Amazon had this same offer last year. Generally speaking you don't get much better unless they are clearing stock for a new model. You never know with Amazon though.

Brilliant reader at a brilliant price. Haven't used readers for a while since gave my old Sony to my mate as couldn't get used to the screen. These high res paperwhites are a huge advancement imo, add quite a useful backlight and you get a very good device.
Works WAY faster than the old ones, got context dictionary, translations can send books on it via email. What not to like?
Oh I guess the thickness of the device (especially with original Amazon flip cover) - why so thick??! Would give it 6 stars out of 5 if they make it half as thick.
P.s. paid around 60 for a used one so this definitely is a hot deal.

Folk who are fans of kindles, check out the yotaphone 2, was a deal up here recently and I got one from CEX. Really awesome e-ink screen, like a mini Kindle in your pocket (no screen glare, nice on the eyeballs), a Shame it is not illuminated like the Paperwhite, but I think it's a great little device for reading on the go (and can read your free newspaper apps, etc, which you can't on kindles).
(I was not really aware of it till I saw the deal here last week, thought it worth passing on).

In order to apply a price reduction on a purchase, the criteria in our pricing policy must be met. I regret that after review the request you have submitted does not match all or parts of this policy.
Therefore, on this occasion I am sorry I cannot match the price offered by Argos. If you would like to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold and our pricing you can do so on our website.

If I remember rightly last year on Black Friday more retailers started to drop the prices of these things and Amazon / retailers started to price match one another. Might be worth just waiting at this point as we're so close to Black Friday.

What is the difference in Kindle models. I'm just thinking it be worth getting one instead using a tablet to read ebooks. Battery would last a lot longer and good for my holiday next year?

I'm debating whether to get this one or splash out on the Voyage or Oasis - having used the Kindle Keyboard for years I'm worried I might miss the page turn buttons on the Paperwhite... Any advice?
ben.harris to Gannet

I'm the same - bought a Kindle Keyboard on pre-order when Amazon first released them in the UK, 6 years ago. Decided a couple of months ago that I wanted to update to a screen which I could read easily in low light, so have been deliberating about which one to get, as I do like the physical buttons.
Initially I though "I'll treat myself and go for the Oasis" as it still has the buttons, but after reading several reviews where owners weren't happy with the evenness of the backlighting (my main reason for upgrading), and the way the charging works (where the cover charges the actual device) didn't seam ideal. I got the impression that it was intended to be used where you separate the kindle from the cover when you want to read it - which isn't something I could see myself doing. I decided that I couldn't justify the cost for something that sounded like it could potentially be problematic.
Then I looked at the Voyage. It's a 2 year old model now, and there's something that grates with me at the idea of paying a premium price for technology which isn't the latest and greatest. I had a play around with one in John lewis and wasn't convinced by the squeezing the edge of the device and haptic feedback thing for page turns. It wasn't anywhere near as nice as the physical buttons on my Kindle Keyboard and felt like it was just trying to introduce technology where it wasn't needed. Also, the only other improvement it offers now, over the latest Kindle Paperwhite is the ambient light sensor for adjusting the backlight - which according to some of the the reviews can be a considerable drain on the battery.
In the end, I've opted for the Paperwhite. It offers 95% of what the Voyage can do, but is pretty much half the price (at the moment). I'm sure I'll get on fine with the touchscreen. It arrives tomorrow, so we'll see! :-)

I have the Paperwhite and my wife (who reads a lot more than me!) has the Voyage. Both are a big step up on the keyboard for 2 reasons:
1. Small enough to fit in my coat pocket
2. Backlight means we can read in bed without disturbing the other half
The voyage is nicer, for sure, but not that much. Worth the difference if you can afford it and will use it for 1h+/day, I'd say, but not otherwise.
As for the page turning, I've found it's natural and I don't miss the buttons much. It's not quite as easy if trying to use the device in just your left hand, as you need to stretch the thumb quite a way over to reach the "next page" zone, but no such problem if using in just the right, or with both hands available. Also not great if using gloves.

JL had the black one at £79.99 but the white one £109.99 so I ordered from Amazon who are doing both colours at £79.99. Hoping I won't miss out by not taking the 2 year warranty as my old Kindle still works fine after 5 years.
Also hope I can take the ads off without any hassle.

Still a fantastic offer, same as Amazon last year on black Friday.
Happy reading!
