You're not paying £2 to have it reserved - you're paying £2 for it to be sent from the distribution centre in Milton Keynes. Call them if you want to have one reserved at your local store. There's no charge for doing so.

I believe the 4k version comes with Ethernet equipped version of the PSU. That's £15, so may be worth factoring that in if its important to you.
But yes if you don't need 4k, probably best to grab this. Even if you do need 4K later there's a good chance the 4K version will end up on offer sooner rather then later (given the offer history of the other chrome casts), so you could likely end up with both for the current price of a 4k alone.

All my devices are 4k so only 4k makes sense for me. Also history repeats itself. Last year Google got rid of the old 2014 chromecast at Christmas time. Same thing will happen this year I guess. As soon of the old 2015 stock chromecast is finished, the new 2016 chromecast will go go down in price. So no need buying 2015 chromecast unless a stocking filler . The reason it is for deep discount like 1080p TVs are these days because all the traders want to get rid of old stock .

Available elsewhere at same price. And before people start with the "this has a 2 year warranty" remember the Sale of Goods act, and the fact that if these are faulty you'll soon know about it within the first year. Otherwise it'll go on for years...

As mentioned, £18 from curry's and 15p off that if you use Quidco. Ordered yesterday, got it today. If these things break, it will be within the first few months (have a previous one and no issues after 2 years).
Also there is limited 4k media still, heck even 2k media is limited. Besides, 4k only looks really good close up. The further you are away the difference between 1080p and 4k becomes minimal. Don't get me wrong, if you have a large 4k display and enough media then get the chromecast ultra, but for me and many people this version will be more than enough.
