Not 1080, no optical drive, 4gb ram, i3 not i5 and even then it's a gen5 version... we're currently on 7. You can get a lot more for an extra £100 or so if you look around.
Not a lot going for this one for me!

Still in the market for a laptop, so sad I missed the John Lewis deal from earlier. 8GB RAM, Windows 10, i3 CPU, SSD (whatever size) for £250ish and I'll pull the trigger.

Yeah, I saw that later on. And THAT deal was a corker too. The thing that clinched it for me was that it is possible to upgrade the drive to an SSD, but not the CPU from 5005u to 6100u. The CPU appears to benchmark about 30% faster and the GPU about 50% faster, if you compare the rough PassMark figures, which I concede isn't the whole truth.
But I wouldn't knock anyone for getting either of the HP machines, because they're good value for money - and I'd consider them for myself certainly.

I considered this today for my son's Christmas, but the lack of full HD (he uses lots of music software with tons of windows open, so more pixels is good in that particular case), and the 5005u made me choose the Lenovo 510 over this one. This one will definitely feel way faster than the Lenovo, because of the SSD, but I will upgrade the SSD.
This is still a cracking deal though, and worthy of heat.

Check out link in comment #2 for full HD. Only another £7, but no option for extended warranty.
This was my backup buy if nothing else came up yesterday. For sale around that price at a few retailers. Interesting to see what anyone had to say about it...
That's a good deal as it has Full HD. Can't see anything on their website, but do you know if a 3yr warranty can be added?. SaveOnLaptops do one for £49 which I didn't think was too bad. It's for the in-laws and I don't want to be tech support :-)

Like the Full HD screen, but only 128GB SSD is a deal breaker.
