Great little gadget for the kids and big kids alike. Build your own Haynes combustion engine with illuminating spark plugs and ignition sound.
You get a stand with it so when you've built it you can proudly display your work.
Needs 2 x aa batteries which you don't get with it but everything else is included in the box. Nice big box and easy to wrap!

Built this with my son a couple of years back and was very disappointed on how poorly it went together, had to modify parts to make them fit/move freely, the end result was the engine didn't move as it should and the motor then failed.
Just hope they have improved the quality of the kit over the last couple of years.

If you have trouble with the pistons sticking on this when they move, then just put a little bit of cooking oil around them and they will work a lot easier.
I had to use a small modelling file to remove some of the burrs, but after that it went together quite well and the lubrication to the pistons kept the firing order in sync.

Seriously, complaints about a £20 engine, if it worked great for that much cars would be £100 new  surely everybody should get used to the idea from day 1 that engines always go wrong

Same here, it doesn't run freely enough to move in any kind of decent motion... And it's loud!
Quite interesting but a pain in the **** to get the LEDs "firing" at the correct moment.
Interesting enough for £20 but not worth the RRP. (Not voting either way)

The one we built had light up plugs and sound.
Maybe it was less than 2 years ago.
