Are these any better than the Cloud 1's for PS4 gaming , I understand the fantastic 7.1sound wont be available whilst using with the PS4 so if that's all they are going to be used for , is this headset a bit of a wasted investment ?
I have ordered the Cloud 1's from a deal posted on here for £40 from Amazon, don't know whether to keep with those or re-order these , any advise anyone .... ?

I'd save the money, unless you plan on using these on a PC at some point you won't notice any difference.

do these have mic monitoring like Turtle Beach ones do?
rizwan_qureshi to paulj48

no, I bought them last year and returned them for this very reason. Once you get a headset with mic monitoring you won't ever be able to return to ones that don't.

Damn it, earlier today I bought the gunmetal grey model at £59.99, whereas I really wanted the red pair! Just cancelled my order to get a pair of these instead, whereupon I have to now pay return postage. Oh well, you don't win them all.
Heat added, even though you've come up with a better deal than mine! :-)

I think this is a really great headset for the price. It was a huge improvement going from my old Turtle Beach X12s to this. Very happy with it.

I got these 10 days ago from amazon, but the microphone makes me sound nasal, like i have a cold or holding my nose. I contacted kingston about it, they sent me a replacement microphone attachment, but it has the same problem. Has anyone else who has these had similar issue with them? and were you able to fix it somehow? Think i'll have to return them soon unfortunately. Seems quite a few people have had their cloud IIs break within a year and sometimes within just a few weeks.. wish i hadn't bothered with them. :disappointed:
They are comfortable though, and the sound is good.. just a shame that i cant use it for voice comms cus it makes me sound ridiculous.

QUICK QUESTION: Currently have Logitech G933, but have been wanted the HyperX Cloud II's for quite a while. Are they better than the G933's I currently have?

I really like the look of these. Only downside seems to be that the cord doesn't disconnect. Are there any decent alternatives to this in this price range or do you think this is the best option for ps4 and pc gaming?

These are amazing, can't recommend them enough.
I've been using them for ages, the mic is great and the sound quality is awesome.
From memory, you will need an adaptor so that you have a 3.5mm output on your controller. Still, as others have commented these are excellent headphones and your son won't be disappointed with them I am sure. My teenage son has had a number of sets over the years and these are his favourites, which is why I have just purchased a second set for him - to be kept at his 'other' home.
Can't comment on the other side and so you would have to take a leap of faith with those.

Not if you have one of the latest controllers all have a 3.5mm port built in now they don't make the adapters anymore

There were some reported issues regarding poor microphone output when used on a PC as you can't use windows sound settings to boost the output of the mike, Kingston released a firmware fix for the USB sound card but it then looses the button press beeps

They plug into the controller like most headsets

The USB control cable is only used for the PC. For the console, you just have the basic headphones with a 3.5mm jack. If you use an adaptor, that will have audio controls on it.

I've had these for a year now, bought them for the ps4.
To answer people's questions, no the 7.1 doesn't work on the ps4, and the volume control is on the 7.1 unit, so to adjust game/chat volume u need to use the ps4 menus. The sound will still all work when u use the usb cable, it's just anything on the 7.1 control won't. I prefer to remove the Ian part and plug them straight into my pad with the shorter cable.
That being said, these are sooo comfy, even with glasses u can wear them for hours, the sound is amazing, the mic is decent, and I would buy them again in a heartbeat if I needed another pair.
