Go NVR and IP cameras... a bit harder to set up, but much better pictures, most of my stuff is Chinese, using cat6 cables with cheap power injectors (as opposed to POE), works well for a budget system, plan how many cameras you need, 1-4 cams 4ch NVR... 1-8 8Ch, then you can always add cameras later... Chinese ip cams tend to be a gamble as sometimes the difference between 720p 960p and 1080p is hardly any different... using one Chinese 720p wifi camera and it's better than a 1080p wired!

If you want a decent system, with proper image quality I'd recommend something like this.
4mp PoE IP cameras, decent brand, good software.
Yes It's more money than the above and doesn't include the hard drive but the image quality will be massively better than that posted.
Just grab some Cat5/6 cable and an old hard drive and your away.
Hi guys, I'm looking for something weatherproof with night vision, good quality, I'm looking for a full package, can anyone recommend something that is reasonably priced. I'm confused by the mixed reviews of this, so I'm after something for my house, but also something I can watch from my smartphone as well. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I gave up trying to find something that looked good, had decent specs, wasn't a huge security risk if opening firewall ports. Closest was the £219 Arlo - loved the idea of wireless battery powered cameras, but seemed expensive for what you got.
Now have a pi, camera and will be setting up Motion on it when I get round to it.

It's on a par with a plumber fitting a radiator with plastic straws and a cardboard box, you will still get some hot water through the system and the box will hold water....for a while

Got my brand new sealed Annke 720p set with 2 cams for £55 ish from ebay and a used hard drive from ebay as well for £25.. ended returning it coz it wasnt clear enough.. so i'd recommend spending a some more for a 1080p set.. and preferably POE system, saves so much hassel for the cable running

Am I right in thinking that 1tb worth of continued recording then after the hard drive is full, this will automatically start recording over.
Please if someone can answer
Just generally
When a system says 1tb what does it mean?
Or after one tb need a new hard drive?
Can't be
So just records over? Or would I have to delete first?
Thanks
