Just got my one, thank you! I've traded my original X1 in (kept the Kinect) at Game and got the X1 S on Black Friday. However, I forgot to save the console's serial number. Could not order the adaptor using their tool (also never registered my console on Microsoft's website, just do it!) but the support via chat helped me out. Basically, the serial number on my Kinect was linked to the console's serial number (I bought a bundle with Titanfall 1 back in 2014). Too many cables but it works fine, if you really need it.

I got mine, after going on the chat and then registering my xbox ones (day one edition) with kinect and then my new Xbox one S. It came after a week and a bit I think in a battered official looking xbox one Kinect adapter box.

It is bulky and looks horrible if I am honest but I will keep it if I even want to buy Kinect again

Something that hasn't been mentioned is that this same connection kit also allows you to use the Kinect hooked up to a Windows 10 PC. So, useful if you have any curiosity to develop software that could use the sensors. Notice that the recent Microsoft 3D Builder app for Windows 10 can use the Kinect to perform 3D scans of objects for 3D printing. You can even send designs off to be made by mailorder 3D printing services from inside the app apparently. Pretty neat.

Just got mine, they must have dropped it off in the shed when nobody was at home but left no card. From the dampness of the envelope i would say its been there a few days. The packaging was a bit of a mess to be honest, expect more from M$ even if its free

Updated- i sold one of my serial number, yes you can add the serial number to your account and new one S serial plus kinect then you can place order.

Best thing is go to MS contact us page on xbox site chat with them asking for help to get an adapter rest they will do. This is best coz some kinects serial numbers are not accepting.

Did it last week before Black Friday and got one ordered, it was the fastest and most efficient process I've ever seen.

I had my old one + kinect registered so already ordered it but not really need it (it's my first time and I feel awful).

I'm getting an Xbox One S for my son for Christmas having just sold his Xbox 360 and Kinect and it seems a real rip off to charge £29.99 for the adaptor on top of the cost of an Xbox One Kinect sensor, especially when it appears that there are hardly any Kinect games for the Xbox One available!

You need an original xbox one to be entitled for the free adapter. My issue here too as I also want the kinect but not willing to pay 50 for an adapter.

Just a reminder - it takes up to 28 days for your adaptor to arrive. Mine came in around 14 days when I got an Xbox One S. Make sure you register your kinect, old xbox and new xbox one s on your online account as well.

The adapter is pretty cumbersome, loads of cables and a power adaptor too. Wish they'd just kept the kinect port on the xbox!

My "free"adaptor arrived today.Same as the chaps on youtube doing the un-boxing, except no box, everything stuffed into a jiffy bag and a mountain of cables including a mains power cable that is now required.Total mess.I only got the kinect as £20 CEX deal posted here and i heard it was good with Battlefield 4 but cannot get it working at all despite enabling it in the options screen.

The funny thing is the Kinect 2 on the xbox one does actually work, and work well, but MS really did mess up the xbox one launch with gamers and poisoning the kinect II well forever before the tech even got into gamers hands.

I actually enjoyed Kinect on the 360. Although I have Kinect for Xbox one. I didn't give it a go.

It's fun to play with family. But I guess most people play Xbox on their bedroom so no space.

Angry Joe done an EPIC interview with then and current Xbox hypeman Major Nelson Larry Hryb.
To be fair Major Nelson was only defending the product and his company, but he was an arrogant sod in the interview, telling Joe "are you on the development team, is it just as easy to flick a switch to make it backwards compat, and play preowned games".
Two weeks later Microsoft backtracked and "flicked that switch"!
They originally said the Xbox One would NEED Kinect to work, Don Matrick at the time was SOOOOOO far off target with Xbox gamers, they shoveled the Kinext down peoples throat's time after time they gamers said they didnt want it.
Fast forward to 2016, E3 in June did not have ONE single mention of Kinect, and the current slim does not even have the port to use what was once sought as THE killer app for controlling the Xbox one.
Again they have listened and with Phil Spencer at the helm now, things seem to be moving in the right direction.
But it's good to remember people power does work!!

I still find it hilarious that Microsoft basically bet the farm on kinect since it first appeared. And lost. This machine was originally built and designed specifically for it, and now the new ones don't even have a port for it :grin:

I'll give them one thing though, they saw the mistakes and fixed it fairly quickly, otherwise it would have tanked even worse.

it's quite a bulky bit of kit, and now comes with a plug for power. But great for free, and the be able to use your Kinect.

Make sure you have registered your old Xbox one, and then your new Xbox one on the Xbox website to make it even faster, they need both serial numbers from each console for them to supply this free. You'll also need your Kinect serial.

If you are new to Xbox one and bought the current model, Microsoft will send you the cables for £29.99. You'd think it would be way cheaper to buy these cables from any other retailer but it quite the opposite

I did this a couple of months ago, you need to link both the serial numbers of your old xbox and the new one to your Microsoft account, wait until both show in your devices. I then contacted them through chat, they checked I had registed them and then got my details and sent it out. It doesn't come with retail packaging it comes in a throwaway foam plastic sleave. (incase you plan to sell)

You need to have owned a previous xbox one console and to have that consoles serial number
