Nice find, holding out for a 1080 unless a 1070 with better cooling goes down to a ridiculous price today :man:

Cheap out on a reference card and you will regret it...unless you have an inhuman tolerance for noise.

They are better for sli. That's about the only reason to get one .
Sadly SLI seems to have lees and less support these days. It used to be the cheapest upgrade path.

No issues with my FE version (which is reference IIRC) in terms of noise, in fact less noisy than my Tri-X 290 which is replaced.

Unless you have a small ITX case.

This might have a reference PCB, but it's not a reference card.

No problems with noise on my 1070fe, I wanted a blower as the card would be sitting against a power supply and hard drive bays but it's never noisy.

GTX1070's have such a low TDP reference coolers are fine. Obviously not quite as good as a custom cooler but this is a 150w card we are talking about. It gets by fine on a single 8 pin. It's not a power hungry hot monster.
It only uses as much juice as a GTX970. Tests show reference it is no louder than a GTX970, which also has a well proven reference blower. Nowhere will you read the reference cooler is noisy/inadequate.
