Yes, I realise that this is a regular deal, but it's back on and it really is a brilliant whisky and held in very high regard amongst whisky drinkers.
Please note: This is an Islay malt, but it is non-peated and so does not have that phenolic / TCP taste of other Islay malts (eg. Laphroig).
Highly recommended, if you are thinking of getting someone a bottle of whisky as a present then why not get them something good and interesting rather than the more obvious base bottlings?!
Nahhh, it's nothing without that classy, smoky background. I'll stick to Ardbeg, Lagavulin or even JWB.

Some debate about pronunciation; family on islands have the gaelic and they pronounce it; 'Boona-hah-ven'.

No expert on Gaelic, but that looks about right.
So this doesn't taste of nothing but smoke? I'm never been sure about Islay whiskies after trying (I think it was) Lagavulin and thought I was downing a house fire... Never tried another Islay whisky since.

It's actually surprisingly nice, the real smoky one is the ceobanach and it's especially nice.
However, if you're not too keen on the Islays' in general perhaps you'd be happier with a smoother speyside.
But, don't write off all the Islays without trying the Bowmore.
Back in the day, when I first toured the inner and outer islands I was astonished at the amount of whisky the locals could knock back - and still climb hills back to their homes!
I often had little to no recollection of how I got back to my relatives homes.
They drank many different malts, but Lagavulin appeared to be the most popular choice among them.

I tried the 12 against the 18 and didn't think there was that much in it. For the price the 12 is well up there.

Pity we don't have a Waitrose where I live. Bunnahabhain 12 is gorgeous and stunning value at that price.
