My 2 cents on the matter. Is this a good deal? Yes, probably the best priced SSD you'll see in this entire sale.
Is it better than a Samsung 850 Evo? No BUT... this is better value for money at this price. £110 for that SSD is a steal, its better in all performance and realibility aspects compared to this corsair, I say keep it all the way unless you really need the extra 250GB. I personally went for this, as I have allot of big space taking games, which I know would eat into a 500GB. Now if a 750GB Samsung 850 Evo pops up for £100 I think I hit the digital lottery :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi,
Once you go to SSD you won't go back to HDD unless it's just for storage of files.
Depends on your usage really.
At the moment I have got 3 x 256 SSD and run out of space, most space took games (some high end games take 20GB-60GB), video editing... So bough this one, could not resist at this price point!

I built mine in August and went for 3tb hard drive and 250gb ssd. The ssd is really convenient for use with saving you time loading games, accessing files and just wish this deal was available when I was building mine. Could you potentially buy this and add a 2tb Hard drive down the line.
My only criticism is be careful on what you install on it as 750gb will run out quickly if you download every game within your steam library.

For typical users performance isn't the issue with SSDs - it's size, easy to fill them up given how small they often are compared to a typical HD. On that basis this size, for this price, seems a good deal.

Damn I paid £146 for this on the 31st October, knew I should of waited.
I got the 960GB Sandisk Ultra II last year for £142.99, so about 0.15p/GB, and it's been 'totes amazeballs' as a games drive. This is 0.14p/GB, which is kinda bargalicious and makes it a prime contender to replace my ageing 128GB Crucial m4 (by the way, £1.02/GB!!) - it's almost five years old, and a bit small by now. Stop making me want to buy stuff...

Bought one to stick in my 27" same year. You will need a sensor cable if replacing the mechanical hard drive otherwise the fans will run full pelt as the hard drive contains the firmware that helps control the fan speed.
Google OWCDIDIMACHDD11 for the cheapest price in the UK. As a stopgap, you can try using MacsFan Control or similar software to manually control the speed of the fans. I don't know of any other parts manufacturer apart from OWC that makes this sensor, so there are no great savings to be made, unfortunately.

I don't see why not, it would just be the case of getting an external USB enclosure for them to get them set-up - saying that though I honestly can't remember if Trim is supported over USB (god I'm having a senior moment again!) but should be alright.

Google OWCDIDIMACHDD11 for the cheapest price in the UK. As a stopgap, you can try using MacsFan Control or similar software to manually control the speed of the fans. I don't know of any other parts manufacturer apart from OWC that makes this sensor, so there are no great savings to be made, unfortunately.
message me if you have a good 250ish to sell
The price is now back to £161.13
Do you guys reckon that if I got this drive it would be transformative as far as speed & performance goes?
Thanks.

Still shows as £105.99 in the little chooser boxes below the item, but the main price is now £161.13
STILL AVAILABLE folks at £105.99p...on back order and due back instock on December 2nd:smile:
was waiting for a good SSD deal
one of these babies will replace ageing OCZ 60gb from back in the day
that was recently ressurected as OS drive to dual boot W10...
but what to do with it now?
For those that wanna reminise:
Price from June 2011 (ebuyer)
Item: OCZ 60GB Agility 3 SSD - SATA-III - Read 525MB/s Write 475MB/s 50,000 IOPS
Qty: 1
Cost: 79.15 + VAT!!
Looking forward to receiving the Crucial drive and having space to move other games across from my hybrid drive for that extra performance boost!
Doubt we will see this capacity for this price much lower if at all for a while. SSD prices are supposed to be going up next year so said the buyer at OCUK.
Still works - great little OS drive for the time.
You likely wont be getting a 750gb optane ssd for anywhere near £100 for years.
If anyone has changed kind or has spare to sell PM please.
Edit: Paid £158.59 for that almost exactly 5 years ago!!
To replace the turnip you're currently using
Or are you just like Chubby Brown's braindead hecklers - "Look at me !!! he's talking to me !!! HUH HUH HUH"
So similar. But you're a tedious turd so I'm putting you on ignore. Sometimes I can be bothered mocking dopes like you. Todays not one of them
