eBay's Black Friday selling deal. Yet another discounted final value fee promotion from them. Valid for those eligible activating the link and listing by 21 November.
Not as big a discount as some recently, but in combination with the 10x Nectar points for purchases the following week, demand may be higher than normal.
remember if you close an auction with bids on it, you will get charged the seller's fee

Here we go again - where else can you get worldwide coverage for items you are selling ....... free of charge unless you sell ?
I post to Brazil, Russia, Canada, most countries in Europe, and I only pay if I sell, so I set my selling price to allow for the fees, as does everyone else.
There's a lot wrong with ebay, but when I've got several hundred listings free of charge, I'm not complaining.

That one was on between 30th October and November 2nd so if you listed them then on a BIN for 30 days they are still active.

I think they overlap them to confuse some people as they will forget that ones still live until the start of December on a BIN for 30 days.

ebay fees are disgusting. Beyond providing the infrastructure, which I appreciate is massive, they do virtually nothing but host the auction and still charge 10% whatever the final sales. I sold an item for £440 a few weeks ago and after ebay and PayPal fees, I ended up with £370.
whatyadoinsucka
16 Nov 161#39
£1 fee is better for anything over £20 i.e. Fee £2 less 50% =£1
But anything less and your saving
thesimpsons_uk

I seem to get that offer every few weeks, so unless you're in a rush to sell its cold or focusing on cheap items then its not worth it.

I don't like the fees either, but EBay do a shed load of work. Firstly, hosting the infrasructure and protecting it from attackers is a huge job. Secondly, dealing with scams and rogue dealers, so they have a team of staff watching posts looking for this and third dealing with disputes. I sold a top that I bought on eBay as it was too small. The buyer said it was a fake. I showed eBay that I had bought it in good faith, so they let me keep the sale money AND refunded the buyer. To be clear this was eBay dispute resolution, not PayPal. So the fees are a kind of insurance that protect us if the sale goes wrong. I have used dispute resolution many times. Can't do that with gumtree.

bigdeal66

All very true but it costs ebay the same to list an item for £1 or £1,000. I too have used ebay dispute resolution (as well as PayPal) in the past but to the very best of my knowledge, their fee system isn't as high as it is for any other reason other than because they have an absolute monopoly on online auctions.
whitman_the_cat
16 Nov 161#57
I had never seen a 1p offer, but did have £1 a month ago, and also a month before that. If I list with 30 day duration, there is often another offer to relist with such as now. Fortunately my bigger value items did sell last time around.
Of the things left, I plan to relist tomorrow with 10 day duration so they finish on Sunday 27th. With buyers getting an effective 5% back in Nectar points, I'm hoping there will be more interest and higher offers or bids.

WTF are you selling to pay 10 grand just in fees in a month?
I'm a business seller but have private account too (why not do that as well?).
As a business seller I get regular 'free' (zero) insertion fees for 7 days where I can list up to 50,000 items
Here's the blurb. What is the promotion?
Create up to 50,000 listing(s) (with a starting price of £0.99 or more), during the promotion period, in an eligible category using the fixed price format on eBay.co.uk and you will not pay an insertion fee per listing (promotional rate) during the promotion period when you actively opt in to the promotion via the Sign up now link shown in this email.
Think about it. How the hell can anyone list 50,000 items, even if I had that many items, and each has to have at least one pic, in 7 days? Nonetheless, still a good deal for me. Can't remember when I last paid a listing fee.
It's extremely regular this offer, and I just wait till it comes around each time then list as much as I can in the time.

Not getting at you in any way, but this just goes to show that many people rush in and start either listing or bidding without exploring the whole site and all the bits and bobs................... then go on the ebay forums (or here sometimes) and complain about something which is in the rules that they were in too much of a hurry to read.
Every time there's a promo on here someone asks if they can end an auction and relist, and also if the listing has to end within the time of the offer.
Not saying I'm an expert by any means, but I took a week of reading various ebay information pages as well as the buyer and seller forums before I started listing anything.
It's always worth having a look around the seller page, and also the new seller hub if you've opted in for that, and clicking on various drop down buttons to see what the options are - I found lots of interesting things I could find out and information obtainable with a simple click.

kamenitzabrit
16 Nov 161#92
Puzzled by the logic...... if they're selling that much it doesn't mean that it's 50% profit, otherwise every big seller would be a millionaire.
Every business has overheads, and the bigger the business then usually the bigger the wages, rent of premises, insurances and so on - have you any idea how much it costs to rent an industrial unit, or get insurance cover ?
For every member of staff, very often the employer has to pay the same amount to the government as the employee gets in wages, so add all the costs up and you might begin to understand why massive companies with lots of sales actually go bankrupt - recently there was British Home Stores, and there's talk of New Look having a bad time, but yet their shops are still busy.
I'm a very small business owner with only me working over six days a week (Not like charity shops who get free labour), but I wish I had a pound every time I've overheard people say something like ''so and so's never short of a few bob, got their own business you know'', when they really have not got a clue how many hours that person puts in or what their business expenses are - very often there's almost nothing left after paying bills, and it's only pride which prevents many business owners from closing the door and going unemployed to actually get more money and a lot less stress.

Depending on your selling limits and how much you've been restricted, you need to find something to sell for almost no 'profit' and try to increase your scores.
Lots of people sell cheap 99p freepost stuff to get turnover and help balance the negatives - look on the seller forums where there's usually someone willing to give advice, or read a story similar to yours and see how they dealt with it.

brindy66
16 Nov 16#97
I think you are confusing listing fee with final value fee !, if you are an eBay anchor shop you can list unlimited items for free and just pay the final value fee. Which is more or less 10% of the total price including shipping. An anchor shop subscription is a little past £217.00 a month but then you don't pay any listing fees so works out a good price if you run a business on eBay with 1000's of listings.

Lots of people sell cheap 99p freepost stuff to get turnover and help balance the negatives - look on the seller forums where there's usually someone willing to give advice, or read a story similar to yours and see how they dealt with it.
Oh here guys, we're selling PS4's at £100 here at Argos, come get one RIGHT NOW! Oh-, no, wait, it's only for you, you and you, the rest of you can SOD OFF.
this is still a hot offer..
But what I did notice yesterday is that I have a £15 off voucher for £75 and over purchases, expiring 18/11. Now this doesn't appear anywhere on eBay, so if I wouldn't check my email, then most likely I would miss it. Email was received on 15/11 so check yours!
I've never had an offer on FVF from eBay but fortunately I used the HUKD link on the November £1 max fee and I'd like the £15 voucher too...
But don't worry if you did not got the email. If you have it, then all you need to do is find an item on ebay for £75 or more (without postage) and you should see something like this:
Hope it helps!
