Lots and lots of people always say there are never school holiday bargains, well here's to prove that you can get away as a family on a budget, 9 nights flights, accommodation and transfers in Grand Canaria for under £150pp!
Flights are with Iberia. This price only includes hand luggage but there is no weight limit as long as you stick to the size measurements 56*45*25. Flights also have a short stop in Madrid but it's a quick plane change, no more of an inconvenience than Ryanair or Easyjet and Iberia are more comfortable.
Hotel wise, this is a budget deal so I've gone for the Bungalows Vista Oasis. Basic but walking distance to shops and there is a nearby waterpark, ideal for the kids. Transfers need to be booked via hoppa.com
Breakdown
Book flights with Budget air £352.18
Book hotel via Alpharooms £202.45
Book shuttle via Hoppa.com use code VB21 £23.01
TOTAL £577.64/£144.41pp

I agree that the majority of people would prefer to fly direct. I'm just throwing this out there as a budget option as some families may not be able to afford the extra price difference, which in August could be hundreds of pounds for direct flights for a family of 4.

Each to their own, two people have messaged me who have booked this so I guess it's weighing up inconvenience versus cost. For some people they prefer to pay extra to fly direct others would rather use the money they saved towards another holiday. I'm just showing budget school holiday deals do exist with some compromises.

I wouldn't say I have more money than sense as if I didn't have the money to fly direct I wouldn't fly at all, I would holiday with my children in the UK because almost doubling the flight time is ridiculous in my opinion. as far as stupid posts go yours is definitely up there with the best of them! so thanks I will crack on whilst you keep being pathetic

Just back from Hong Kong that was 11 hour flight from Manchester , that was bad enough , but 7 hours just to get to Spain is a joke

£25 extra for baggage

No, luggage will be straight to your destination as it's one ticket, not booked individually. You can pay for additional luggage costs when you check in online or once you have your flights enter the booking code over on Iberia Express and you should be able to add/pay for baggage in advance.
Or just take hand luggage. No weight restrictions as long as you don't exceed the size.

Would you have to retrieve your bags at Madrid and then check in again it is it straight through? Also odd that the child flights prices are higher than for adults (taxes showing as higher when in fact they should be £13pp less) but overall it's a great deal. Accommodation should be OK too.

Yep, multiple times. Go through TopCashback for extra back too. Once you have your flight confirmation you should be able to enter the booking reference onto the Iberia website and find the flight. You can book direct with Iberia for a little more.

probably about a grand more but a four hour flight is more than enough when travelling with small children. I would rather book a package deal and pay in installments throughout the year
