Anybody know if there is any difference in this model and the silver one (apart from colour) On Amazon. The Black model is cheaper for some reason?

aye, incredible deal. The only thing missing was the instructions which I got online. it clearly hasn't ever been used.
I've managed to pick one of these up in a warehouse deal for 205 minus 50 for the current warehouse deal. The condition is labeled as 'very good'. Is there anything in particular I should be checking?

I know it's ultimately personal preference but having bought this, can anyone recommend a good strong bean to start on, close to High St Costa flavour as a reference? Nespresso capsules are costing too much but certainly very convenient.

I used to buy Starbucks French Roast but they've stopped selling those beans :disappointed: Went through so many types including Illy, but nothing compared...

I also misread your post, how many grind sizes are available? Why doesn't this work for you? Genuinely curious.

Had mine for over a year now. Usually makes at least 5 cups a day, and still going very strong. Makes lovely coffee. I've recently taken to decaf and its so easy to do. I have whole beans to make 'proper' coffee, and use decaf ground coffee in the manual insert part. Great for half caf too by just making half of each. I can say that this was my best purchase of 2015!

Is the 3 year extra warranty any good? Seems like a good deal:

Probably not, because in reality it's providing cover only for year 3 - the first two are covered by De'Longhi.

This delonghi does have grind control. It's inside the bean compartment on the left.

Did not realise these had no grind control (mine are Gaggia/Philips). I struggle to find decent coffee while out as my home coffee is so good.

Well I put 3kg of beans through mine over a 6 week period. Unfortunately the lack of control over grind size lets them down. If they were stepless it could be good.

Too good. How about sending the HD8651 my way?

These consumer bean to cup machines are perfectly capable of producing a fantastic cup of coffee, maybe you're doing it wrong.

Warehouse clearout, also bought an HD8766 for £159 (now with parents) and an HD8651 for £102 though I have still to decide where it's going.

I paid £229 last year - I hate coffee but bought for coffee-loving hubby anniversary present. It's a great machine and makes great coffee according to him, used to have a coffee shop so he knows! Hope this helps

Can't of been much of a coffee shop if he thinks these churn out good coffee. No wonder he used to have one.

I got one of these last year. First one broke after 3 months and the replacement didn't last too long either. Currently on my third which seems to be OK so far. Does make nice coffee once you get the settings correct. Just make sure to avoid caramelised beans which will clog the machine up. I tend to use ones from a local coffee shop or if I run out the lavazza from the supermarket is also decent.

And use filtered water and descale every couple of months. I had years ago never any problems but I was OCD about taking good care of it. Sold it after 2 years for only £50 less than I'd bought it. They hold some value.

A much better idea than the pod machines, my calculations confirm bean/running costs are comparable to 'decent' instant.
Decent price for a good machine though not as good as the £122 I paid for a Philips HD8761 in May.
Most likely a drop shipper. The business rents virtual office space / telecoms services on a 600 acre farm in Swansea. Richard actually resides over the Channel in Devon (he wasn't very happy about the planning application for new builds near his home...)

I have one of these I bought around 14 months ago and it is excellent. I use it a few times a day for Latte's and have not had any problems with it. I don't use the steam wand though as it is easier to use a separate automatic milk frother/warmer.

Steam wand is really easy to use but you need to ditch the outer tube bit. Follow the guide that starts half way through this vid for perfect results every time... https://youtu.be/sVSsHQPdtdY
