Got this beast from Croydon this morning, new it was big, but didn`t realise how big, lucky i`v got high ceilings :confused:

Are these the non drop Norman fir or the cheaper Norway Spruce that drop needles please?

Got mine in Belfast today, £25 for the tree, £12 for the stand and then the £20 voucher back for Jan.

Got this deal at IKEA Edinburgh yesterday and they were giving out a £5 off Christmas store voucher to use right away (no minimum spend). Makes the £25 tree "free" as you get the £20 voucher as well. Nice 6ft tree too.

So is the Croydon store participating this year then as they don`t usually? Also anyone know how long these last? if you buy end Nov, surely it will be worse for wear by xmas?! (Heat added)

We've had one from the Nottingham store for the past 3 years. They sell out fast, but even bought early Dec have always lasted well in to the new year if watered & not kept in too hot a room (or like suggested have the bottom cut off and kept in water outside). Had a 7ft the first year, but they are all around 5ft now, the staff are happy to help you oil one though & will re bag your choice. You pay. In store before picking one.

Hi according to the website my local (gateshead)will start receive stock on the 22nd of Nov. Does anybody is it possible for different store to start earlier?

Done this the last two years from the ground floor car park of the Southampton store. OK if you're after a 5 foot tree, but good luck getting anything taller. 6 foot plus trees are always on very high demand and very short supply. Trees were usually already netted up, so if you're fussy about the shape you'll need to ask the staff to remove the netting. This can be a pain when the store is busy and can feel like a bun fight. Also, bear in mind that you won't be able to start using the £20 voucher until after the January sale has finished. This year will be going to my local garden centre as they will be selling all sizes of Nordman Firs for £15. This is a much better proposition and you too may be able to source a similar deal locally.

Got the tree home, put it up etc....

Couple of days later I come home from work....Baby spiders everywhere! Eggs stuck to the tree had hatched due to the warmth in the house.

Ikea replaced it with an atificial one when I called customers services.

So yeah, if you are going to do this, make sure you shake your tree before entering the house!!

Fill the pot/bucket it's in with water... or else you'll have a dead tree pretty quickly

Offer it a brew.

I do this every year and providing you water the tree every other day it will last at least 4 weeks

Thanks for the tip. Thinking about it, I was planning to do exactly this, this year, but had forgot! I'm so glad you pointed it out, genuinely.

I have done this in the past and my mother puts hers in the cellar as she is lucky enough to have one. Leaving it outside in water and watering it means it should last without problems.

A lot of these shed their needles last year. The problem is that they had been picked before having a proper frost, which causes the needles to lock on somehow. I'm not sure where these come from but it's been a warm year...

I've done the same in previous years. This is probably better than waiting til you need it because it's likely they've all been cut and waiting to be delivered/sold for a while before you purchase.

It's a pity that they don't start this offer a bit closer to Christmas. Expecting a cut tree to last well over a month in a heated home is too much. Surely they could leave it at least until December?

Bought my voucher at Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago. Used an Ikea family £5 off voucher and got meal for two in the restaurant from swipe and win.

Edit: meant swipe a surprise! Swipe and win was Sainsbury's/Nectar.

Belfast store shows as more stock arriving 20/11/16!?! Considering Belfast weren't going to start selling until the day after the rest of the UK last year....
