Cold. I bought my 10 year old son the Mercedes SLS car in the summer. Within a week, I caught him trying to sell some of my mint plants out of my garden to the neighbour's toddler next door and blaring out Alexander O' Neals 'Criticise' from my phone rested on the front seat.

For those not in the know, it has a lifetime guarantee. If anything breaks, just take it to Halfords (no receipt needed) and they will replace it for you.
Been tempted to buy that set many times before, think im caving this time!

Wouldn't get the 6V version as its awful on grass and limited traction on tarmac - you can convert it to 12V but it costs as much to buy the 12V version elsewhere

They've just put the Sonichi DAB radio up £10 to £59 so wouldn't be surprised for it to be reduced by, off the top of my head, £10 ?

Cheers bud, thats good for bikes only, was after the 200 piece socket set, looks like the code I needed expired a couple of days back.

Does anyone know if the mercedes would be suitable for an 8 year old or would it be too small?

24 Nov 16#24
I have seen pictures of toddlers standing beside the car. They would indicate that it may be unsuitable for an 8 year old, but I don't know for sure - not saw one in person. Google the item and look at the images to get an idea. I was thinking for a bit whether my 3 year old (just 3 a week ago) would grow out of it quickly.

I have been trying to get the Carrera Hellcat and spoke to Halfords live chat this morning, they said IT were working on a known fault. I went in store and picked up a boxed one, silver, 18" for £249, that was the last 18" in West Quay Southampton. Very frustrating not being able to order online though. Good luck.

Check your mercs folk for those who bought them. I had a wrong part in mine. Suppose to have one drive wheel and 3 others (drive wheel different to the other 3 to fit into the gear box) I had 4 ordinary wheels and no drive wheel. No good with this

Nice find OP. Be wary of the nextbase dashcam as the rechargeable battery goes in them quite quickly and when they do they stop recording, which makes them useless. It's not a simple change either, mine has just gone after a year or so have a new battery ordered off ebay and the screwdrivers ready! Wished I known you need to open it up before I paid what I did! Good video though even at night, shame nextbase dont sort the battery issues out.
I think I'll give it a miss then in that case. Any recommendations for a good alternative dashcam?
frakison to ribs1
28 Nov 16#46
Surely the battery "going" would only stop it working from battery i.e. it would be fine if plugged in.... which lets face it, is the only way to go as even GoPro's only tend to last a couple of hours tops?!?!
Can you confirm what you mean as people like dirtyade could be put off from buying a camera that just has the same issue as ALL cameras (i.e. limited use from battery power).

Saw the Transcend Pro 200 there for £69. £7 for the suction mount. Looks good. Video footage clear too.

28 Nov 16#47
See above, unless I'm mistaken (happy to be corrected), you wont get a dashcam that has a long battery life, you'll be lucky to get an hour from most units which is why 99% of people will use the 12v power socket or hard wire it in
These cams are well reviewed and get decent feedback, none so far have mentioned a battery problem other than the short (expected) recording time. There are plenty of other options, but I personally want it to protect me in the event of a non-fault accident, I therefore want reliability hence I strayed away from the cheap GoPro knockoffs. Similarly I found it hard to justify a £300 top of the range, which this beat in reviews anyway! Each to their own though

No mate when it's plugged into the 12v the rechargable battery fails when the ignition is turned off and the camera will not save the last file properly. If you look at the last file for each journey you've made with the cam it's either not there or a damaged file is saved. Not saving the last file properly is fundamental as the last file will be the one in progress when you're in an accident! Pretty shoddy design by nextbase I thought especially as their cameras are not cheap. There's plenty on the net about it if you know to look, I didnt see it. Oh well! lesson learned! Just thought I'd mention it for other people to make an informed decision.

Thanks for an informative and non flaming response, it's not the usual case!!
That sounds pretty crap and I can see your point, I'll do some more digging, having just bought the 412gw I'm keen to make sure it's fit for purpose before I unseal everything

28 Nov 16#50
Reading on few forums, it seems like a dodgy run of batteries:
Cameras with serial numbers higher than 1525xxx are apparently fitted with a new battery and its protection IC which overcomes the problem. Today NextBase provided me with a new camera, so I have no complaints.
So fingers crossed that the newer 412gw will be sorted? If you see anything to the contrary, I'd appreciate a heads up, but I think I'll keep an eye on it from month10 onward to see if it's showing signs of issue, if so, I'll take it back for refund/replace.

No worries, happy to help, I have just called nextbase technical support who have no recall in place for the cameras but have offered to send me out a new "improved" battery for free with instuctions for fitting it!

29 Nov 16#52
That's brill news, although a big tight, you'd think that they'd offer to replace given that they know the battery is faulty? at the very least you'd expect them to offer to fit it for you!! Can you post back with how easy it was to do, the pictures look a bit horrifying with the GPS out etc, it would be good to know for future reference if mine dies
