From director Zack Snyder (“Man of Steel”) comes “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” starring Oscar winner Ben Affleck (“Argo”) as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”) as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters’ first big-screen pairing.
Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Still about £9.98 too much for me to bite. Terrible film.
Haven't seen X-Men Apocalypse or Suicide Squad, so have yet to determine just how bad those are...

Why does Superman say 'save Martha' instead of 'save my mother?'

Nothing wrong with this film. It was pretty cool compared to most the crap released. Maybe for some it's the mixing of characters ... Takes a while to accept the transition of imagination.

The extended version is brilliant in comparison to the theatrical release. It helps if you have seen "Man of steel" As to see why Batman hates superman. Also it introduces characters to the next movie "Justice League"

Because presumably he knows Bruce couldn't save his own mother (also Martha), so he knows that Bruce would respond to the chance to save Martha this time?

Heat added as its the cheapest price at the moment, but I was (like many) disappointed with the film.

This film could have been saved if:
1) Christian Bale had returned as Batman
2) Lex Luther wasn't an EXACT copy of the Joker
3) There wasn't a dream sequence every 5 minutes
Well, it would be a start...

Yes because hopelessly crow-barring in a contrived similarity in the naming of their mums is Oscar material? This film is not even worthy of having Christopher Nolan use its script to pick up his dog's stool of an evening. Absolutely dire. Here's an idea DC, stop making films and just buy shares in Marvel.

We already know he's aware of Batman's real identity - he calls him by his real name - so it's not much of a stretch to assume he did major research on Bruce Wayne's entire history and background. There's a lot wrong with this movie - but this scene does make sense.

apart from Batman's the greatest detective in the world and he doesn't already know this? And the only way he can snap out of his complete unreasonably explained rage is they share the same mother's name? talk about a cheap cop out. It sounds like something a child would write. And was acted as cringe worthy as it probably read on paper.
This year has been so bad for big budget super hero films. Thank God civil war got it right.
zoso1313
6 Nov 161#33
Civil War is so overrated. Too many characters, and it's just a CGI borefest. Never any sense of danger....the whole Marvel thing is becoming very tired and samey, thank god Dr Strange did something different with the franchise.
The extended cut of Superman V Batman plays with far more interesting concepts tied into the real world.

I never said it didn't make sense. It's just bloody stupid.
It is a major stretch because the film doesn't actually show that. Why are people so eager to defend plot holes with stuff that isn't actually in the film?
skykid3

Superman is pants anyway, he's an illegal alien, Trump would have him deported
They were pitted against each other, bonds broken and egos exploited, and the main 'bad guy' used human manipulation rather than super human powers to do it. How was that samey?
Captain America films are going from strength to strength and dealing more into the political rather than the tired old superhero formula.
It made good use of its characters...none really felt wasted in the plot, unlike other marvel films.
I think it stands right up there as one of the best, alongside guardians of the galaxy, personally.

So you need to actually see Superman googling Bruce Wayne's background history, otherwise it's too implausible that it ever happened?!
Also the mother of both Batman and Superman have always been called Martha - that isn't the fault of this film, people should blame the original DC comics for that.

I didn't say that, either. If it's not in the movie you can't claim it happened. That's a failure on the filmmakers as it would have been so easy to show it.
And the Martha thing will always be stupid. The same man who said 'if there is a 1 percent chance he is our enemy we must treat it as an absolute certainty' - an extreme statement that shows batman has lost his damn mind - suddenly has his opinion changed on the flimsiest pretense imaginable.
