what happens if you cancel the bt broadband half way through your contract, will it go up to £17 a month

With Bt you can end the contract early and pay (inc 5 discount) your current monthly x remaining months less vat

Does anyone know what happens to the discount if you leave BT broadband please as whilst with them at the moment I'm unlikely to stay there for 2 years?

don't rely on the cashback through TCB or Quidco either. it seems that lots of people are having problems with the cashback tracking then having it refused.

I will second the Quidco and voucher claims. I haven't received my vouchers yet and my Quidco was declined yesterday from a deal I saw here.

BT chat tell me that these will be 'locked' to BT and you cannot pay to unlock them. Anyone know where best to get them unlocked to take a Tesco SIM please? Ta

I've claimed £40 Amazon vouchers before - the main catch is that you have to remember to claim after the designated period via a website/page that you may not be able to find a link to, and if you do it won't have any mention of the deal you're claiming against and have to enter including lots of account/order numbers. It should be fine if you do that. So take a note of the pages etc, get screen shots as you go, keep all the order emails etc and set a reminder on your (new!) phone to chase.

I spoke with BT Chat and they say iPhones are locked to BT for 6 months and then you can ask for them to be unlocked. Don't know how much they charge for that.
Presumably when they say locked to BT, EE sims will also work??

All BT mobiles are sent unlocked, except for iPhone 6 and above, they're locked for the first 6 months.

Almost new iPhone 5s seems to be around 140, so I fly imagine new close to 200. So you'd technically pay less buying outright, but you'd have to pay all upfront.

Yes, so long as the bank account is in your name, create a new BT account and it will ask during the order if you live in a BT broadband house, tick yes and enter the phone number, the BB discount of £5 will still be applied

£70 Quidco tracked for me personally. Last year BT paid out £180 when I signed up to broadband, so hopefully they'll honour this, too. I expected it say BT Mobile on the tracking - that's the link I clicked - but it says Broadband for some reason. We'll see how it goes.

Anyone got any idea how I could purchase online in my husbands name rather than mine? I've added his name to the bt account but every time I try to purchase it automatically wants to credit check my name rather than his and then fails (I have a good history but too many recent checks on file

Legally you can't, taking out credit in someone elses name is fraud, even when done with good intentions.

I ordered a new sim free one from Giff Gaff for £199, then ordered the 3Gb/500min 12 month sim from BT for £8 a month with £40 amazon and £58 TCB.
So £8 x 12 = £96 - £98 (£40 and £58) means BT are paying me £2 over 12 months
£199 (phone) - £2 (sim) / 12 months is effectivly £16.42 a month which i dont think you can beat for a iPhone 5S with a 12 month contract with 3Gb.
If I managed to get a similar sim deal in 12 months then this means it would only be £8.13 a month for a 24 month period.

I guess you need the 3gb data in the deal, I was nearly going for the £8 sim, then I saw this deal - £12*24=£288 for the 2 years at £12 - Minus £150 Amazon voucher and £78 Topcashback = £60 for the 2 years thats £30 per year or £2.50 per month for the minutes and the iphone on top of that for free! If you sold the iphone you would be £160+ profiit for 2 years free minutes/data. I got one for my wife and one for myself.

I'm in the same boat - check the emails and I think it says that the SIM is activated already (they're taking the money after all) so I'm working on the basis that I don't need to do anything with the SIM and should be able to claim next week. Hopefully.

I assume you have to wait 2 weeks before making a claim because that is also the return period. It prevents people from buying the phone, making a claim and then returning the phone afterwards.

Makes sense, plus I think they bank on people forgetting to claim. One I did before was 3 months!

Yip got top cash back and amazon vouchers but had to use online form on bt site to say vouchers had not turned up after the maximum allowed time(can't remember how long it was, think it was 30 or 45 days that you allow)They came a few days later.

Hi. I just checked. I filled in the claim form on 3rd December and they arrived on 5th January so you could get a rough arrival date from that. And no, I didn't get any email apart from the "Thanks for claiming your voucher" one straight after filling in the form.

I waited 2 weeks from the delivery date (28-11) to claim so sent the claim on 12-12. I sent the chaser form when I posted the comments in post #103 the evening before the cards arrived so the chaser was unnecessary in my case. Hope everyone gets theirs soon.

One last thing - when submitting the claim a post in this thread said to use the VOL number whereas the form itself shows a prefix of the actual order number. I'm sure both are fine and would lead to the same order/result, but wondered what others had used.

I used my BT order number for the claim on 12-12 starting with BTCZZE0ZZ0400 I dont know any VOL numbers.

I remember using the vol number for a the first claim I made but couldn't seem to find it for my most recent claim but both ways worked.

Yeah, the VOL number was pretty well-hidden within your online account. I used the order number on my confirmation email too, but came across the VOL number when checking my bill etc.

Anyway, 30 days had passed, so I sent an email inquiring about the status of my claim and received this reply:


Fair enough. I replied asking why it would take another 3 weeks if my claim is being processed and all that really needs to be done is to generate the cards and post them etc.

I got the exact same reply from someone else! At least copy and paste a different message. Sheesh. Lol. Welcome to 'customer service'.
