brilliant deal. I managed to get the one earlier.
Looking at the comparison between the 2, there is honestly jack all difference! The size, weight, features are identical. Only thing is that the one I got has bluetooth, built in Freeview tuner and has satelite ports at the back.

8bit = 16.7 million colours per pixel.
10bit = a little over 1 billion colours per pixel.

Runs at 24ms input lag on displayspecification.com. Which for games on the ps4 pro is great.

Freezing. I had to return this tv because when it arrived the screen was actually 39.8 inches on the diagonal. When I went to JL the following week to see the tv in the show room, my measurement returned just 39.6 inches. It seems this model has significant screen uniformity issues. Buyer beware

299 tesco points is nothing. This deal is better, its almost 15 quid off.
But yeah if you really need bluetooth then go with the other one.
For me I dont need bluetooth or freeview, so for me this model is a win cause of the lower price

8 bit = normal dynamic range, what every display has. 10 bit = HDR, can display more shades for each colour. There is no HDR 8 because that's the baseline.

8 bits per pixel = 256 shades of each of Red, Green, and Blue. I guarantee you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between two adjacent shades so 8 or 10bpp is moot.

good deal have the 43inch one from Currys got it less then a month ago for £480 (now £450 fs) would have waited for today if it had not been for my two year old lobbing the controller of my TV
HDR looks good even if its not the full version and the tizen software is good

its not just the 10 bits though. Proper 4k TVs have a much wider dynamic range, better processing and scren picture quality etc.
Most of these 8 bit 4k cheap TV's are just basically TV's which can receive a 4k HDR picture but doesnt display them anyway near the image quality that true 4k HDR offers.
The cheapest proper 4k HDR 10 bit tv from memory is the Sony one which starts at £550 which is only an extra £250 so not bad.
You get what you pay for. Personally if I was buying a 4k TV I would want a proper 4k set and pay the extra

Mis information. There is huge visible difference between 8bit and 10 bit TV's in picture quality. Even worse is some cheap 4k TV's arent even proper 4k and are just pseudo as they use one in every four pixels as a white led.
This is what you get with only 8 bit on 4k when there is lots of a colour like shadows or the sky

Perhaps you were examining two similar, but slightly different TVs. The UE40KU6000 has a slightly different visible screen size (measured diagonally) to the UE40KU6020; John Lewis sells both.

I couldn't get the Ebay one at 7am this morning, wouldn't let me add to basket.
I went for the Tesco one linked earlier in the thread to replace a first generation 720p HDTV (which doesn't even have freeview) from the early 2000's so should be a nice difference.
Had it a couple of months, works very well but only lasts about 4 to 5 hrs before needing a charge.
I have the ue55ku6400 Samsung, I'm assuming that pairing the receiver/adapter will be the same easy process with this TV, though I could be wrong.

Try kicking up a fuss that's what I plan on doing. Bit of a joke to price match on BF when have to do via online form and stuff will inevitably go out of stock. Lay it thick with the whole 'I would have just bought from Tesco but bought from JL for the customer service and the price match'. I've found they can be pretty flexible in the past, especially if you complain.

24 bit colour has been around since the Amiga 500+ days in the 90's! (8 bits or 256 shades each for R, G, B) 32 bit colour had an extra 8 bits for an Alpha channel (transparency).
I suggest, Sir, you ought to get your facts right before posting. :wink:

Well I sent them an email with screenshots that I took when the item was available and in stock. I explained why I opted for John Lewis over Tesco. If price match can not be given then cancel my order immediately. John Lewis should take down the price promise, Never Knowingly Undersold is misleading and false advertisement. Might have to contact appropriate regulator/s.
