Or just use the end of your house key which works great as long as it's not the push in type trolley locks.

And if you time it right after your shopping you might get a sneaky trade for a £1 coin from an unknowing shopper

I cant see supermarkets forking out for the cost of changing all their trolleys immediately, maybe we will just have to use these things from now on? It would make sense from a business point of view anyway.
