Pretty sure this is a good deal for 8GB of DDR4 RAM in this economic climate. Please correct me if I'm wrong though!
This is dual rank RAM rather than single rank I think.

Looks like a pretty darn good deal to me! Got 2 myself. Just need to find a new mobo now... heat added!

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on prices as I'm building a new PC soon, was just waiting on Black Friday deals. This is pretty darned tempting though!

Great deal, and hopefully the plain look will deter most "gamers" from getting it too, leaving it to people who actually need it!

Awkward... I got this mainly for gaming and multi-tab browsing. Just thought I'd future proof/invest in some extra headroom as this is quite cheap. Do you think 16GB is excessive for 4K gaming? I have 8GB DDR3 1600MHz at the moment.

A few games can probably use more than 8Gb, but I think 99% of games don't. It was more aimed at the typical gamer thinking they run games better with ram that have huge heatsinks and RGB lights on :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I'm building a gaming PC too, but I'd strongly consider this as I'm on a budget. The H110 chipset I'll likely use is capped at 2133Mhz for memory anyway, so faster memory would be wasted - whereas the gamers you mention would likely have a Z170 which takes faster memory than this.

I just bought 2 sticks. That's really cheap for 8 GB.
Now, I just need to get all the other bits.
Come on Amazon, give us a good price on i7 6700k

it was £299 briefly on Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks ago.... before it got listed as Prime only. Since then it's shot up to £320+ ....wtf? Aria.co.uk has them for around £315 atm

I was bored so I checked the other EU Amazon sites for you.
Amazon Spain have the 6700k for £296 delivered when paying in GBP (no card fees). If you pay in Euros it's €332 (£286) delivered, but you'll need an appropriate card as to avoid any foreign currency transaction fees.
For reference, Amazon UK currently want £324 for a 6700k.

If you don't need the cpu right now and can wait 6 weeks or so, the price will drop 5-10% as the new Kaby Lake processors will be announced on Jan 5th 2017 and released around that week. The new i7-7700k is around 5-10% faster than the current i7-6700k with a stock rate of 4.2ghz and is said to be priced at the current i7-6700k. By waiting, you could also pick up a Z270 board.

Exactly the CPU i'm waiting for as well. I7 6700k @ 4ghz and a Z170 mobo.

Good price , nice find. Those waiting for Black Friday deals don't get your hopes up with the £ getting battered and even Scan commented on a Facebook post about that.

Don't think you'll get a better deal on DDR4 for 8GB sticks (you might see some faster ones, but not cheaper I think). If I was building something new in the next few months, I'd snap up 2 of these in a heart-beat. Convinced a mate to do so too!

Dual rank seems to be the generally accepted "optimal", but it makes little difference.

Happy to help, might as well make the most of free access to the other EU Amazon sites whilst we still can!
Do bear in mind, whilst the 6700k and 7700k may well have near identical USD prices, Intel may take the chance to jack up the UK price of the 7700k reflect the pathetic state GBP is currently in. Remember, Intel still have no competition at the moment, aside from their own products from previous generations. If that happens, price drops on the 6700k are much less likely.
Also there's no saying how good supply of the 7700k will be in the first weeks after launch, which could again result in higher prices, especially in foreign (to the USA, where Intel are based) markets.

Cheers bud! Ordering 2 up just now as I have been thinking about it all day lol Besides if by some miracle I do find a better deal in the coming weeks then I can always return this back. I still have other components to buy so chances are it won't be getting used for a while.

It came up on my checkout that there is a promo. Try it on your end and see if that works?
I'm pretty sure I seen someone post it up here the other day or so as well. I had forgotten about it but during checkout the offer came up and I purchased a 40quid gift voucher.
Just be wary of the pound, sharp drops in it could negate any potential savings as intel cpu's are priced in dollars. Also, if you see an amazing deal on an i5 or i7, you may be better off snapping it up. Nobody has a crystal ball but I'm waiting for the new CPU's because I just want the faster ones and a Z270 board.

I bought this a couple of days ago while temporarily out of stock anyone have any previous with amazon do they tend to get them in speedily or even at all?
matt101101 to harry123453
19 Nov 16#35
It varies from item to item. Some stuff's out of stock for ages, other stuff has been restocked within a few days. From all the hundreds of things I've bought off Amazon over the years, the only pattern seems to be that if they give a time estimate (1-2 weeks, for example), it's almost always less than that.

No worries man, I use them all the time, service is exceptional and it always arrives promptly. They are also stocking the 6700k for £309 which I believe is amongst the cheaper of the online retailers.
