Seeing this thread reminded me to get my Amazon Fire out to see if anyone's come up with a way of rooting it once it's running Fire 5.3.1.0 Rootjunky have a supertool, it makes what was a hopelessly slow tablet usable, the Amazon bloatware strangles the tablets. I now have a working tablet with Nova launcher and Play store, I hope that's of use to someone.

agreed - may as well use your phone, don't see the point in getting a tablet with a screen size any less than 8 inches.
