Definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results, expect I don't know who the crazy ones are - Dell for posting these deals when their site is not up to coping with the demand, or us mugs for wasting our time trying to get them.

If say the JL one was much better value for money.
- Bigger 17.3" screen (negative for some I suppose)
- Faster i7 7500U processor
- Discrete AMD 445M 4 GB graphics card
- 3 year warranty, vs. 1 year here.
loop
28 Nov 161#9
This is £100 cheaper though.
Yep a 15" screen is better for most - also makes it much lighter.
Extra USB 3.0 here.
Will the processor speed difference be that noticeable? 7th gen i5 still quick.
All depends what you want it for.

damn, i already bought the ideapad 310 amd a12 from jlewis for £330 :disappointed: , my only beef with dell is that they sometimes have some shoddy reliabilty issues. 1 year warranty would be a concern.

28 Nov 161#14
This is for general use computing, browsing the web, word docs, spreadsheets, powerpoint, media creation, very light gaming. Only slightly better performance than the i3 which was at £199 but you won't see any difference if you bought say an i3 and added an SSD. So for £150 extra, nearly the price of 2 x i3 laptops, is it worth it. Absolutely not

Huh? That's news to me I could probably be described as an all out Dell fanboy if you looked at my kit and it's all been rock solid apart from when I dropped a vostro v13 down the stairs (RIP). just my experience, i had a £500 dell laptop i used for uni years ago which managed to unsolder the graphics chip due to heating issues after 2 years, it was a common problem that dell knew about but never fixed. The more expensive stuff probably has higher build quality but their cheaper stuff has motherboard issues. i`ve owned 3 dells before, 2 of the cheaper ones broke after 1-2years use. the only one that has lasted cost £800 at the time.

For those looking to purchase this like I was for an uncle, be aware that the battery is integrated into the case and cannot be replaced when it no longer holds charge. You'll either need to send it back Dell to be replaced, or open it up yourself and replace it if you know how. The Dell site doesn't allow a swappable battery to be selected which is kind of BS. I confirmed this with a Dell Sales person online.
