Your wrong. The vast majority of people have eyesight at least as good as Superman, and can see the extra pixels on a 32" 4k TV from the tumble dryers in a Curry's superstore.

I remember buying a Toshiba Picture Frame 2 TV in the early 00's weighed close to 90kg with the stand. Even the delivery guy commented on it, said "thieves will carry away your settee before they lift that ba$74rd". " man lift anytime I had to move it.
I just tried to order it from my local curry's still showing as £159.

Not the best make for TVs.
The spec is nothing to write home about.
Warmth given for price nonetheless.
I'll get my coat..

A relative bought one from Curry's sometime ago. The sound and picture quality is very poor, no matter have much you try to adjust it manually. It's the old adage you get what you pay for. Only suitable for a child's bedroom.

I remember my dad paying £600 for a Sony wide-screen 32 inch CRT TV back in the early noughties. It weighed just under 60kg and I remember helping my dad carry it up to our second floor flat. Unfortunately my dad slipped a disk after this and was in physio for months afterwards. Said TV could display 480 lines and had a power draw of almost 200W.
Let's just be thankful for the march of technology, lower prices etc and the fact that we now have the luxury of debating whether a 720p TV with a 32inch screen, weighing a few kilos, probably having a power draw under 50w, and not taking up half the area of our receptions is good value at £120 quid.

To be fair Vestel or UMC build to the price level asked of them, If you were to go to them and specify top end components they would build you a set from the best quality components.
The issue isn't the brand name on the front, its being built to a cost, any makers budget models will have lower grade components inside, even if they are made in house rather than farmed out, there are reports the budget end Panasonics, Philips and Toshiba were Vestel made.

Blaupunkt is another rebadge from UMC(I think) and has Freeview HD which the JVC does not (according to Currys). Tesco are also likely to be more aware of their obligations under the Consumer Act(SoGA replacement). UMC and Vestel are of similar build quality and fail regularly which makes repair tutorials and spares easily available (not that people repair cheap TVs anymore).

Any idea please which would be the better buy, this one or the Blaupunkt below? Looking for a budget replacement for my dying 9-year-old Philips, aware these may not be fantastic but really just need something I can hook up to PC for iPlayer etc. Thoughts would be appreciated
My sister has that set from Tesco, sound is lacking (as they all do) but apart from that, nothing wrong with it. A perfectly capable set

Small TV. 1080p not visible with 20/20 vision unless you're within six feet of the screen.
Lack of Freeview HD is the problem here, not the 768p resolution

Very cold seeing how its a 32" 720p TV. When you have the current deals going around for much better TV's that are also cheaper at the same time.

Its most likely a Vestel inside, they are OK, built to a price and as a spare tv they are fine. We've last years model in the kitchen, no its not a fantastic set, but for being on as I cook, or watching news as we eat its fine..
Speakers could be louder but fitted with a NowTV/Kodi Box / Fire stick it a find as spare TV.

I like the coloured swoosh on the screen. Is it permenant or does it fade away and show the tv shows when you turn it on?

JVC don't manufacture TVs, whether it used to be a decent brand is irrelevant. This might be a fantastic TV though nothing about it suggests reliability is likely.

I got this for £129 a few weeks back. Use it for connecting my pc for indoor cycle training over winter so quite happy with it being just 720.
Its a good piece of kit to be honest and if you want it as a spare / kitchen / kids use imho its well worth the money. Voted hot as I am not expecting anytjing flash for this price and JVC are a decent brand

I think this will replace my mums knackered old 26" Sony very nicely, she only use a Firestick for iPlayer really, plus through work I can get a £100 voucher for £92, knocks a bit more off the price.
