My first year of prime is almost up. I barely ordered from Amazon (after getting prime), I don't always find it to be the cheapest. Nor every item listed as prime have been eligible for next day delivery.
I've rarely used amazon prime video because the collection is rather small compered to other streaming services. The moment I saw that content was still pay to rent, my disappointment in the service started.
Prime music I've not used as I have Spotify via Vodafone.
Don't own a kindle so prime library hasn't been used.
Got 50gb storage with Google, so amazon storage again is unused.
Doubt I'd renew my subscription with prime. For me, it's a premium service that doesn't justify the cost.

This sign up every month with a dot in your e-mail and an "a" in your house number is NOT advisable.
I've been an amazon customer for 17 years and Prime for 8 years
I have built up a relationship with them so they look after me if things go wrong.
Recently an item broke after 11 months they sent me a new one at no charge next day delivery.
I still have my 4 recommends.
Amazon reward loyalty.

If you don't care about your order history or have the time and patience to record the logins to potentially 100's of accounts.
My account purchase history goes back to 2003.
You'd also loose / reset your Amazon music and video playlists. As well as having to re-enter all your payment & delivery options on each new account.

I have a catch all email address, so I can put anything @mydomain.me.uk and it will get delivered. Every month, when I need a new Amazon account, I create a new one by literally just typing in the email address on the form as "[email protected]" and I get that email, then after my order, go in and remove the prime sub. I won't tell you what number I'm up to. It's very tight, but I only use Amazon for next day delivery stuff, I bet in a round about way, it's still costing me more money.

Good for those who regularly order... AMP allows you to get free delivery or collection at your preferred location....
not bad considering as deliveries cost can be expensive
and this can be paid back from product that you can get for reviewing at heavy discount so will pay for it self many times...

I understand they're putting a stop to that "completely unbiased review for free stuff" system.
Must admit, it pees me off when I try to find reviews for a product and almost everyone is a freebie/heavy discount review. Yes, I'm sure *you* are completely unbiased, but I'm quite sure most reviewers must be aware that if they give predominantly negative reviews the flow of goodies is going to dry up.

I dont have prime but have bought many things from amazon and have had many refunds & partial refunds, you dont need to be with prime for that amazon are generally pretty good with their customers, ive swapped items 10 months later after they broke no questions asked. I really like amazon but brand loyalty is one of the craziest things I see in the modern world. I see people sticking with ridiculously expensive phone contracts because when they ring up they get sweet talked and given a £5 best favourite customer discount on their new £55 monthly 12 month contract or whatever and 10% off their next upgrade.
They don't care about you. You're a drop in the ocean to them. They give the same customer service to every prime customer.

If you barely order of Amazon why get Prime in the first place? Personally I got it because I found I was quite often having to pay delivery or wait till I needed something else on small items. I also sometimes needed to pay for stuff the next day that was needed fast. If that sort of thing is happening to you about once a month then it makes sense and the extras are just a nice bonus. I actually made over my sub back in the end in vouchers for Amazon pantry and kindle as there is regularly a £1-£3 bonus is you choose the no rush delivery on stuff you don't need as fast.

Can't fault your logic for not renewing....just the logic for why you took it on for a full year?.
Better option, in my opinion, would be to take it on for the odd month (Black Friday) @ £7.99 with no real commitment and cancel when there's very little to justify.
After all, the Prime specific TV series you might want to watch (The Grand Tour, Man in the High Castle) can be watched at your leisure once they've been "aired".
It's good value though for those that benefit from all that Prime offers and certainly heat from me for this deal.

I have the same view as @kos1c; I was tempted by the "amazing" offers but have become more and more disillusioned. I purchased this last year and have used it very regularly. I often find Music CDs with free prime delivery are cheaper than the digital download option - and include an instant MP3 copy anyway. If I'm not in a hurry for something, I choose the "no-rush" delivery option and often get a pound credit to use on the digital music store (I'd hate to be confronted by how much I spend on music). Also I've ordered loads of little things that are just a couple of pounds to arrive the next morning, much better than wasting a lunch hour popping to the shops to pick them up. ALSO the Prime Music and Prime Video service shouldn't be overlooked - both are very good. I'm a happy Prime customer!

I like Amazon I choose to use them, I pay my money and I receive a very good service, however, they are on the fiddle to the UK taxpayer, so they fiddle the tax system and I fiddle them.

Amazon drivers 'work illegal hours'
Amazon delivery drivers regularly work "illegal" hours and receive less than the minimum wage, it has been claimed.
Drivers for agencies contracted by the internet giant told an undercover reporter they were expected to deliver up to 200 parcels a day.
Some admitted breaking speed limits to stay on schedule, while others said time was not allowed for toilet breaks.
Sounds like ASDA!! TBH with the advent of new tracking technology it treats you like a machine. It tells you when to take a break you could be anywhere and not near any facilitates. I have been a driver in various places for 20 years and it is the worst it has ever been.

Was meant to be the word *ordered.
I was using Amazon often before I took up prime and then noticed I didn't order as much as I did before. My other comment points that out.
It's helpful when I need a certain cable ASAP when I'm tinkering around with a tech idea. But other than that, it's barely used.
Most items I've ordered lately haven't been eligible for next day prime delivery. Seems I'm either ordering rare items from 3rd party or amazon themselves aren't stocking what I need.
Out of all the benefits prime gives, the next day delivery is the only thing I really used. Watched a handful of movies, gave my prime music to a friend.
I've also benefited with the no rush £3 vouchers around Xmas and prime day for amazon apps.
I just don't see it worth it for myself at this moment in time.

I signed up to Prime last year on this deal and at the time was so excited to get free video etc. However, that excitement soon wore off; the video selection is very limited, I seldom use the music service, (and my main reason for joining) the free next day delivery seems to not be available on more and more items. Countless companies employ lots of accountants/lawyers to ensure they pay as little tax as possible. It makes good business sense.
I was chatting to a guy from Vodafone ages ago and that was his sole role in the company was to reduce the company's tax bill globally. Is it illegal to avoid paying tax, definitely not.
Tax evasion is illegal which isn't what Amazon are doing so I really don't see what the issue is.

Worth a go on live chat to see what you can wangle.

So mine expires today, tried on my tablet earlier and it failed using two browsers. Have just tried on my laptop and it worked ! Although nothing on the confirm order page or the confirmation email stated the cost so checked my credit card and indeed they have charged me £59 and £1 before that which I assume was them testing my card and I'll get that back?

Hi guys,
Just thought I'd share this.
I signed up for Amazon Prime last week for a month. Since successfully received two prime orders and had tried out the music service.
Today, this deal came along so I was gutted because it was only for new customers.
So I called the Amazon customer service who were able to cancel and refund my monthly subscription to allow me to sign up for the £59.
Amazon customer service is awesome... worth a shot for anyone in a similar situation.

I know you're not the first to suggest this but I'd love to know how anyone could be bothered doing that. Prime isn't worth 80 quid imo but 60 it's getting a bit closer to what it should be. I'd sooner pay £60 and be done with it rather that torturing myself trying to get it for free.

On chat with customer services asking them to offer me this deal (currently on pay monthly prime). After about 10 minutes back and forth they refused as deal is only for new prime customers.
Cancelled my membership with immediate effect - and got £7.99 refund.
Then lo and behold - up pops offer banner, and was instantly able to sign up for a year for £59.

I had a Prime trial (activated accidentally) which seemed to show me the best of Prime over the last few weeks, so I've decided I'll give it a try for a year.
The link suggested the £59 was only for new Prime members, thus count not get the cheaper deal.
I opened up a chat session, and Manoj cancelled my trial, then a refresh of the £59 page allowed me the cheaper price.
I did get in touch with Amazon during the trial, as the Prime music app will not install on my Android TV.

Prime CS is awesome but don't use it too often or they could close your account.
They threatened to close mine and I've only done 8 returns out of 60 off purchases this year saying my return rate was too high
So don't be drawn too much into the eco structure because if They do close your account you loose all prime, books, films, and any credit/gift cards you have are void.
Its made me look around more at other retailers When purchasing and When my Prime runs out I will not be renewing

I've been a prime customer for years - I don't abuse their returns policy, and do order a fair amount (according to my account I've placed 108 orders in 2016 - many of which have more than 1 item). This year I've probably returned 3 or 4 things, one faulty Fire TV stick, and a couple of warehouse items which weren't as described.
Their CS have always looked after me great - being a prime member certainly helps them bend the rules on occasion!
Also, prime replaced my Netflix subscription (although I have it at the moment thanks to Vodafone) and also my Spotify subscription, so in effect, it works out cheaper for me.

Funnily enough, I'm looking forward to my membership expiring for this reason. The £20 minimum purchase cost will be a great incentive to not make impulse purchases and to shop around.
Buying from Amazon has become a bit of a compulsion so that I get my Prime membership fee's worth!

Correct, amazon can turn blind eye to this and carry on as usual .
People talk so much about ethical sourcing specially when it comes to garment sourcing from asian countries and how badly workers are treated there. People talk about how high street retailers who source from these factories have ethical responsibility to ensure proper working conditions for these workers.
Here we are talking about delivery drivers who live in THIS country and deliver for amazon. But we are ok as they are agency drivers and amazon is allowed to turn blind eye ...

I cancelled my Prime membership a few months ago and have just had a letter offering me this deal if I come back. The link in the letter is http://amazon.co.uk/primereturn
So not just for new Prime members.
EDIT: The link above seems to go to the same promo page which says new members only, but it does have a different "ref=" in the URL. Not sure if they are using the referring link or your account status to determine if you are eligible as a returning member.

So I'm hot and cold about Prime.
Pros:
Downloading series to watch on train/Tube journeys and flights.
Prime no-rush credit (which I use for eBooks and Hearthstone via Appstore)
Prime delivery (sometimes)
The rare movie that isn't on Netflix, or where I don't want malware from viewing it elsewhere
A vast selection of classical music on-demand (on my phone or PC or other device), without having to load YouTube
Cons:
Music selection is quite limited
Movie and series selection is quite limited, and often teases out older content, whereas newer content for the same series is paid-for.
Prime stuff is almost always more expensive; if not for no-rush credit (which I value to a small degree), I'd probably wait the few extra days and get it non-Prime. This is actually my single biggest issue - the Prime delivery rarely saves any money, and pushes people towards spending an additional 5%-100% (depending on price; often £1.99 stuff is available to Prime for £3.99, or £45 stuff is available for £50 with Prime).
On balance, and because I collect Pantry credit, or Digital credit for no-rush, I do somewhat better than break even financially, and the ability to watch decent content on my mobile device on over 50 flights and 100 rail journeys over the past 15 months has been the icing on the cake.
But for casual online shoppers, I would not recommend it at £50, let alone £79.
bma1445 to Yossi
15 Nov 161#141
But prime delivery also comes with amazon CS. If I have 2 choices - to ordered via marketplace for £9.99 or to order "fulfilled by amazon" for £10.49 - I'd choose the amazon option every time.
I've been burnt too many times by amazon sellers - things shipped from china taking weeks without being told in advance, not responding to emails when things go wrong. If you're buying from amazon marketplace sellers without being fulfilled by amazon, you might as well buy from eBay or somewhere.

its hardly any hassle, go to hotmail put in some fake personal details, choose a random username which is only used for prime make a note of it, use it purely for prime orders for 30days, when expires and u want to buy things again then register another one. hardly much effort IMO......

I believe 40 million tracks is actually 10 million more than Spotify? And to be fair to Amazon, the free one now has 2 million tracks to choose from. Enough for me...

My Prime membership was due for renewal today. I contacted them by chat and with the topic of cancelling Prime membership and before I even had time to ask for the cheaper renewal price she asked me if I wanted to renew at £59 (guessing this is a popular question today). She confirmed this was possible and the fastest way is to cancel the membership, wait a few mins and then sign back up again for £59. I can confirm this works. We use practically all the benefits of Prime in our household and so feel it represents great value, even at £79. At £59 for another year I'm extremely pleased!

It's the sum of the parts that makes Amazon Prime a good deal. However, like a few other Members, I have not used the service to its full potential. For me, next delivery is great but I was (and still am) disappointed by Prime Video. We tried to watch a film recently only to be told it was not available to Prime members? Netflix trumps it in this respect! Anyhow, I still voted hot for the deal, as it's a good deal, but it's hard to justify if like me you're only using Prime for specific elements of the deal. I will not be renewing my subscription as I don't use the full service but I will miss next day delivery for sure

Just to reiterate what others have already said - if you're already a Prime member you can cancel and then immediately sign up for again at the £59 price. My membership was due to expire in a few days - I chatted with Amazon online to see if they'd just let mine renew at the lower price but the lady said that cancelling and re-applying was the way to get the £59 price. She even cancelled my membership and then emailed me to say that I could re-apply. So by "new" Prime members they mean anyone who doesn't currently have an active membership.

Amazon will offer ex-prime users this price if you wait it out for a letter.

15 Nov 16#181
Just for information - that isnt strictly true. We used to sell on Amazon and their criteria is very strict, and sellers get suspended for falling below 90% (or something very high) positive customer feedback scores. Also Amazon claim that you are fully protected against fake products and they will refund themselves if you are scammed. I asked about someone abroad selling a Mont Blank Pen very cheap and they were adamant that id be fully protected - but i didnt purchase as price seem too good to be true and didnt want the bother of claims etc - but they sent me an email to confirm that id already had the conversation with them for my piece of mind.

The Agency are paid more than enough to employ enough drivers - but usually instead they think they can 3 people to do the delivery of 5. Like I said, its the same elsewhere.

In contrast to all of the people saying it isn't worth it, I've found my Prime Membership to be great value.
I signed up last year on a previous deal, and since then I've saved over £100 on delivery that I would have paid for without prime. I've also enjoyed Prime TV, and prefer it to Netflix - my kids have also watched a number of shows on this (Just Add Magic, Annedroids, etc...). Prime music is also good (not great in comparison to other music streaming offers but better than nothing!). On top of that, I've made use of the photo storage and discounts on xbox games for Prime users.
All in all I've been happy with the price I paid. I've not made use of Pantry or books.

You don't need a fire Tv stick to watch the show. Just anything that can access the internet well, e.g. Phone, tablet, Pc, Smart TV. If you want to watch on TV that isn't smart maybe buy the fire Tv stick but other devices are available or you could just connect phone, tablet, Pc etc to Tv via HDMI. You can share the membership with one other account but obviously you can share password of your account with more people in order to share benefits. I think only 2 people can view content per account at one time though. Hope you enjoy the Grand Tour and I hope my comment helps you. Ask if you need any help :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry but got disagree, i literally wont shop anywhere else these days apart from amazon, even 13 months after something goes wrong theyll just refund or replace, no hassle what so ever!
I literally havent got enough time to explain the things theyve sorted out for me, and the discounts on warehouse products etc , they even knocked off about £18 from my prime now order because i told them my bread was crushed

My post was for those who pull a fast one and get a free month by changing their e-mail and adding an "a" to their address.
There have been numerous times amazon have gone the extra mile for me.
Why have I still got my 4 recommends enjoying next day delivery? They dont offer this anymore so I guess its because I'm being rewarded for loyalty.
EE another company that rewards loyalty our bill at work is now £60 inc VAT for 4 lines, we used to get bills approaching £200
So you are wrong, good companies do appreciate your loyalty.
You sound like you have had some bad experiences with retailers?
ps
non food items I buy almost exclusively from:
• JLP
• amazon
because of their 'No Quibble' return policy

What a horribly rude post. What's the matter with you??
You DO need a fire stick to watch Prime on a (non-smart) tv, so your advice wasn't particularly helpful. I hope for your sake you're only being a keyboard warrior and that you aren't as rude in "real life".

Apologies about my choice of words in my previous post. I genuinely wasn't sure whether they were joking, mistaken or trying to trick others into unnecessarily buying a fire tv stick. There are many devices that allow Prime to be viewed on a non-smart Tv. Including any internet device plugged in via HDMI or streamed to the TV. I was trying to help someone out and potentially save them a few quid that was clearly confused and being given false advice. Apologies for any offence I have caused you

Amazon do not reward loyalty. Their customer service is good and they are great at warranty returns etc. I'm not a prime customer but I had an item replaced after 7 months that broke.
If they rewarded loyalty the £59 would be for everyone not just new customers. If anything a loyalty reward would be a depreciating renewal fee and additional benefits
Also I tried a free month trail. Went to put on a film for my son only to find you had to pay extra to watch it. So much for all the included video. Most of it is old or less popular as others have said.

Hi, yes i posted after this that i got sorted after trying to contact them via email, they called me back and sorted everything for me, thanks for the advice though.
I`ve not had many problems with my orders over the years but when i have Amazon have always been fantastic, last year i ordered some bottles of spirits but they sent the wrong ones, even though they were double the price of what i ordered i contacted Amazon and they apologised, said i would receive the correct drinks next day and i could keep the incorrectly sent bottles to do as i please.

its false economy. last year I paid the full price and my parcels typically arrived before dinner time. Then I did this "cheat" and came up with another email address (same as the last but I added a o-n-e on the end  ) and then paid £20 less....but! I've now noticed my parcels arrive between 1437 and 1630 hours. much later than the full price prime. plus they're not packaged as good. they use less tape and half the time its covered in fingerprints!
anyway I still like it but I don't be caught out again this time.
(PS the packaging on the full price prime smells better IMO).
hope this helps. you get what you pay for!

Sorry that you have had a bad experience, I know the account closure issues were mentioned on Watchdog a few years back.
My 'special relationship' with amazon is not 'in my head' its personal experience I could list a dozen times where amazon have gone the extra mile to find a solution to a problem.
Problems that say a Dixon's group PLC manager -PC World, Curry's etc would have treated me with utter contempt.
I swear I wouldn't buy from
them if all their product were free due to their truly appalling returns policy etc I have been treated like a criminal by them on more than one occasion in the 90's up to ten years ago.
I know a good retail experience, its not 'in my head' ie just my imagination as your post implies, its reality.

So to clarify.
You are generalising about all Managers in the whole of Dixon's, on the assumption they would treat you with utter contempt. And you wouldn't accept the same products for free, even though they are identical to those you are buying from Amazon and come in a factory sealed box.
You were also treated as a criminal by them in the 90's and up to 2006, so that must still be the case, even though an entirely different generation of people now work there...
...and it isn't 'in your head'.

There's an official Android app for Amazon Prime Video now (smartphones, Kodi boxes, etc) though I normally watch Prime on my BluRay player...
Dixons Group PLC may have improved (please see my recent Telegraph link below) but I wont be going back there.
Yes I feel strongly about my sub standard previous shopping experience there.
Just as you feel strongly about amazon falling below your expectations.
The difference is amazon have very few bad write ups for customer service and in fact are award winning- The top 50 companies for customer service http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/12109854/The-companies-with-the-best-customer-service-in-the-UK.html
1 Amazon.co.uk – 86.6
Dixon Group PLC not even in the top 50!
More than 12 years since I steped foot in one of their stores. I'm not out of touch.
Jan 2015-
"For the sake of those people who rely on a wage from Dixons-Carphone, I certainly hope things improve in the coming year. But, if I view the situation minus the impact on its staff, I can't really say I am too surprised that the group's trading has been hit and miss. Despite the fact that selling electrical gadgets and mobile phones is as close to a licence to print money as you can get nowadays, Dixons-Carphone stores manage to screw things up. This is because they treat customers with a level of disdain not seen in this country since Margaret Thatcher had to engage in her first one-to-one conversation with a sweaty northern union leader."
I signed up last year with a similar deal and have not had any regrets. I live the prime delivery and am a heavy music user, especially now with my Alexa  Absolutely amazing, go for it! Great deal!

Many items, particularly low cost ones actually cost one or two pounds more on prime.
So it's not really free now is it?
Neither the video or the music services are up to much and 7.50 a month is a lot considering you can get free post from a lot of places these days and they rarely take more than a day or so.
Amazon need a reality check.

"with a new email in less than 2 minutes. So just over 10 minutes a year to have this for free"
1 month = 2 minutes
12 months = 24 minutes
also its not really 2 minutes is it? more like 10 minutes.
also if you spend that much money on amazon too take advantage of prime surely you can afford it lol, i go halves with a family member,
£35 each = £2.91 a month
£2.91 a month is easily more than better than having to resign up and going round in circles!

Got this deal 12 months ago. Thanks to late deliveries I will still be on that deal until March. Hopefully a few of my Black Friday and Xmas orders will be late again so I can extend it even further. If you're only after the TV, then this isn't that hot. I was already using Amazon a lot and even though I would never pay for next day delivery, having that as part of Prime was a bit pull for me, the TV and music side as a bonus.
Ashamuk
15 Nov 162#347
why are u comparing £2.91 to free?
nothing beats free, regardless if u split it with 10 people, your trying to justify a price which clearly will not beat FREE.
if your too lazy to fill a form in and then notepad the new email address for that one month free and rather justify paying for something that u can get for free, then to me thats pretty stupid IMO.
Did i mention that your paying for something that u can get for free?

72b, Pull A Fast One Road [email protected]

been a member for many many yrs, never ever paid for prime since launch, and i submit my address only the one way, i dont add things to it or put dots anywhere, all i do is create a new email address and change the email address slightly, just making up a random one now..
[email protected], then [email protected], then [email protected]
and so on, its really not hard. and its obvious to amazon that im doing it, it must be, as i dont fake any personal details apart from using a new email, they have never ever said anything to me, why would they, they are getting my money.
i think ur looking way too much into this. im not exactly frauding a bank or anything, its just a loophole to get free delivery.

My prime was due to expire on the 18th too. Noticed it would auto renewal and i spoke to customers services via amazon /chat and they were about to remove the auto renewal.
After seeing this deal, i thought i would chance my luck and spoke to customer service again via chat and they said that they would offer the same deal £59 a year. It would be automatic and i wouldnt have to do any thing.

My prime was to renew on the 15nth of December this year. Last night, after chatting with customer services, I cancelled the remaining prime and got 30% back and in the same time renewed the membership for another year for 59 quid. It's not only for the new customers, at least that's what the lady made me think. Regardless the prime is good or not, it's still a good deal. In my case, prime is fantastic, not only for the same day delivery or 2 hours delivery if you are in the right area but even for prime music or movies, cloud services. It's not only the delivery that I am interested in. And with the Grand Tour coming this Friday it's like the cherry on the top of the cake.
And if anyone doubts about the renewal, I can provide a copy of the chat session with the Amazon representative. So the deal is hot hot hot ...

Just to add my 2 pence worth... I like free stuff as much as the next man and did use the email trick the last 2 Xmas's, and am currently on free Netflix and nearly free now tv deal , thanks to this site...
But I always factor in the "Faff" factor  and at a fiver a month I cant be ****'d
and dont forget (most do) to factor in your time, ie if your normal wage is £10 ph , and it takes over 30 mins a month, then its not free...
Not saying it takes thirty mins, but I remember spending a day ebaying and making about £50 profit , but had turned down a days overtime which would have made me 3 times that...

I've been doing the month to month because I did not know how long I'd be here. I'd love to take advantage of the cheaper rate, but as I'm not a 'new' customer and can only renew for a year at the 80 pound rate.
It's one of those things that I'd do it anyway, but it upsets me as a long time customer that I can't get the same break! They know they have me though so don't have to offer anything extra.
I'm also an annual member in the US. I accidently let my membership renew even though I'm in the UK now. I still maintain a household there and rent some space out, and frankly it's come in very handy to ship things overnight at a distance; everything from light bulbs to smoke detectors. It's certainly a premium to pay for a service I don't use all the time but it's very convenient when I do.
I'm really torn about paying 80pounds but even if I leave it may be just as convenient to still ship things overnight here for various reasons. The decision would be a little more clear cut though at 60 pounds.

Hi
This deal is for existing customers as well if you have just renewed.
I buy from amazon.com occasionally and we use myus at work.
I always make sure purchases are under £15.00 from amazon.com due to VAT and the £8.00 post office admin charge.
cheers

16 Nov 16#367
Nar-E, in short no, i've tried to ask them but they said no. Not sure how this will work out for you but you can cancel your yearly membership and get a pro-rata refund i.e. If you use 10 months worth you will get 2 months back. Then just use the link to get it for the discounted price
Kellylek, I am on the month to month subscription but manage to speak to someone from a UK call centre and they sorted it out for me. As many other posters have said cancel your membership and just use the link to rejoin. Its slightly different if you pay monthly but they manage to do this still.
Thanks my brother for informing me of this deal

Just ending your membership won't work. You need to contact Amazon & get them to cancel your membership. Then you can immediately rejoin for £59. I know, I did this yesterday.

For anyone worried about your Prime photos that you may have backed up using the unlimited photo backup if you get Amazon to cancel your membership, or if you "end" your membership, I can reassure you that you will not loose them. I spoke with an Amazon Drive rep yesterday who checked with his senior team. Once you end or cancel Amazon Prime, everything you have in Amazon Drive - photos, files, videos & so on - are safe for 90 days. After that, they are deleted. So, if you rejoin Prime within 90 days, you have nothing to worry about.

my prime would have run out on December 15th, emailed customer services who said to call them as it would be easier. just my like I had the 1 customer services advisor who had no clue about the £59 deal. I got so annoyed that I asked to speak to a different advisor and straight away she said "no one else is available". Finally got it sorted after 29 minutes on the phone!!!!

Should be able to. I'm the same, having somehow signed up despite clicking on the "no, I don't want Prime" during checkout last week, so I cancelled the renewal straight away.
Yesterday a letter arrived with a credit card type thing saying £20 off if you sign up by Friday.

i feel your pain, the first person i spoke to was pretty clueless, i called using the 0800 number i found on google and ended the call after 20 minutes. Ended up doing a survey i got on my e-mail and there was an option to call me back, did this and spoke to a girl/lady from a UK call centre and it all got sorted pretty quick.

Dont even need to do an online chat.
Mine was due to exprie on 18th but I was unsure what would happen.
1) I ended my prime online but this doesnt cancel the service just stops it renewing
2) contacts us --> amazon prime --> Cancel
3) I wrote simply saying that I have ended my amazon prime but can you please cancel it so i take up the £59 offer.
4) instant email reply saying thank you for contacting amazon
5) 5 minutes later email saying it had been cancelled.
6) went to amazon.co.uk and could immediately take up the offer

This is really rather worrying and I'm going to have think twice about 'buying' any more digital content. I frequently use no-rush to get a £1 and was going to buy a film or two; not sure I'll bother if they can just take it away from me on a whim.
The law needs to be changed to protect such purchases.

very true. I stopped selling on ebay and amazon for that reason. selling on ebay is a nightmare due to:
-namby pamby cant do this cant do that rules to the point you fee like telling ebay to f*** off and just tell me what I should sell it for
-dictating how much postage is, even thought their values are incorrect
-dealing with moronic surprised you can breathe idiot buyers
-ebay treating sellers like dirt on their shoes
buying stuff
-idiot sellers selling same stuff as you but giving it away and clearly making a loss
fees - ebay is mega expensive to sell - a £200 item costs £20-30 to sell PLUS postage costs, unless you've covered postage separately. amazon used to a lot cheaper
- takes forever to list on ebay - 10 years ago it took seconds, now it takes minutes

16 Nov 16#389
I'd be flabbergasted if that's true. As far as I'm aware, the salt isn't used for the address so won't prevent them from checking based on name / postcode matching. It's used for the password (and maybe certain card details) and therefore prevents password cracking based on pre-computed dictionary attacks (rainbow tables).
Doesn't PCI dictate rules just for storage / transmission of card details? Certainly it doesn't prevent email address comparisons, otherwise you could create accounts using the same email address without adding a dot...so if the email address *is* for some reason hashed (and I don't think it is - why would it be?? it is used to contact you and is shown in your account details so a plaintext version must be stored somewhere...) it is not salted.
They could simply store a hashed house number + postcode with every account and when a new account is set up, check this value against a hash of the "new" house number + postcode. If that matches. they could then check the names. If they match then it is not a new account.
They could even do this with the last four digits of the CC number on top of the name (again I'm pretty sure that's stored in plaintext because IIRC that's also visible in the payment cards section of your account settings).
So I'm pretty sure Amazon is tolerating this for some reason. Rather like the way Microsoft tolerates a certain amount of piracy or US cops tolerate drinking on the street (as long as one uses a paper bag).

When I said two minutes I was really exaggerating but thanks for helping me with my math.
My point still stands. Even if it takes half an hour or an hour in total over the year, then I am being paid a pretty decent tax free wage for that time.

I have had prime for over a year. I had lots of post issues but they just kept giving me 1 month free. I ended up having 1 months free trial, a years Prime for £79, then had 6 months free and when I went to sign up again it gave me a 30 day trial again. I saw this offer, spoke to them on chat and they said they could cancel it and i could take out Prime again for £59.
I can confirm that this did work. I paid £59 for another year prime. Works out around £4.91 a month.

I've been an amazon customer for 17 years and Prime for 8 years
I have built up a relationship with them so they look after me if things go wrong.
Recently an item broke after 11 months they sent me a new one at no charge next day delivery.
I still have my 4 recommends.

My account purchase history goes back to 2003.
You'd also loose / reset your Amazon music and video playlists. As well as having to re-enter all your payment & delivery options on each new account.
not bad considering as deliveries cost can be expensive
and this can be paid back from product that you can get for reviewing at heavy discount so will pay for it self many times...
They have to store the credit card details using encryption. The salt has to be different.
The email address will be encrypted as well.
They're aware of this problem, but can't do anything about it due to their PCI compliance.

Amazon reward loyalty.
Thats because it is in Warranty. Its not rewarding loyalty, its complying with UK/EU Law (unless tax is involved of course)
I recently had something blow up (literally) 149 weeks after ordering it.
Amazon refunded me in full. They did not have much choice as I would have claimed under section 75 on my credit card
Someday, they may not.

Same here, My thoughts;
How desperate must I be to want things the next day rather than waiting a couple of days longer
I don't watch the video as there is hardly anything worth watching (already seen Vikings)
I wouldn't mind if they used the fee to pay delivery drivers a proper wage but they don't
So I'll save my self £80, be patient for my stuff and I'll stream Top Gear for free!
Make no mistake, this is a HOT deal!
I don't use music and video playlist I have youtube and it take me 2 seconds to enter my card details because I memorised everything.
To all those replying to me I want to say I have been a Amazon Customer for 15 years and been using prime on and off. I don't need a account every month just occasionally and order for the month that's all thanks
Recently items have arrived after 48hrs not 24. Not even the Xmas rush yet.
surprisingly I was using Amazon a lot more before I got prime. Then just kinda reduced a lot of my online ordering and it turned out to be more of a waste of money than anything else.
free amazon video
free prime
for 10 mins work
do you think they care im setting s new one up when im spending money on there site
ive used the same card for 11 acount this year
no problem at all
Altgough the free month hack seams to work.
My subscription finished last month and I chose not to renew as I thought this offer would come round again! Just shows as £79 for me .... Will have a chat with them later, see if I can haggle it down!
Yes and no...if an item says add-on then you still have to spend £20 minimum to get it regardless of whether or not you have Prime.
It's a little fiddle.
I like Amazon I choose to use them, I pay my money and I receive a very good service, however, they are on the fiddle to the UK taxpayer, so they fiddle the tax system and I fiddle them.
Is it worth £1 per week ? Yes
Are they fiddling tax ? Yes
See it as cashback.
Amazon delivery drivers regularly work "illegal" hours and receive less than the minimum wage, it has been claimed.
Drivers for agencies contracted by the internet giant told an undercover reporter they were expected to deliver up to 200 parcels a day.
Some admitted breaking speed limits to stay on schedule, while others said time was not allowed for toilet breaks.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37708996
Although I've started seeing some items that I "regularly-ish" order only being offered if you're a prime member, which just doesn't make sense (i.e. not allowing normo's to buy items sold on Amazon!).
I was chatting to a guy from Vodafone ages ago and that was his sole role in the company was to reduce the company's tax bill globally. Is it illegal to avoid paying tax, definitely not.
Tax evasion is illegal which isn't what Amazon are doing so I really don't see what the issue is.
I'm starting to use Amazon for so many things now.
It's not just all about Amazon though - They offer something for twitch.tv users too.
The following Prime benefits can be shared between the two adults in the Amazon Household:
Amazon Prime delivery benefits.
Prime Video (streaming only).
Prime Early Access.
Kindle Owners' Lending Library.
Selected Amazon Family benefits.
However I would say think twice before buying from amazon if you have a viable alternative, see how poorly amazon treats its delivery drivers
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37708996
Say no to amazon prime, say no to amazon ...
I suppose it all comes down to how much you use Amazon's services. I use them a lot. People are essentially paying for same day/next day delivery. Things like Amazon video and music are just sweeteners to the deal..
Surely it's the agencies/contractors who are at fault then, not Amazon?
Worth a go on live chat to see what you can wangle.
Cancelled my membership with immediate effect - and got £7.99 refund.
Then lo and behold - up pops offer banner, and was instantly able to sign up for a year for £59.
Their CS have always looked after me great - being a prime member certainly helps them bend the rules on occasion!
Also, prime replaced my Netflix subscription (although I have it at the moment thanks to Vodafone) and also my Spotify subscription, so in effect, it works out cheaper for me.
Buying from Amazon has become a bit of a compulsion so that I get my Prime membership fee's worth!
So not just for new Prime members.
EDIT: The link above seems to go to the same promo page which says new members only, but it does have a different "ref=" in the URL. Not sure if they are using the referring link or your account status to determine if you are eligible as a returning member.
I've been burnt too many times by amazon sellers - things shipped from china taking weeks without being told in advance, not responding to emails when things go wrong. If you're buying from amazon marketplace sellers without being fulfilled by amazon, you might as well buy from eBay or somewhere.
And some would say (OK, my wife!) 59 quid is worth it for Lucifer, Bosch and Man In The High Castle alone...:stuck_out_tongue:
Works out well if they keep doing this every year, mine expires tomorrow already set the end subscription on account and will re add tomorrow so fingers crossed will works as before great saving of £20 for a brilliant service.

As you commented...
I have given correct reviews, I sometimes took my time, over the 16days deadline to make sure I knew what I was talking about... and it was correct.
I always wondered why I have to put a declaration that I got this product for this purpose, even though I didn't wanted to..... and have given 1* for absolutely rubbish item costing more than a penny worth, and the seller not willing to help me in resolving the issues.
The real reviewers have been tarnished with the fake reviewers....
Thanks
Dave
Thanks SM
Tbh it really just seems like anyone can get prime for £59 right now  hey ho.
P
I'm probably going to buy the Google home speaker when that's out as it has better multiroom support.
Referring to after having prime.
I used to order a lot prior to having amazon prime. But a few months after having prime I noticed my order quantity dropped to once in a blue moon. Which took away my need for prime. Will try editing my original post as the confusion has been pointed out a couple of times. :man:
After that it felt like a cheesy Watch Dogs approach and I couldn't keep interest for long.
Luckily I got amazon prime till December for the grand tour, if it's not all put by the time my sub ends. I got Kodi as well. :man:
I agree sky is expensive, and not even a great service. But I'm stuck with them for a while. But the bill is split between a few of us.
The Agency are paid more than enough to employ enough drivers - but usually instead they think they can 3 people to do the delivery of 5. Like I said, its the same elsewhere.
Big business, that is how the supply chain works. Look at supermarkets & their rules on Veg or underpaying farmers for milk, etc.
No great loss i`ll most likely look around a bit more or just wait a few days extra for delivery.
The second half of this seasons Vikings and TGT will be on Kodi anyway.
A YEAR OF PRIME FOR £59.00
Nice offer, but I'm currently paying £59.00 / year less for EXACTLY the same 'benefits' :stuck_out_tongue:
Mine are different!
You do need a Fire Stick for 'Grand Tour' on Friday.
But I'd hold off till a week on Friday and pay approx £20.00 or less on Black Friday your Fire Stick will be delivered Saturday.
I hope espiode one will be on constant repeat for those who cant watch live.
Then watch the Grand Tour okay a week late but £15.00 approx saved.
Hope this helps
I don't need movies too because I have kodi on Amazon stick.
You are in FREE trial period so you could always cancel and sign back up explain that to the amazon CS.
EDIT: Sorted
Amazon stopped the 4 sharing last Autumn but have kept it for loyal Prime members.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2015/8/3/9089543/amazon-prime-sharing-restrictions?client=safari
Thanks
https://kodi.tv/the-piracy-box-sellers-and-youtube-promoters-are-killing-kodi/
I usually just download shows via the torrent system now & play back via usb tv dongle.
I literally havent got enough time to explain the things theyve sorted out for me, and the discounts on warehouse products etc , they even knocked off about £18 from my prime now order because i told them my bread was crushed
That said. I would rather have one account, but who has £59 lying around?
My membership is due to end on the 17th. Can I cancel and buy it new after that?
You DO need a fire stick to watch Prime on a (non-smart) tv, so your advice wasn't particularly helpful. I hope for your sake you're only being a keyboard warrior and that you aren't as rude in "real life".
A Fire Stick ideal but there are alternatives for your son https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/video/ontv/devices/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll2&tag=tcuk-article-black-friday-21&linkId=1add4580d99b17159f32cec96b06230e
I`ve not had many problems with my orders over the years but when i have Amazon have always been fantastic, last year i ordered some bottles of spirits but they sent the wrong ones, even though they were double the price of what i ordered i contacted Amazon and they apologised, said i would receive the correct drinks next day and i could keep the incorrectly sent bottles to do as i please.
anyway I still like it but I don't be caught out again this time.
(PS the packaging on the full price prime smells better IMO).
hope this helps. you get what you pay for!
I did the trial, but cancelled.
I spent tens of thousands with them over 11 years, I had a few unlucky purchases that were faulty, I was promptly threatened with account closure and treated with suspicion by them, like some kind of scammer.
Just tried this offer and so far it has gone through at £59.
I regularly use them anyway so the free delivery alone probably justifies it.
wife has just cancelled it so I'll be taking this up in my name
we use Prime/Prime video quite a lot
My 'special relationship' with amazon is not 'in my head' its personal experience I could list a dozen times where amazon have gone the extra mile to find a solution to a problem.
Problems that say a Dixon's group PLC manager -PC World, Curry's etc would have treated me with utter contempt.
I swear I wouldn't buy from
them if all their product were free due to their truly appalling returns policy etc I have been treated like a criminal by them on more than one occasion in the 90's up to ten years ago.
I know a good retail experience, its not 'in my head' ie just my imagination as your post implies, its reality.
I have been waiting and waiting for an offer to join Amazon Prime and less than 24 hours ago signed up for the free 30 day trial and placed an order for something. That has cost me £20 because they say I am not entitled to the offer price of £59:( Just my luck.
Anyone tried searching for artists via the sonos app?
search returned no results
I swear I wouldn't buy from them if all their product were free due to their truly appalling returns policy etc I have been treated like a criminal by them on more than one occasion in the 90's up to ten years ago."
Ok.

Yes I feel strongly about my sub standard previous shopping experience there.
Just as you feel strongly about amazon falling below your expectations.
The difference is amazon have very few bad write ups for customer service and in fact are award winning-

So it's not really free now is it?
Neither the video or the music services are up to much and 7.50 a month is a lot considering you can get free post from a lot of places these days and they rarely take more than a day or so.
Amazon need a reality check.
Use camelcamelcamel to track items you are interested in.
The video and music depends what devices are you using for music and video?
Have you tried the UNLIMITED photo storage in the cloud?
Thanks
1 month = 2 minutes
12 months = 24 minutes
also its not really 2 minutes is it? more like 10 minutes.
also if you spend that much money on amazon too take advantage of prime surely you can afford it lol, i go halves with a family member,
£35 each = £2.91 a month
£2.91 a month is easily more than better than having to resign up and going round in circles!
Amazon is an instant online chat = refund or replacement with free postage
nothing beats free, regardless if u split it with 10 people, your trying to justify a price which clearly will not beat FREE.
if your too lazy to fill a form in and then notepad the new email address for that one month free and rather justify paying for something that u can get for free, then to me thats pretty stupid IMO.
Did i mention that your paying for something that u can get for free?

do you have a speadsheet to help your memory to scam amazon?
As you are breaking amazon's T&C with every scam.
Good luck getting your next day replacement without going to manufacturer within 12 months like I do.
Hopefully amazon will pick up on your IP address so we dont have to fund your 'something for nothing' mentality.
After seeing this deal, i thought i would chance my luck and spoke to customer service again via chat and they said that they would offer the same deal £59 a year. It would be automatic and i wouldnt have to do any thing.
Having prime for the last year has been great, and the prices are one of the cheapest places to shop on line. The next day delivery has saved my skin for those last minute purchases.
And if anyone doubts about the renewal, I can provide a copy of the chat session with the Amazon representative. So the deal is hot hot hot ...
This deal is for existing customers as well if you have just renewed.
I buy from amazon.com occasionally and we use myus at work.
I always make sure purchases are under £15.00 from amazon.com due to VAT and the £8.00 post office admin charge.
cheers
Kellylek, I am on the month to month subscription but manage to speak to someone from a UK call centre and they sorted it out for me. As many other posters have said cancel your membership and just use the link to rejoin. Its slightly different if you pay monthly but they manage to do this still.
Thanks my brother for informing me of this deal

Yesterday a letter arrived with a credit card type thing saying £20 off if you sign up by Friday.
I contacted Amazon via online chat and they kindly cancelled the one month free trial and I then signed up for the £59 Prime offer. Have always found them to be very good.
The law needs to be changed to protect such purchases.
The sooner Clarkson and the Midget are put down the better.
May at least has a brain between his ears.
My point still stands. Even if it takes half an hour or an hour in total over the year, then I am being paid a pretty decent tax free wage for that time.
People will spend longer chasing less from cashback sites.
This is just my opinion however, you spend your money how you like Mr Fatty.
last years £59 cheaper prime ran out today, I'd already cancelled auto renew so I signed back up for £59 today.
Same time next year?!
Just sorted my own out, cheers OP
Fortunate timing as I know the deal on this ends tomorrow evening...
R
Offer me Prime at a decent price without all the useless fripperies and I'll bite.
i dont know if this has been mentioned... but this deal isn't restricted to just new members.
i joined prime this time last year for £59, and ive just renewed again for £59.
no tricks or anything, i just clicked on the ''£59 PRIME'' banner.
hope this helps someone.
I can confirm that this did work. I paid £59 for another year prime. Works out around £4.91 a month.
my post went -300 6 months ago

Hey Ho
Then at the bottom of the next page, under 'Need help?', click on 'contact us'.
Happy Days
Checked today, nope it wasnt renewed. Spoke to them said i had missed the date and as i have previously ticked for for my membership nt to be renewed. So it did nt go thro. Why didnt they tell me this , if it was the case i could of unticked it.
So looks like no prime for me, wrote a email see if they can sort this out or i will shopping else where. Oh wells.
If prices dropped shortly after being ordered they would credit you. Not anymore, must be a change of policy. Just contacted them at two different times and different service staff.
One item hadn't even arrived, and one account we are even paying for prime.
Hope they are not getting too big and turning into another eBay with their s_d the customer policy.
cost $99.00 https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2014/3/13/5503908/amazon-prime-price-increases-to-99-per-year-in-us?client=safari
so £80.21 for a day more than UK
We mustn't grumble.
