Well my Blue H8 arrived yesterday.

First impressions:

- Beautifully made, the glass back is as stunning as is talked about
- It really is super slippy; I bought one of the official PC cases and it is not making any difference
- The fingerprint sensor is blazingly fast
- Screen is lovely (in comparison to my Nexus 4) and the phone does zip along without any issues
- It is taking me a little while to get used to the EMUI, but there are some nice touches (still prefer stock android) that make it interesting
- Battery life is nagging a little. It had about 50% charge and while it was used heavily all evening I was noticing the percentage drop quicker than I had expected. Need to get my head around the battery manager.
- I've uninstalled or disabled most of the 3rd party apps. Once I am 100% happy with the phone I'll follow more of the Paul O'Brien 'how to' guide: http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/377633-guide-how-to-make-your-honor-8-more-like-stock-android/

Mine dispatched today - black and blue as well as the tpu cases.

My status has changed from part shippable to ready to ship. Guy said it'll be dispatched tomorrow at the very latest.

I got a s7 edge and this and the results are quite similar to this video in comparison to the camera. I personally think takes great pictures at this price range the only weakness is poor video. But for still at this price you won't find a better camera.

I saw reviews saying it is good too. To be fair in decent light it's great. Nova Launcher is free but premium version us £3.99

​I'm using Nova Launcher £4 which transforms the phone. There are others I haven't tried. I wish you could delete some if the manufacturers apps. The EMUI skin is a bit crappy.

​I think I've been in the website and it didn't seem to mention anything about the second delivery. Glad to hear the phone is living up to expectations. What launcher did you use? Wasn't a fan of the standard set up?

​If you login to vmall website you can view your order and then track the delivery. The order should be despatched in two shipments. The phone will be UKMail and case DHL. I was sceptical about this phone but it's astonishing value after all the bloat is removed and better launcher installed. Hated iOS 10 new unlock which is why I came to Android.

iOS is better for those who just was a nice phone to use out the box but Android is far superior if you can be bothered to spend a lot of time getting it setup how you want. I've spent hours tweaking notifications etc...

Got the case. Much better now.. Makes the fancy back a bit pointless though. Doesn't worry me.

With marginally better performance and a lower price, the Honor 8 should probably be a no-brainer when compared to the Huawei P9. For the most part, it does have the edge in all areas but the camera. While the EMUI skin continues to grate, the Honor 8 is a good all-round phone for its price.

I put my mate onto a 17 month contract from 3 who have exclusive high street on the honor range when they did first 3 months free though that was good for the contract although there werent many mins data. Personally though I have ran speed tests on my mast with this cat 6 LTE phone against my cat 4 m4 aqua and its the same. Even when my mast goes advanced LTE im trading my sisters oneplus one and 30 quid for an a grade p9 lite with 3gb ram at cex. 4gb ram is overkill top phones are too good for me. All i need is full motion video and phones surpassed that ages ago. Good for a gamer i suppose.

Not everything is released, some in just parts. They don't use "standard" ways of doing some simple things, and if they don't release source code for these things, it needs to be "hacked" to work. A lot of effort.

Don't get me wrong, the specs are great, the phone is solid and it's a good buy. But the above really just puts me off Huawei as a whole, it's an entirely personal thing.

Community developer support won't ever really flourish because Kirin SoC the source code(s) are a mess, and hard to work with.
For the average user it doesn't matter, but some like to install custom firmware.

Brilliant phone. Hardware is fantastic, the current EMUI launcher is not great. However, I'm on the beta for the next version (EMUI 5, with Android N/7.0) and it is vastly improved.
Anyway, if you don't like it, you can stick another launcher on it (Action Launcher is a personal fave)

They'll give me £115 trade in for my good as new condition H7! GREAT phone by the way, with a new launcher, Apex I use. Don't see why it should be different with the H8

The p9 has a newer processor however less ram. For the money, unless you can get a great deal on the P9, I think this is definitely worth it. Gone for it myself, upgrading from the 7. This is cheaper than the P9, better in some aspects and not so much in others. IMO, this looks better than the P9. I would however choose either over the G5 just based on how ugly it is.
