Starting today, the chilled Christmas party/buffet food instore at Marks and Spencer is half price, unsure how long the offer is on but I would assume one week. It also included pigs in blankets.

Included:

18 Indian-style snack selection

12 Italian mozzarella mini bites with dip

12 Brie and cranberry tartlets

12 filled vol au vents

10 mini buckets of southern-fried chicken and fries

have to say their party food is disappointing in terms of quality for the price. I guess that at half price its about the right price1

I used to work for a company that supplied party food to M&S (It was better quality then ; but i would say that) and the production process is so difficult so in order to get the volumes required most of it is produced in the summer, frozen and then defrosted in a controlled environment to be sold as fresh. The funny thing was that it was never economic for the supplier , the staff were extremely busy from November to Christmas Eve and then paid off, but the company never made any money and don't do it anymore. But we did have enough garlic bites and vol-au-vents to last the rest of the year.

It always strikes me as being a little odd that people are happy to pay a premium for chilled foods and then stick them in a freezer, when the frozen equivalents are usually much cheaper.:man:

I only purchased the following : Belly slice squares £ 3.50, Breaded prawns £ 2.50 and hot & spicy chicken breast chunks with a smokey chipotle dipping sauce for £ 2.50. Not that many to choose from in Devizes M&S but most seemed to be £ 5.00 when full price like quiche squares etc. Although the store did not have any of the higher end party stuff apart from the belly slices and Hog roast on crackling plates, this range tends to be £6-8 per pack before reductions/offers. Hope that helps.

£2.50 minimum is not a bargain for party food. Breaded prawns, hot and spicy chicken and mozzarella bites are easy to make.

thankyou. I got quite a bit 6 different things half of half price on todays date! they seem to be selling alot off. £1 each for most things. go in the freezer today and fine for defrosting. fort kinnard edinburgh store.

For the comments I'm reading I believe there is no option to order instore now at half price for collection during Christmas period as you can do online at full price obviously...

click on "Get deal" just goes to M+S website, looked at buffet/party/xmas food, no discounts or half price, what am i doing wrong ?

Why is an offer with absolutely no pricing available allowed on the site? "Half price" means literally nothing without any reference pricing.

Thanks for posting, I was expecting like last year for the M&S party food to go half price on Black Friday.

We love the mini pies, best make room in the freezer as we buy our party food from M&S this is a big saving.

They are chilled, not frozen. There was also bacon wrapped cheese that look very similar, be careful to pick up the correct one.

Oops ignore that when I getting ice for my drink last night I noticed they were the cheese and bacon one I'd got, never mind I'm sure they'll be nice I'll just have to go back and get the pigs in blankets.

We had the duck spring rolls last night and they were lovely :smile:

Yes , they had plenty of cheese and bacon. We got 3 packs of those. They said that they were not sure if they would be getting another delivery in before the offer ends and to ring the store to check prior to a special visit :wink:

Just popped into my local simply food and the offer is now 3 for 2 which is still a good offer, last year I put off getting the 3 for 2 and then found it had changed to 4 for 3 so was disappointed.

Popped in my local m&s yesterday, hardly anything left but at least got a few packs of the pork belly to freeze which is our favourite. Also got some yellow sticker cracker shape sausage rolls £4 to 40p!
