I just bought one from Currys as one of their black tag deals. Tassimo machines imo are all more or less the same except for design and water capacity (this one's quite large) and with their 7 day price promise, if it goes any cheaper on Friday I have kept my receipt.

How much do the drinks work out on these? Are there any compatibles?

There are lots of varieties of drinks available all at different prices; but I currently like the Costa Americano, currently on offer on Amazon at £15 for 80 pods - 20p per coffee.

Hot deal OP, thanks!

How hot does the water get? Is it hot, hot or just hot enough to drink straight away?

It gets pretty hot, not really drinkable straight away. You can make tea so it must be close to boiling.

Hot for price of machine, cold for quality of any of their drinks which use the milk pods.

I gave up using the milk pods, just heat some milk in the microwave first for 30 seconds. No biggie. Didn't really like the taste of the milk pods anyway.

no compatable pods but they work out at about £15 for 80 pods so about 19pence per cup (Amazon). Some are more expensive like hot chocolate.

Cool. Just to check I seen the Americano ones, but they say that 80 pods are 40 servings. Is that 40 cups? As I would be looking at mugs, so might be quite expensive for me? Not sure if I'm reading it right?

Got it last year at same price. Good machine but the pods are very expensive.
Mine now needs descaling and is looking a bit battered. Tempted to get it again

Kenco Colombian 215ml is my fave and fills a good size mug. Americano Grandeur 270ml is also good value but not as refined. each box has 16pods = 16 servings. Be careful with drinks needing 2 pods (EG Costa) as one pod is coffee and the other milk. these work out more expensive and as mentioned previously coffees taste much better by heating milk in the microwave for 20secs. Another favourite is Jacobs expresso dropped into a hot mug of milk. Voila a perfect latte.

The Vivy has a smaller tank but it's prettier as far as I can tell.

trust me the bigger the tank the better

The Americano would fill a cup not a mug. Same with most of them but nice coffee isn't meant to be in huge mugs.

only just started using mine after a kitchen refit and love it! shame you cannot get any compatible pods, but I normally stick to the 16 pod drinks as they work out cheaper

Anyone wanting one of these delivered, currys still have them available on their eBay account. All my local stores were out of stock and it's unavailable for home delivery on main site.
