So much nonsense posted when it comes to mobiles. Especially so if BlackBerry are involved. The Playbook? Really?
Hardware is good. Build is good. Yes it creaks a little. And I mean a little. It has moving parts for goodness sake! It apparently creaks less so in later models. Sliding mechanism is very satisfying.
It has a great screen with dual curved edges. Battery is ok. Could be better IMO considering it's size.
Keyboard isn't their best ever, but it's good. 100% the best physical KB on an Android at this level. That's fact! Virtual KB is exclusive to BB phones (unless you sideload) It's good too.
Two good choices for typing. More than most phones.
Close to stock Android. Most BlackBerry added software features can be de-activated or uninstalled.
BlackBerry (no longer called RIM) are transitioning to a software company. Their business is software and software support. I'd bet they'll update to at least the latest Security Patch for as long as they can. Nougat? No idea. But how many 2015 phones are getting Nougat?
Are BlackBerry going to survive? I'd place money on them before HTC. Don't see much profits at LG or Sony either...
Bottom line: If you want a nice phone with a keyboard, this is a good price. If the keyboard isn't a feature you desire, maybe look elsewhere.

I have this phone since Dec 2015. Great phone. Very easy to type on the physical keyboard
New BB phone with PKB has been hinted and I would prefer a BB Classic clone (with android)

£299.38 with shipping (£11.38) so CPW at £299.99 with cash back would be better (although Blackberry has a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee (although I believe shipping back is your cost).

Blackberry make quality hardware that's also very reliable. Plus it is not the usual sheep phone so therefore it's cool as well as hot!

well I'd not risk another blackberry product, they've pulled out of hardware production. Not promising.

I hear all the Blackberry concerns but I still use a Passport and it's going strong. The PRIV is a fantastic phone and it's Android based not some oddball QNX stuff so there's no real worry? But, don't be fooled, that keyboard isn't as good as the ones in the Classic, Passport and other previous phones.

I'm glad you used the word apparently. As they really don't, is the keyboard as good as the bold ? of course not its smaller but also has gesture controls to make up for it .
pretty dam solid I've dropped it many a time.

The sales and warranty on shop blackberry is run by Digital River (*Partners) and Not directly with Blackberry. Return to them is at own cost. Apparently Digital River doesn't have great customer service either according to Crackberry and google search

But their newer ones do such as the DTEK60, are you saying that is less secure? Also that means you can only unlock with pattern, password and pin, I doubt they are more secure.
Always been a fan of physical keyboards ... had to abandon the form factor when my Samsung Captivate Glide died in Summer 2014 and there was absolutely no upgrade available on the market so plumped for the LG G2.
When the Priv came out I was delighted and vowed to buy it when my G2 dies ... but it's still going strong lol. In the meantime I've now become quite used to virtual keyboards so am in two minds as to whether my next phone will indeed be the Priv or something more high spec.

Also available from Dixon Travel at UK airports for £299 sim free. Surprised to read about 3 week wait - they must be selling fast at shop Blackberry. The price may drop after Christmas, it was £399 on a previous special in September - BUT the Passport has only dropped to £235 and that runs on BB10 and may only ever get 1 more update (if ever). I've just bought the Priv at Dixon Travel. I don't think it will fall below £249 and that could take a while. The Priv is supposed to get Nougat update too.
