Is it true that it is not possible to entirely disable filters /DSP? I.e. is it possible to use the dac and hear music without any equalisation applied? That's the main thing that has stopped me buying one at rrp.
Edit - can see on the website that it says you can. I'm sure I read on head-fi you couldn't. It looks like it packs more features than most of the similar price competition though. Heat added, for a good deal.

I've always been tempted to buy one of these, however the name puts me off, Sound Blaster. It sounds like something you would find in the Pound Shop alongside the **** audio leads.

Don't let the name put you off, they're around for very long time.

They did great sound cards back in the day.

Really, how do they compare with say, "Fiio"?

I had an e10k before this and although the e10k gave a more neutral sound I love the soundblaster because of all the customisation and features.
The sound blaster sounds better imo because I was able to customise it to what I wanted to hear.
Also I like the fact I can use the sound blaster with my sennheiser 598 + modmic and when my phone is connected i am able to talk to people through my headphones and mic.

As someone mentioned I remember sound blaster even 20 years ago.
I can't compare it with Fiio as never heard either, but as I had many sound blasters fairly sure you won't be disappointed especially with all these features and reduced price.

Yeah, and I paid two hundred quid for one of them in Tandys back in the day :disappointed:

Thanks, I really do appreciate your reply. Would it be possible to trouble you to another question? I've looked at their website and loads of things are on offer, I don't know if you have looked but my question is, is there anything else worth buying? If not don't worry and thanks again. Cheers.
Sorry, forgot to say it's just whilst I'm buying this, it will save checking out more than once.
First a Soundblaster 8bit, then 16, an Awe32 (physically huge card, maybe a 3/4) upgraded to 64. Had a flirtation with AdLib in second PC and can still recall my excitement at the anticipation of their PCI Gold card, but the useless sods went under before a UK release.
I've been waiting to pull the trigger on buying a DAC and this looks great bang for your buck. Now I just need some nice headphones to go with it. :sunglasses:

I've had one of these for a couple of years. Excellent piece of kit and well worth it. Connect anything to anything pretty much. I've used it both as a headphone amp and also an ADC for vinyl rips to a PC.

I'm not back in the UK till Christmas, so it's a case of buying bits and bobs as and when the best deals appear between now and then. Otherwise, absolutely Flop

Muffinss, i am tempted. I also bought the 598's last Black Friday but have not used them much at all.
The question i have is:
Once / If the internal battery dies, can it be still powered from USB?

Hey i have a question i was going to buy the G5 for the scout mode ect however this one seems realy veratile. My Question is does the E5 come with the same software as the G5 and do you get scout mode?

Also is it worth the extra £40 over the e10k if i want going the use the battery or the bluetooth
Muffinss
14 Nov 16#37
100% is worth it. The G5 is the worse version of this without bluetooth or battery but it is more expensive. This also has scout mode.

Been using it a lot and it's superb for the price with great build quality.
Found it quite cool that I had it connected Bluetooth to iPhone and USB to iPad and it plays sound simultaneously from both devices.
