Buying this was so confusing because there are 5 versions of Dyson V6: Absolute (pink), Clean (red), Fluffy (blue), Animal (purple) and Standard (White). I bought the V6 Absolute but I want to share my experience here to help you decide the right version for you.
The difference among the Dyson v6 versions:
Standard - has a 20w motorhead attachment, this is the weakest of the series and a crevice tool
Animal - same motorhead attachment as the standard. In addition it has a mini motorhead for pets
Fluffy - has all the above and one additional soft brush attachment specifically designed for bare / hardwood floors
Clean - has all the above but a more powerful 35w direct-drive cleaner head - which replaces the standard 20w motorhead.
Absolute - has the mini pet tool as above, a more powerful 50w direct-drive than the Cleaner, and oddly, a very plain / simple attachment with silicon wipes for hardwood floors instead of soft brush attachment. In addition it has a Hepa filter at the motor exhaust - this also makes it a little heavier. All this will make the battery work a lot harder than the lower end versions.

Is the V6 animal the same base machine only with an additional head?
trying to work out if its worth the extra but looks like all you get is a different coloured 'hose' and one additional head?

so the main attachment (which is the same) isn't as powerful on the standard V6 because the motor is different?

I though that the only difference is that you get Mini Motorised Tool with Animal model ?
Deaa
24 Nov 16#9
That's what I'm trying to figure out. £30 extra for the mini tool is definitely not worth it (I find the non power stair tool thing better anyway) but if the motor is different then the animal may be the better deal here.. perhaps even the fluffy as the head seems to go for about £50 on ebay..

Dyson's website states that the suction power is the same in both models 28AW normal mode and 100AW MAX mode.
Motor spins at up to 110,000 rpm in both models.
Deaa
24 Nov 16#11
In that case they must be the same, makes this one seem like the best value. The mini tool is definitely not worth £30

Yeah think it is just the tool like you say, although I've read a review somewhere about them using HEPA filters in the animal but thought Dyson would use it as a selling point
Just from personal experience, I bought a vaccum (not this model) and a carpet cleaner from Vax last year. Carpet cleaner died literally 1 day out of warranty, vaccum cleaner is falling to bits and no suck. Would never buy a vax again. Now tempted to replace terrible Vax with this Dyson....

Has anyone got any refurbished items from Dyson before? Are they really second hand or just customer returns?

24 Nov 161#17
I've got two recently. They say it has 1 year warranty, but comes up as 2 when I register it. the machine looks New to me, the heads are which is the main thing. I reckon most are returns that are unused.

Thanks for the advice it is very useful. I'm confused though...which v6 is this one on eBay?
I purchased the animal from the Dyson outlet a few weeks ago. I don't know if it was a customer return or if a part failed and has been repaired. It looks new apart from 1 small mark on the handle.
The difference between the animal and the standard V6 is as mentioned above the extra attachments but also the size of the head is bigger (wider) on the animal which for me was worth the extra money.

I'm definitely getting one at this price. My sister bought but a few weeks ago when it was £144 and she loves it. Also worth noting I spoke to a Dyson spokes person at Curry's last week. He said he has 4 dogs and 2 cats and he says the normal V6 is just fine for him.

I have both this and the animal
Animal is a wider head and the useless extra head, heavier too
No other difference
Have bought these since they started making them
Best cordless out there
Only thing I don't like is the emptying the dust sticks higher up the chamber and can take some fiddling and banging to remove

Yes mine came in original packaging but has some minor scruffs on the pipe and bin. It looks like the motorhead is new.

Think I'm going to stick with the v6 base model for 129. Reviews suggest it's perfectly fine for normal use. And they are both excellent prices albeit refurb. Now on the look out for a Karcher. And a firestick. And a new sleigh, Maybe reindeer, Anyone?
