So Virgin Media launched new phone packages back in the summer - basically the same as the old ones but with calls to mobiles included in your free call allowance. So, if you get free evening and weekend calls at present you can now get free mobile calls that that time.
The packages are called "talk more" and you can just call them to switch at no cost.
Pretty useful considering the constant way above-inflation price rises we keep seeing.
Apparently the free calls to mobile excludes calls to Lyca mobile.

That's £5 more than the base package of talk weekends. If your'e already on talk eveing nnd weekends then you get the new talkmore version for free if you call.

Virgins new plans/pricing are weird.
We called them to cancel our tv boxes and keep the broadband and phone, since we're sick of the slow TiVo boxes and are going to sky. They wanted £300 early termination fees, but said they had a bundle with 200mb broadband, evening calls and a "play" TV box which they could do for £23 a month, and told us to stick the box in a drawer somewhere.
No logic whatsoever as there's a box out there not being used which they could be making money off, but £23 a month for 200mb bb and a phone line (and a basic TV service we won't use) ain't half bad!

Virgin media wrote letters everyone about price rise n it clearly saying if you want leave virgin media you can leave before 30th November without any cancellation charge.
I thought it might help you. Cheers

I can't see anywhere on this site how you would get this package? The best I can see is £29 a month for 50mb Broadband, Talk weekends and TV?
I am currently on Phone and Broadband Only with a 70Mb connection but would happily get the TV if it meant paying less!
Any help appreciated

bma1445 - what's the 'Play' box your talking about? I'm in the same boat as you, can't stand how unresponsive the Tivo is and never use it for that reason, so was considering cancelling my subscription. Didn't know about the Play box, or that there were any alternatives to be honest.

yup, same here, shelling out around £60 a month for Tv/internet/phone. Called them to cancel the tv part, she said I would be paying MORE for keeping just phone & broadband. No sense to any of that.
Would like to know about this alternative box please.
I hate to be a cynic, but I just can't see virgin offering 200mb broadband, phone and any TV bundle for £23 to a new customer, let alone someone mid contract.

I am with Virgin TV / Phone / BB / Mobile
To be honest, I have so many minutes with my mobile (5000), I have not used the land line in months.
If I could drop the lane line I would, but the package will cost more with it removed.

Thank you for this post, called Virgin and had a wee chat, my Virgin package has now been reduced for 6 months saving almost £20 a month and even after the six months are up, it only increases by £3...
I called 150 and option 4, which took me through to cancel/leave Virgin and what a bonus, UK call centre :sunglasses:

Hopeless company, I'm in the process of leaving them after more than 14 years.
The last time I phoned up to complain about the intermittent loss of internet, I asked the the girl in the complaints dept who logged my call, what would happen next after she'd taken the details, she just said "I'm really not sure, all I do is log the complaints". Needless to say I never heard back about that complaint or the previous one.

Their complaints process is terrible. They'll log your complaint and that's it. Never any response.

I have no idea what package it is, we have a couple of weeks left until it changes and shows online (30 days notice since it was a downgrade). When it's online I'll upload a photo of the package they've put me on

Eee, I remember back in the day when the first TiVo came out, they seemed like a miracle and were brilliantly simple and intuitive to use -- and responsive. Sky ripped off their UI and their software and though TiVo did it better they never got a foothold in the UK after that. Whe I heard Virgin were bringing TiVo back I was thrilled - but with every 'software upgrade' the box has got slower and slower until using it is like walking through treacle. Too much silly tinsel like thumbnails and HD menus that the old hardware just can't handle quickly, and totally unnecessary. A real shame. Thanks for this heads-up OP - voting hot (so this post has a point)

How would I be able to get this? I'm currently on the XL – TALK UNLIMITED landline tarrif
Does it mean starting a new contract with them or is it a simple addition to existing package/contract?
Cheers!

I've just rung Virgin tonight. I have big telephone bundle (unlimited calls anytime up to 59 mins) and highest speed/download broadband. Had no idea I could ring mobiles and directory enquiries 118180 free until this evening, again up to 59 mins (advised to never be put through via DE, always re-call direct once number obtained) from my landline which was with the new price increase, £39.48. Was offered within the phone call special offer to £36.48 for 6 months without even asking for a reduction. .Worth a shot.

I'm pretty sure the price rises came in 1st November and you had until the end of October to cancel free of charge? At least that's what my letter said. I called the afternoon of the cutoff and they gave me a killer deal to stay, far better than when I called after I got the letter in September

So Sky has been doing this for about a year with more HD channel as standard on there boxset package. the down side BB is only up to 76 Mb though.

Apologies, it was option 5 ( retain team ) when I called Virgin on 150, I was paying £93 a month for TV, broadband and phone plus mobiles....So now on a new contract for 12 months, anyone unsure of their plan etc, do what I did, call them.

I was on the phone to them this morning.
Good news was that he upgraded the 'free calls to all mobiles' (except Lyca Mobile & some others that I hadn't heard of).
The bad new was that he informed that my monthly bill was going up from £29.99 to £41 after price increase & loss of a promotional credit. Then he tried to cheer me up by knocking off £3 a month til the end of my contract.
So all in I'm NOT HAPPY that I am now paying £38 from November not £29.99.
Oh well, contract ends mid March.....

That would be great to know thanks. I'm currently out of contract and prices have risen recently so no that happy, Phoned threatening to leave and the best they said they could do was knock £3 a month off for 6 months. Find it hard to believe thats the best they can do if you got a deal with TV and 200mb Broadband at £23 pm , does that include your line rental charge and everything?
cheers
