Might purchased the wife one of these, but is there a lot of difference to GHD IV and the GHD V gold?

These are Mk IV so pretty awesome but the original GHD team now design Cloud 9

Corioliss is a good contender though it's also similarly priced. And as Juliet mentioned, the Cloud Nine is reputed to be good

Tried a few different units and all poor. I won't bore you with specifics but it's just to be avoided. Stick to the original ghd in my opinion I be of the best ghds ever made.

As @CharlesCalthrop stated... Corioliss, they where the brand who developed and manufactured the original series of GHD's (as you can see the C1 is exactly the same as the original GHD's just with a different sticker and half the price) Corioliss are now on the C3 model.
The new GHDs 'designers' pulled out on Corioliss and went with their own brand cloud9 which is awful and the GHD brand has plummeted as they also moved away from Corioliss. Basically in short just stick with Corioliss and you can't go wrong.

The original GHD's used to be one of the best (if not the best) on the market ime.
The originator of GHD is now the man behind Cloud9 after they went their separate ways.
Babyliss make some great hair irons but are not designed for major use and wouldn't be good enough for a busy salon environment. However, they should give you around 12 months of decent usage if your hair is not too thick or frizzy. Babyliss tend to become faulty and the plates don't heat up properly with continued use around a year or so.
I can't fault the original & wide plate irons by cloud9, they work like a charm. However, having tested a few sets of the cloud9 touch range, i was incredibly disappointed. Lots of failings and faults. There were some teething problems with the touch which I believe has now been rectified but I haven't tested them since.
All in all, it depends what usage you want from them and what your hair is like. Just remember to ALWAYS use a heat protector spray when using irons or you will damage your hair :-) x

Are these good for curling too? The curling models I mean, not the straighteners, I'm after a pair and no sure which to get - not salon use, domestic only.

I never buy a deal based on the price after cash back, I always go off the purchase price and if the cash back tracks it's a bonus!

Without cashback this wasn't a particularly good deal.

After cash back, could potentially cost you £60.44
I have not seen a pair of GHD's for around £60 in a long time!
