you don't need am Xbox to get a live account, create one online, enter the game code, then when you get an Xbox sign in with your account and it'll be there waiting.

Always had issues with this both multiplayer and singleplayer. The state they released it in was unacceptable. They've abandoned fixing this game beyond a couple of patches. Although at this price it's probably less of sting.

Awful game franchise, never did see the attraction!
Single player storylines were nothing short of dreadful, the main avatar master chief had less charisma and charm than Andy Murray, and the multiplayer involved players bouncing around like kangaroos!
And i still nearly just bought this....
