargeable batteries?
I do wonder if it's better to just get a torch with a rechargeable battery unit.
It seems the P14.2 is discounted also; lowest price for this model too. The T7M seems to be newer though, so still the better buy it would seem.
