It's the same product... How would Boots batch be different from the Fragrance Shop? Or are you simply suggesting the Fragrance Shop are selling counterfeit products?

Boots batches of Bleu are legit and way better (longevity of smell) than the same stuff bought from Fragrance Shop.

I have contacted them several times about this, they just palm it off as a different batch.... Do your own research, buy one from the Fragrance Shop and one from Boots.... then you decide and post back. The difference in longevity is astounding. This isn't just with Chanel Bleu, its been a similar story with others bought from Fragrance Shop. It could be the scent itself, or even faulty spray dispensers, but there is always something not right about buying from FS.

It is not. I have one from amazon and one from boots. Looks same but they are not same. Hate one from amazon.

I have got Blue de Chanel looks almost same but I have little writing on it saying Eau De Parfum, what is the difference between this one and mine as the one in deal is Eau De Toilette. Confused :/

I've also returned items which I thought were counterfeit from both Fragrance Shop and Amazon. I have a large collection of aftershaves and had identical (genuine items) to compare them to. I also go on Fragrantica.com an awful lot so I typically know when things have been reformulated. A dead give away of a counterfeit is normally longevity being significantly less (often ~1 hour) and the notes not being quite the same, but other clues include small differences in the bottle, packaging, colour of the juice, printing quality, serial numbers (which can sometimes be checked direct with manufacturers) etc. Someone on here provided a feasible explanation once of how otherwise legitimate companies can send out counterfeits; it's when unscrupulous customers buy a genuine item but send a counterfeit back for a refund. They shell out pennies for a counterfeit, but receive a genuine product and then get a refund. I hate those sort of people.

This seems a good price. I don't have a Boots near me since I live in the middle of nowhere but can anyone tell me how this smells, or a perfume it smells like? I know it's a bit difficult but would really appreciate if someone can help me out.

Boots have had some good deals this winter for EDT/EDP's for men and women.

The serial number just tells you when it was manufactured - it should match the box. You'd need to dig a little deeper to check for a fake, but the obvious tell-tales are obvious things like dodgy print on the box, inconsistencies on the print, proportions. Sprayer that comes off, a too-thick spray tube.

(look for the magnetic cap - the "CC" logo should go on straight - some fakes do have magnetic caps but the symmetry is "off", etched serial number on the glass (matches the box), embossed print/logos on the box, poor finishing, rough edges on the glass mould).

I think it is a bit bigger than unscrupulous customers. I really do think this is small scale counterfeiting operations. Its very common to see on Amazon for example a cluster of one star reviews either saying fake or saying something that implies a fake (such as ..."Not as good as it used to be only lasted an hour"). I think the safest way is to buy in store where you can verify one box against the rest (assuming they ain't all fake) if you aren't sure.

With weaker fragrances I'd agree that it's worth paying the extra but in this case the EDT lasts plenty long enough and wouldn't really advise anyone to pay that much extra. The votes on Fragrantica are there so you don't have to take my word for it.

With Amazon (and I have bought a few scents from there, and believe me I throw the book at fake sellers), and other retailers, you have to watch for the switcheroo - an open box with the correct packaging but someone's returned it with a fake.

Other than that I don't know about genuine retailers selling fakes without their knowledge. Obviously third party sellers/ebay etc should be treated with caution.

Not sure about that. Not many 'fake' statements say the packaging had been opened and if the quality of cellophane can indicate a fake you betcha that cellophane can be a sealed box.
