Are there any cheaper alternative brands that have the same form factor and battery etc. as the Dysons?
I would think they may have been copied by now and offered for less?

Was looking into this a while ago when I got mine. I though new Dysons had a 5 year warranty and their refurbs had a 2 year warranty. Might be different now of course

Cheers, I'll take a look.
Although I think its got to be related to the motorised brush bar not liking the change in surface rather than a blockage

Anyone that has a V6, does the brush bar stop whenever you go over the edge of a mat or similar? I know it's got protection to stop the motor getting damaged if the bar is clogged etc, but it happens quite a lot on mine.
Not sure if normal or faulty
Cheers

I have heard just inside the cyclone part (where the dust sits) if you take the attachments all off, their is a black metal swing arm type valve, this could be half closed or even fully closed, push it right in and it should swing in. Happened on the one I borrowed and thought I had broken it. was all good.

I went for the v8 Absolute for £360 (rrp £499). I was sceptical at first (wife really wanted one), as it's very expensive for a machine that does the same job as our big heavy corded Vax vacuum... but I can confirm that it's absolutely amazing! In particular, we have one "problem" rug that has always been difficult to vacuum, and in the past, wife used to go over it with a brush attachment and manually go over and over it to get it half clean. With the v8 (on max setting) I just ran it over the rug a couple of passes, and it was spotless, and went back to its original colour (I didn't even realise the coating of dust that had discoloured it)! Also as it is cordless and so lightweight and manoeuvrable, it's made me use it way more than our old Vax (it was a chore to lug it out of the cupboard, plug it in, run the cord, keep detangling it). So you could say that it works infinitely better than my old Vax because I'm actually using the Dyson now - it's pick up and go. After being very sceptical like a lot of people I am now a convert. Will try to attach an image.

Link please as I am struggling to find one. Thanks

LOL if James Dyson seen your title you wouldn't get a days warranty. It's a Hand Held Vacuum not a Hoover he hates Hoover with a vengeance.
To give you an idea Dyson are making about £100 out of this even at this price. Makes me cringe at the margin they make.
Like laptops/mobiles/tablets, to get any real performance out of them you half the time of the battery rest of the time they are throttled to make the battery last, these Dyson's are the same to get the most use out of it you have to have it on low power to get the time stated and it be hard pushed with the extension on.
Must admit your doing a house that size with one is very hard to believe if you did it on a single charge must be one of those tiny new builds  and don't think I'm having a go and I'm not trolling you, its meant to be jovial, fair play if this is good for you!

Is this more powerful than three standard v6? Or is it just a different head?

Can you explain, this seemed a good piece of kit, does it go downhill with time. V8 just bigger battery and better way to empty isnt it? cannot see how worth nearly double the price.

No it's fine. No reason to lie, borrowed my works first before taking the plunge. Not a new build , 110 years old this gaff with a attic conversion ! Happily did house on normal power ! Certainly would not buy one on a wim - recently moved in and re did the carpets (work in carpets ) carpets covered 125m2 and i blitzed around in around 20 minutes as it's so bloody good- 1 empty of them bin - happy days - each to their own mind you - Not sure how £100 profit it such a bad thing, that's life isn't it.
cold - description is inaccurate. It's not a 'Hoover'

Just for the record - borrowed a new one from work fully charged - got around my 4 bedroom house with 2 sets of stairs and large lounge and dining area well before the battery run out ! Well impressed - can get under my drawers and bed etc - even the kids wanted to do it. Probably been cheaper but this appears to be the cheapest right now.
